Very snug charger - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

It's been really bugging me that the charger cable that came with the phone is so snug in the micro-USB port of the phone it's ridiculous. I'm afraid I'm going to break the port if I'm not careful when removing the charger from the phone. Both this charger and the one that came with the phone I replaced have been super tight on every device I plug it into. I've been using my old micro-USB cable from my original Incredible to charge it for a while, and it's so much easier to remove from the charger.
Is anyone else's charger so tight they're afraid to use it because it might break their port off their phone?

Do you really need a response from people who don't have the problem? If someone has the problem I'm sure they will chime in.

lol. I'm bored and awake late since tomorrow is a holiday and I don't have to work. Figured I'd go post something. There's just so little activity here since most of us don't have root.

I'm still using my OG Droid charger. It fits great... The new one is still in the box.

I've been using the charger that came with my Moto RAZR V8 for 5 years now... It's served me well with that phone, my OG DROID, Inc 2, and now my Inc 4G. The 5 foot cable is tough to beat. Everything these days is an 18in USB adapter cable. Boooo!

talk about charging, strangest thing happened this morning, got up turned on my screen(had 68% when i went to sleep)had 30% batt, in about 2 min it went to 5%, plugged in charger, got message:cannot charge, your phone is using more power than the charger can put out.so i shut down the phone, plugged charger in again for about 3 min, powered phone back on, now it's at 63%, i've never had this happen before on any phone, weird

That is extremely weird. Any idea what caused it? Also, are you using your Dinc 4G charger or a charger for a previous phone?

Hmm. After a few months maybe it'll change, but after just one, it's still as tight as ever.

Clockwork Recovery boots while charging?

When my phone is powered off and charging, it boots into Clockwork Recovery. I remember this being a problem with another HTC device, possibly MT4G, but I thought it had been fixed in an update. Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and if so, is there a fix for it?

Thanks for your reply as well, and you're right, it still appears to charge in Clockwork, but for battery calibrating purposes, it's good to charge the phone while completely powered off. I'll try the battery pull, if it doesn't work, it's not really a big deal.

Assuming you are rooted, since it doesn't happen on un-rooted Thunderbolts. As previously stated, hopefully it's just a matter of time and code to resolve it.

I tried the fix posted above, but it still goes into CW. I'm just leaving it on while it charges. It charges slower, but oh well. I ordered the 3 batteries + charger for $12 off Ebay, so whenever those come in I wont be doing as much charging in the phone anyway.

3rd EVO since June 2...

Just thought i would share my experience... I bought my first evo on launch day june 2, rooted and unlocked it, everything was good until i bought a not OEM car charger for android phones from big lots, i tried to charge it with it and both my phone and the light on the charger went off at the same time, my evo wont turn on anymore after that, i took my evo 4g and my evo 3d and both charged fine with the same charger, I TRIED EVERYTHING from putting it in the freezer to trying all buttons combinations finally took it to sprint they couldn't turn it on either and gave me a replacement,
Got the 2nd one and did the same, Root it unlocked it and flashed custom recovery, I have a Piooner radio with USB output and i always used it with my previous phones since i threw the charger i bought away i tried to charge it with my stereo.. GUESS WHAT??? same thing happened the orange led light became brighter than usual and i shut off, I just tought here we go again..... EVO shutted off and it wouldn't come back one, took it to sprint and got another replacement, 3rd evo in two weeks, now im scared to charge it even tough I bought a OEM charger i just dont want to charge it but im on the road a lot
but i mean in a brand new piece of equipment you think that they will add a protection for over charge and stuff like that, im a big HTC fan but im really disappointed with this one.
so i guess that all im saying is .... don try to charge your evo with anything but the OEM car charger.
I'm not saying rooting and unlocking is what is causing the issue... but why don't you wait a bit on rooting and unlocking with this 3rd one and see what happens.
lol im not touching this one for nothing!! this one stays like it is, but both times the same thing happened when i tried to charge it with the car charger, doesnt make any sense

Maybe your car battery output is very erratic?
I've the charger from monoprice on the old evo and this one with no issues. It's rated at 1amp. Maybe your problem is not the charger but the cable?
i don't think so, i have to other Evos and both charge fine on my truck, i used my home charger cable too, because the charger came without cables only the plug and that's is.
im looking on ebay there is a dual usb charger htc oem for 12.99 im buying that and hope for the best
Yep I've used other chargers too and my phone is fine... Probably a bad charger that you've used.

Not to say its the charger but I had an issue with a third party car charger it caused my EVO to run super hot I was in a friends car if you do use it again try to pull the battery info as u charge ..
I'm not sure but it maybe the rooting too who knows till u pull some info I've used battery monitor to see how hot it was or the voltage it may have reached thermal point .. but I agree they should safe guard more but I learned don't use anything but the charger it came with I don't trust these things so I just avoid using them best of luck

I've been using the same Motorola car charger for my two phones now, OG and LTE, with absolutely no problem what's so ever. It came with a Bluetooth I got from Costco, Moto H12, and have used it with every phone, including friend's who had a micro USB charge port.
Just good luck I guess? I've had this charger for at least 5 years or more...

Do you have/use a capacitor or extra marine battery/upgraded alternator etc., on your car stereo?
i charge mine with xbox,ps3 an cd player i even sync my music from my phone to the car stereo while its charging, Push the button combination that you push when the phone is frozen and see if the phone come on. If this battery was removable im sure you wouldn't have this issue.

Yes i do have a capacitor but this is the truck that i used to charge all my Evos, my wife has a 3D and i can charge hers with no issue, and remember the first time was with the "faulty charger" the second time was from my car stereo.... i can go now and charge my old 3D my wifes 3D and a original Evo and all of them charge ok, why would this one be different?

Big battery...err....USB port... well I don't know...but its busted.

So my phone will not charge over 20% and its getting super hot... I'm talking melt the back hot... I took the otter off it because the plastic was starting to stick to the phone.
I don't know what happened.. the phone was fine when I woke up... after a few hours of light use i noticed it was really hot in my pocket... I took it out to find the battery was almost dead... and it was smoking hot. I shut it down and let it cool off. Now when I plug it in I got the "your phone is consuming more power than your charger can supply" message. Mind you this is the charger I always use and have never had this issue. Even after being plugged in for hours the phone will not charge over 20%... and again.. its getting super hot.
So this has to be a hardware problem right? I want to bring it into sprint but I'm afraid they will want to charge me 150 for a replacement. Should I go through HTC instead? If I do I am stock rooted... how can I get my phone back to normal so HTC can't tell?
Also I did not download any new apps or anything that would screw with my phone.

Am I bricked?

I got a new nightstand lamp that has an A/C outlet built into it and a slot for my cell phone. Instead of having an extra foot of cord on my nightstand I figured I'd get a very short usb to micro usb cord. Instead of buying one I just assumed re-wire it to shorten it. Everything went ok after the first wiring and the charge was working but after moving it around a bit it stopped charging. My phone then did one hard reset then another and after the second one my phone would not turn on. When I first got the phone it did this when I used an auto-root program on the PC but after I played with sd card it finally booted back. This time I fear the worst. I believe I may have dangerously undervolted it but can't be sure. I'm either bricked or need to do an internal battery pull. Does anyone have any expertise where they could definitively say if I'm bricked or not? My led light isn't turning on at all, not even when plugged into power source.
EDIT : now I fear the worst. If I am s-off and I brick the phone is it a perma-brick. Really in need of someones expertise here.

I really dont think undervolting it would brick it. I am no expert, I don't think that would do it in. Now on the other hand did you end up giving it 120 volts by plugging it straight into an outlet, I'm not positive but I think the power supplies that come with the phone use a transformer in them
to reduce line voltage. If thats the case you more then likely fried the battery. But like I said, not an expert.

Thanks for all the feedback it's good to feel I'm not alone in this. So to answer everyones questions simultaneously I did try everything in the book without the re-wired cord to get it to boot. I used a good cord in the PC and A/C, I tried lazypanda unbrick and the phone wasn't recognized at all by terminal in ubuntu. I tried holding the power button for 10s, 20s, 30s and 60s and not even a dim led was lit. I tried removing the sd card a couple times wouldnt power on with or without it. I opened the phone and did an internal battery disconnect and reconnect, nothing. On the other hand i bought a new one on ebay but a few of you have said here it was the battery that I fried which makes me wonder if I could buy a new one and possibly get this thing running and turn around and sell it on ebay to recoup the losses. I do firmly believe it must've been a surge because of the cord, but I thought the phone has a protection circuit and would shut down before any serious damage occurs but maybe thats only to the other hardware elements like the cpu and memory.

Note 3 won't turn on

I had a low battery and had been using my phone at work. I thought I had about 10% left, but looked at my phone and it was off. No, problem I have a usb cord and plug into my work computer to charge it, but no luck. The charging display doesn't come on at all. So, I tried using the same cord with the ad adapter, but same thing. When I first tried it it looked like it was trying to load up, but froze up on the first screen that comes on. So, I pulled the battery, but I am getting absolutely nothing so far. It has been on the charger for about 30 minutes now. What gives? I think I am within my 14 day period at Best buy, maybe it's a battery or phone issue. Of all the days and times it had to be today when I have plans after work, but looks like I have a date with Best Buy instead now. any ideas?
Well that was disappointing. Thankfully it was replaced without a problem. I wonder if it was from the battery dying. I tested the old battery and it powered the new one. Not sure what happened or if that's a first. I hate I lost everything on it.

I remember on my NOTE 2 once my battery died while driving. I tried to plug in my car charger and power it back up but I guess the charger wasn't providing enough juice so I let it charge for like 20 minutes and the phone powered up.
Point is if the battery is totally dead it has to charge for a bit before you can power on the phone...even with a wall charger.
