It is kernel panic mode. You should flash proper kernel to your rom or even entire firmware with Odin. You could use the same as installed now on your phone. 1 file firmware will not wipe your phone, but if it will stack on boot than you should wipe cache and dalvik or even wipe/factory reset.

[Q] My Galaxy S2 only accepts official ROMS, no custom rom working please help

Hi there,
I've got a huge problem.
After having tried the official Samsung ROM (2.3.5, I9100XXKI3), I rooted my phone using CF-ROOT 4.2. That works perfectly.
Then, I've downloaded a custom ROM.
I've put the .zip file at the root of my phone.
Then, I have rebooted in recovery mode.
I've done a data/cache/dalvik wipe.
I've done a "install zip from card", using the zip file of the rom.
The script says everything is allright... but after restart my phone stays blocked at the same point : the Samsung Galaxy SII logo with the yellow triangle.
Nothing more.
I've tried 4 different custom roms and it does the same with all (Cyanogenmod, MIUI, Litening, Revolution).
With the Cyanogenmod, it's a bit different : i have the same issue but it also seems to loop reboot...
The only ROM that works is the official Smasung ROM that I install using Odin.
Any idea of what I can do to fix this ?
Any idea of what I'm doing bad ?
Many thanks
PS : I would love to install a MIUI.
PS : I've justed tried again to install MIUI, and now, after rebooting after the installation from CWM, the phone goes to Recoverymode by itself and says :
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
Try Cyanogen. I've heard a few things about installing from zip twice. After it's finished the first time, install from zip again. No guarantees off course.
You could try flashing an earlier official Rom first then cfroot then Custom Rom.
Read somewhere that you need to factory reset if you're downgrading which is possible since you're going from 2.3.5.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
you may flash the rom twice. or u can downgrade to official 2.3.4 (KH3) via Odin and then flash other custom rom u like
First of all, many thanks yo you all.
@meranto : Already tried and the only thing it does is a boot loop.
@aceofclubs : Good idea. That's what I'm trying right now.
@Henrywcy81 : flash twice : see above. Downgrade : again, good idea
Any advice on which Kernel I should use ? Could it be a kernel problem ?
Many thanks guys.
Wow I've just tried to downgrade and WOW.
Never had so much error messages.
I loose root but everything crashes just after the first Samsung Galaxy SII logo.
I have a lot of error messages saying that the phone can't mount partitions.
Sounds bad :S
Did you flash the downgrade with Odin?

i have same problem i cant flash custom rom only stock (KI3), always got boot loop, than i can only flash ki3 with repartition (pit file)..
have you installed at the end custom rom, and how (downgrade rom)?
After flashing with pit file flash xwki8 one file. Then cf-root 4.3 ki8.
Boot into recovery and flash whatever you want.

i tried, but i got boot loop again..
P.S. after fashing xwki8, basbend was KI3 and build number was KI3, only karnel was changed (xwki8)..
Hi, I have tried to method posted and nothing, I guess It has to do something with the pit file, I guess is messing and changing the way the phone is partitioned, and CWM Recovery cant find and mount the partitions.
The question is why some people manage to install custom roms? and other no?
I'm going to do it again, restore to stock KI3 with pit file (re-partitioning), modem and CSC and see if I can manage to install DarkyROM2_KI3_Base.
At this point I'm rooting my phone with cf-root 4.2.
Nope, it din't work!!!!! Any Suggestions?????
PDA: CODE_I9100XXKI3_CL577579_REV02_user_low_ship.tar

CF-ROOT as PDA:CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KI3-42-v4.2-CWM4
Custom ROM: DarkyROM2_KI3_Base
What i'm doing wrong????

Im sorry for creating a new thread but i have little problem with my phone.
Yeah its my fault that i´ve checked the pit file in case trying to install beta ics rom
XXKP8 and after that my phone comes with an error. That error is CWM. Witch can´t install any rom. Phone is not compleately dead i can boot to original rom after flashing that through odin but thats it.. only original rom.. no 3rd party rom ..
i dont know how to fix this.. i´ve trying to search everywhere but it seems that i am the only one who have this problem.

NP, beware ICS bootloaders, lots of people have got themselves in a pickle because of them.
well.. it seemed that everything is alright again. but it is not.. well maybe partialy i dunno. i´ve flashed KL1 stock rom from that thread everything was going well exept 3G wont work. Then, i´ve flashed syah´s kernel for CWM through odin. again.. everything ok. But then i´ve flashed CM7 through CWM5 -> restart -> kernel panic. i tought that CM7.zip has kernell inside so that wasnt be a problem.. but something is wrong.. i´ve trying install miui.. same thing.. but with another kernell. With syah´s, it was ok because syah´s is compatible with miui but CM7 is not ? its like a merry-go-round
so im asking again please... what is wrong ?
Did you flash the modem as well?
There seems to be some random problems with the newest SiyahKernel and CM7, do the following
Put CM7 zip in internal sd card
Flash any CWM kernel
Flash CM7 zip
Reboot to recovery
Flash CM7 zip again
Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache
hmm interesting.. phone is trying to boot but it loops at trying to boot
triangle triangle triangle ... :>
Bootloop thread
been there, done that, doest not solve anything
only going bat to stock rom and then i can continue again:
flashing stock XXKK5 -> ok
flashing siah -> boots -> ok
flashing cm7 nightly 116 -> kernell panic
flashing cf-root -> flashing cm7 nightly 116 -> "boot loop"
again -> "boot loop" (not boot logo but triangle keeps going)

The pits seem to be identical, so I dont think thats the problem, you *could* try flashing a GB rom with a GB pit, but of cause if something happens mid flash you could hardbrick your phone, at your own risk, and I don't even think it would help.
Apart from that I am all out of ideas..
nwm thank you for all your help i think ill be just using stock or miui or i will w8 for cm 9
I seem to have a similar problem. Originaly Running stock 2.3.4 i flashed ICS 4.0.3 following a guide on or linked at samfirmware which insisted we should tick repartition and add .pit file. I tried flashing without the repartition + .pit but didnt work so ticked the box and added the .pit file, flashed pass ICS runs.
Every other rom i flashed never required repartition + .pit now i am only able to run 2.3.6 or ics but nothin below 2.3.6 if i flash anything else i get the same as op.

[Q] Clockwork Recovery *PLEASE HELP*

Hi guys, I recently flashed Clockwork Recovery but I've got slightly problem. I can't get back into my phone now as it just hangs at the samsung logo and I can get into clockwork recovery however I've got another issue:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recover/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recover/last_log
E:Can't mount /sdcard
Any ideas anyone? I have no idea whats gone wrong with it. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2 UK sim free handset I9100 so don't understand where it could have gone wrong and now I can't flash anything to it and don't know where to get a stock rom for use with odin.
Please help!
Thanks in advance
Dave
You can get stock roms at samfirmware.com
Thanks but...
Cheers for that dude! The issue I have though is once I'm done with that does that mean I can't get CWM Recovery to work on my handset, if thats the case then that means I can flash any custom roms. Also could it be a problem with the bootloader? I unlocked the bootloader on my Galaxy Nexus but don't know if I should have done that on my S2.
Any ideas as I'm still canny new to this and not sure with the S2.
Thanks again!
Try just Chainfire's CF-Root, it is just a kernel package that roots the phone, adds busybox and CWM.
Type in *#1234# into your phone dialer, and download the package that meets the PDA section in that menu. In my case, it is I9100XWLP3, so I would download Chainfire's LP3 Root. When you have found your PDA, post it back here for the correct download.
Chris.
Also samsung doesn't lock your bootloader, there's no need to unlock

Galaxy S3 Stuck on Boot Screen after Flashing a ROM

Hi, I'm new to these forums and need some help!
I just rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 yesterday using the Odin ver 1.85 tool and it was working perfectly all day. I was doing a little research as to how you can use custom ROMs and so I decided to give it a try.
I downloaded the ROM Manager application and flashed the ClockworkMod Recovery that comes with it before attempting to flash a ROM. I then proceeded to download the CyogenMod ver. 9.1.0 that comes with ROM Manager as well. I made sure to make a backup of my current ROM on both my internal and external SD cards and then went ahead and flashed the Cyogen ROM using the application. I also chose to wipe the data/factory reset before confirming.
After the process was done, the phone rebooted with the Cyogen logo and it was all working fine for the first 2 minutes. Then all of a sudden while going through the new ROM's screens, my phone rebooted showing the "Samsung GALAXY S III GT-I9300" message and with a little red "!" mark on the top left. It stays like that all the time. I tried turning the power off and taking out the battery but it always goes back to that screen immediately after.
I'm able to go into the ClockworkMod recovery by holding the volume up+power+home buttons but I see the following lines below:
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.2
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I've tried wiping the cache, wipe data/factory reset, and wiping the dalvik cache options but it doesn't seem to work. I also tried flashing the ROM again from the SD card, but when I try to do it, it says "E: Can't mount /sdcard/". Same thing with my external SD card.
When I plug the phone to my computer, it doesn't seem to detect my device either. Is my phone bricked and will I have to get a new one if this is the case?
I tried to do some searching and this thread seems to be similar to what I'm facing but not quite as the methods suggested by the users are unknown to me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500947
I appreciate any help I can get!

I tried to flash the i9300 firmware using Odin as suggested but it failed during the process (attached screen shot). I tried doing this 2 or 3 times but I always got the FAIL message. Is there anything else I can try doing before giving up on my phone? Maybe I flashed the wrong file?

Yeap you are right, I should have stated that!
The article states that you should user root66 and Linked boot chains for your device.
This sounds like it might help with OP problem.
He for sure has wrong kernel ... that is similar enough to work but screw is mounting point. Try change kernel with odin ... then flash with odin twrp or philz recovery and flash a proper rom

There is a small chance that the efs folder might be corrupted.
You can install a custom recovery like Philz Touch and try to do factory reset from there.
