Hey I was wondering what launchers you guys used on jelly bean ROMs like cm10 and AOKP. I tried apex and nova but they seem slower than they did on ICS. Home screen scrolling is not as smooth.
I agree on apex not feeling smooth on JB. The stock trebuchet is smoother but lacks customization that others off. I just tried nova and it seems pretty smooth. More so than apex. I'm on PA CM10

I like Apex alot but as soon as I load up 3 screens with icon/apps the pinch gesture which displays the overview of all screens is very laggy. I've tried it on numerous JB versions.
I understand a bunch of people on this forum don't like Go Launcher but, for myself, the latest versions have been the smoothest of any of the launchers I've tried on JB .
I'm a big Apex fan, but it does lag a little in the drawer on JB. That said, the CM10 official Nightly has the best performance of all I've tried (PA, AOKP, and CM10 unofficial).
I've giving Nova a try right now, and so far, without hiding any apps in the drawer, there's like 4 pages and it's pretty quick and smooth. I will have to re-setup everything just like in Apex for it to work for me, but so far so good.
Until someone gets a composer that actually works correctly, UI elements will feel slow on JB. Thats why we have screen flickers and have to eff around with build.prop changes and other voodoo to "fix" this.
Until the HWcomposer gets a fix, it will simply not be as fast as a JB native phone.

does anyone use Go Launcher on the Rezound?
The only reason I use it is because I like having
a lot of icons on one home screen. (6x7 to be
precise) HTC Sense doesn't seem to allow this,
or did I miss something?
THanks!
i tired and it lagged like hell on both ics and gingerbread. try adw ex, thing is smooth as butter.

I'm surprised it works fine on ics for you since I read a lot of compatibility complaints. I know it works fine on gb
I've used Sense, ADW, Go, Trebuchet, Nova, and now Apex. Out of all of them, only Go gave me a feeling of slow responsiveness. All custom launchers have lots of tweaks now (including grid size), so I go with whatever is in my current flavor of ICS unless I get issues.

Running GoLauncherEX myself. No lag at all
Have ran it on the following:
Ineffabilis Dues v1.01 and v1.4
CleanROM GBE, DE and SE
Still on old firmware as well. No problems
I use go everything. Rocks Widgets, keyboard, etc, it's super handy.

i'm using it on stock/unrooted....no issues whatsoever.
I had some lag on stock. Maybe I should give it another try...
im running it on CR 4.3 without lag or slugishness
I used goLauncher. However, I noticed the icons were very tiny, and widgets didn't take up the correct size of the screen. I'm using Apex Launcher now, so far no problems.
I absolutely love go launcher. It had all the options I need plus amazing themes. Rotation, gestures, custom fonts despite ics, and phenomenal updates, nothing even comes close. Sadly it only ran smooth on aosp or cm7 on tbolt. It runs like **** on rezound, after debloating and desensing , specially on ics. Ppl suggested other launchers but none come close in terms of themes maybe in options..
I just deal with the lags and hick ups and thank my god for their phenomenal dev team they came a long way on ics

I tried go launcher when I was completely stock and it did lag so I decided I would try out sense for awhile. I ran go launcher on my Droid x running miui. I ended up not liking the sense launcher at all. Yesterday I rooted and tried out a couple of roms. Go launcher works great on cleanrom 1.7.5 and ineffabilis 1.4(currently on).

I use go launcher myself. I started using it real close to it's initial release and it definitely offers the most complete package among it's competitors in my opinion.
I am on Eclipse 2.2 but am interested in upgrading to an ICS rom and see that they use different launchers. I have bought launcher pro plus and ADW EX, but am actually still using the "dead" launcher pro because it is still faster than ADW. I am very anal about speed and lag. Hopefully both ICS launchers are fast and I don't have to worry about performance? what are your thoughts on the ICS launchers? Performances and speed is my number one concern, and I am willing to pay. Thank you.

Also +1. Dunno why but always had some weird issues with Nova while Apex is indeed running smooth and have better options for me. I recommand you to go for Apex, wont be disappointed imo.
Apex all the way...its clean, simple and user friendly.
Apex is the best i won't change it ever
Apex all the way
They both have free versions in the play store. Try them both out and use the one to your liking. I am partial to Nova, myself.
try both, they both have free version on the market, for me nova is the choice...
Since I have ICS, I'm using Apex free launcher; It's very smooth and the best I've tried. When you try it, you'll hate other launchers.
Since Apex fixed the FC's a while ago I am very happy with it. All the settings and features available even in the free version are awesome. Swiping down to expand notifications is my favourite.
I like Nova
Nova for me. I started using it for the dock swiping when the Galaxy Nexus first came out. Now it looks like the Pro version of Apex has the same feature. Honestly, they are verging on the exact same feature set. Someone should put together a comparison chart.
I prefer Apex because the free version allows hiding of apps in the app drawer.

I was using Nova, but I switched to Apex as Nova was quite slow on my Desire. Apex is much smoother for me. They have pretty much the same features (I haven't noticed much difference although I haven't looked that far into either) I would give both a try and see which works best for you
Nova hands down, my friend is currently using it and I have to say its one of the best ICS launchers out there.
I'm quite impressed with Nova, but it might be that you need a fast processor to handle it, because it's incredibly smooth and responsive on my Galaxy Note.
I've tested them both, and Nova uses a lot more RAM resouces, so if you have an older phone definately Apex, and i think Apex is better in features too.
So what launcher you guys using. I'm trying to figure out which is a good one.

I don't troll, lol. I just gave my opinion that I like that one, . There was one of the guys/girls testing AOSP files on sense, they pulled them from the AOSP roms for the sensation, most seemed to work fine, so you could probably grab the AOSP launcher from that and give it a try, should work since I doubt it's name rosie.

+1 for apex. used to use go launcher but found apex to be more minimalistic, smoother, and simpler.

Out if all the launchers I've tried on this phone and previous phones. My favorite was ADW EX. Since owning the Amaze I can't steer away from Sense. I like the widgets and things. I know its just personal preference but everytime I use other launchers I can't set up my screens like I do with Sense. Once we have AOSP or any CM then I will probably change it up. But until then I'm sticking with Sense

Good find, sounds good, but you're totally right.. it has to catch up to apex more before I could use it as my DD. I read feedback that widgets aren't able to resized.. such a simple feature that I can't/won't do without. But it sounds better than the JB launcher I did try that had no extra features at all!
Is it just me or anyone else? I experience terrible lags in app drawer scrolling in all Apex/Nova/Go launchers. Trebuchet launcher is flawless without any lag. I dont know what could be the reason behind this despite the awesome hardware our phone has.
It happens for me in CM9 official and Stock ROM too.
Can anybody please give some input on this? Is there a solution at all?
I use Apex Launcher on mine and it's fine for speed. Tried a reinstall?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yes they are laggy as hell. GO Launcher was really fast but after last few updates app drawer is choppy.
But, there is a solution, find Cyanogen launcher, Trebuchet. I've used it on Cyanogenmod but now I'm using it on stock rom and it works flawless.

Either people cannot recognize choppy graphics or Sony made different versions of Xperia S for different markets.
It is choppy, even with a stock launcher (not always but it does happen) l.
The term "butter smooth" should be used by ones who actually have oportunity to compare it either to iOS or Nexus

Compared with a Galaxy Nexus (Had one).
I must say that running the .45 firmware and the beta version of apex launcher which is you can get from their site or download in the advanced menu of the app. The phone is running amazingly smooth. I think it's a combination of both but especially after the latest firmware that the phone is flying.

It seems strange if you lag is just restricted to the app drawer

That actually leads me to believe that vendors like Sony have different versions of Xperia S for different markets. Which sucks.
