[Q] Xperia S ICS Quick launch bug fix - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi,
I've just upgraded my xperia S to ICS and realized that the upgrade had rendered my quick launch camera button half functional. It opens the camera app half the time and the other times, I'll have to press it twice. Is there a fix for that?

i have the latest version, 6.1.a.2.45. I did a ugprade through pc companionship and also a repair right after it. But the quick launch bug is still there, a few other users reported it as well. is there a way or mod to fix it?

what's the best version of Gingerbread for xperia S? I forgot to save the version that my phone shipped with, but it was very good, no problems at all. I'm thinking about flashing back to Gingerbread, any risk in doing so? Stock phone, no changes so far.

Can we have arc's camera application in x10??

Since flash on x10 camera is not working, can we install xperia arc's camera application on x10??
NOT POSSIBLE!
I think!
if we can install arcs launcher and other apps on x10 then we may also do it for camera...
Nope not possible. Hardware differences. It's been asked a few times already.
Different hardware and driver. It's imposible unless you have the source code of the camera app but it's still a hard job to make it work on X10.

flash works just like a photolight in default camera app, in my n82, after hacking the phone we could alter a lot of settings like compression for the images..maybe something like that can be done in x10..

Official update to 4.0.4 for xperia ray (and others)

Hi guys,
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/2012/05/25/update-on-ice-cream-sandwich-rollout-for-xperia-smartphones/ here is info about update to ICS 4.0.4 for ray (and other xperias). As we remember, 4.0.3 has came with lot of problems (laggs, jerking video recording, low performence in games, battery drain). I suggest to type here what has changed in new OFFICIAL rom for xperia ray (mainly if bugs are solved).
Thx in advance
thanks for news and i hope this update be better ^^
i hope it will enable auto brightness, add status bar widgets and lockscreen notifications ...and solve bugs reported
Haha thats funny as I haven't even received official ICS in the uk. So God knows when ill get this update

But an updates note? i've installed this firmware on my ray, but i don't know what changes to 4.0.3
I updated yesterday but didn't notice much difference. I have to admit, I didn't check video recording (I hardly use it) nor 3D gaming performance.
As a few others have pointed out, the notification LED didnt appear to work after receiving an SMS or email unless you woke up the screen.

I understand, you have official 4.0.4. Can you tell what about:
- recording video in hd (what about jerking)
- games performance
- laggs
- battery consumption
comparing to gingerbread?
ok, i have found the answer by myself on sony blog. Here it is:
4.0.4 update on Xray
Pros:
*ram usage is better.UI is much more smoother.no lagging at all.
*game performanse is better.(and when exiting the game home screen opens directly.no lagging here too)
Cons:
*Calendar widget is still not showing the next event (so What's the use of this widget?)
*Video recording still lags (playback still lags)
*Dialpad is still taking 2-3 seconds to start at first try to open.
*NO notification LIGHT when you recieve a message when screen is off.
I'm still waiting for another update. Good thing is that between first and second update to ICS it was a short time.

Jellybean on 2011 Xperia line ??!!!???

Today i've tapped the ICS version in "About phone" and instead of flying ICS androids, flying jellybeans appeared.Could this be a sign that we will get JB update? As you can see,i'm on stock .587 firmware.

I've tapped repeatedly where it say Android Version. I don't know if we'll get it or not,but this has appeared. And I saw that someone in the Arc thread have the same animation.

This is trick. Go to About phone and fast tap on Android version then you will see that animation. Don't know is that sign from sony for JB but I hope it is.

Yeah,I know that is from Google, but it was implemented in Sony phones by Sony. What i'm saying is that this animation is different from that one from previous ICS version (431).

Yeah, lol,I'm using a system ui mod based on yours. I found it strange that in the beggining is the ics animation, then it's the jb one.Good job,but you should've changed the whole animation to jb from the beginning However, that now I solved the mistery,I still hope for official JB after the 2012 line is upgraded

[Q] Front camera not working after upgrade to ics

I've searched to no avail... i've tried what some people claimed to hav worked for them(removing sd card and rebooting phone until front camera options shows up) but it only provided a temporary solution... the moment i turn off my phone it goes away again and it is not easy to get it to come back... can anybody help me with a permanent fix to this issue???
i'm using xperia neo v... ICS build 4.1.B.0.587 stock rom by sony... previously GB 2.3.4...

Return back to GB is a good point ! GB is smoother for Gaming and Multitasking unlike laggy ICS ! Or you can use any custom rom !
I'd recommend JS and Revo ICS
testsIs and
Go to your camera app--> tap the scene recognition icon--> select front camera. That should work. I'm using Neo V and I can operate front camera in this way.

i considered that but i have read from other people suffering the same problem as me that though they flashed GB back into their phones the problem never went away... as for custom rom, i do not want to root my phone or unlock the bootloader...

tried third party apps... still not working... will goin back to GB solve the problem??? i hav read from other post or sites of some ppl goin back to GB but the problem stayed wif them... some hav even tried factory reset but continued facing the same problems... could it be that the problem is more hardware related than software??? mayb flashing my phone fried some part of it's hardware???
Same here. Frontcam gone after using ics for a while. And we are not alone after a quick search on google.
Nothing much to do i think, not for me anyway as i have unlocked BL and rooted, and flashed.
Do not think my 2 year guarantee from the seller works anymore
A google search revealed that people were having problems with all Sony phones even 2012 ones

But it's a rarity so can't blame even the manufacturer after the warranty
After all,the company doesn't have "Six sigma or totally defect proof phones "
Try and ask at the service center if warranty exists
My friend had got his cell replaced as the one damaged couldn't be repaired by them

PROBLEM WITH OTHER CAMERA apk
My problem is that , my stock camera apk(ICS) is working properly but it takes long time to take that snap.
I tried to install other camera applications but i found that every application displays "INVERTED SCREEN" (When the Camera id ON).
After clicking on the button (to take the snap) it automatically reverts back and shows Correctly in the Gallery..
Pls Help...

Have i lost the frontcam for good?

ROM ICS (4.0.4) 4.1.B.0.587
Phone: Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo MT15i - New in oct 2011
My frontcamera is suddenly "dead"..and gone from all menus on my Neo.
It is not possible to choose from the camera settings anywhere.
It does not work in skype, or other third party apps.
When i hit service tests with *#*#7378423#*#*, choose secondary camera it says: "the device does not support this function"
It was avail for some time in camera settings, but when i chose it, it froze the whole phone.
But as describe above, now it is all gone.
Consider it lost and just move on?
Or does anyone have some other suggestion? Software fix?
PS: I tried flashing back to gingerbread and so on.. no luck.
Considered flashing. 587 again?
Maybe that'll help you
If not,it's possibly a hardware defect

I did, both rom and kernel.
No effect.
Seems like a hardware effect, but i am not sure.
Strange thing, seems like i am not alone with this, after jumping from GB to ICS on a neo mt15i
Also i un-installed cam app, and reinstalled again. No effect.
The only system apps i have frozen or un-installed by systemcleaner, are update center and update service and all Facebook apps.
