Do we have access to the 11 gigs? And other questions... - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I just read an old thread from when I first got this about getting to the 11 gigs. The thread ended with no real answer. Is there a newer way to get the full space of the NT with out using the mount app? My Nook is also outdated and im going to update cwm . Can I now do this with out the sd card? I don't give two craps about ever going back to stock.
Just seen the thread below mine, I take it that will free up the 11 gigs.

Well, I've been using the CWM from Indirect's app since the first day it was released. If you have a 16GB NT, I see no real reason to have to update.
As for getting the rest of your storage space, you can either get half of it by taking your NT into a Barnes and Noble. Or you could do it manual and choose for yourself how much you want partitioned and where. Here's the how-to: click me.

Thanks

Maybe if you had a PayPal link...
I think the OP was asking if Android can be run from the phones internal storage memory, not nand. Although I cant think of a solid reason anyone would want to do this, idk maybe if you wanted to be able to switch sd cards and keep running the same build idk. Should be able to do from storage memory as long as haret is made to look there rather than the sd card right?
yes right.. but i think its not possible

[Q] Android market; acclaim_update.zip

I used acclaim_update.zip, but I can't get android market to stop crashing? i have Amazon Market working.....no gapps...what I am i doing wrong?
Do you mean you used acclaim update to push your NT back to 1.4.0 from 1.4.1? Which rooting method did you use, because Indirect's Nook&Zergy, the sd card by Brianf21/Indirect's should include gapps as well. In general it sounds like it wasn't run over well, might be best to unroot and reroot the device.
Sorry, I'm not rooted. I unrooted because I couldn't see my books from Nook app, so I enabled USB bugging, and installed the Amazon market, and the rest of my .apk's. Its there a way to install Android market without root, because full root I wasn't able to see my books I purchased

I was trying to exploit acclaim_update.zip, but changing a few things around to see if I can get Android market without doing a full root.......Sorry for the confusion.......
Using the Nook&Zergy to root your stock device should have no hindrance with B&N content. I used all of their stuff until I put CM7 on my NT. Also, the market will not work on a stock/unrooted device.
can u direct me to what nook&zergy you used that allowed you to use the B&N book reading? because when i did it, i could not.

I finally gave in and roted my Nook Tablet to gain access to the Android Market. A developer on here, Albert Wertz (albertwertz) makes videos (and SD cards if needed) available that tell you exactly how-to.
I bought a Nook Tablet last weekend, and got fed up trying the various work-arounds to get into the Android Market. I was able to sideload a few apps that I found here and there, but after all that, it still wasn't the tablet I'd hoped for, especially for the price.
I watched Albert's videos SEVERAL times, flashed a 32 Gb SD card I already had, and it worked GREAT! I couldn't be happier about the results! I logged straight into teh Android MArket, and can still do the B&N store as well.
I shot Albert a few bucks in appreciation for his help. Please remember to do do the same!
okay im going to give it a try tonight, I'll let know how it goes

Okay I rooted, but the XDA development app, keeps crashing...Wtf! If it ain't something...smh
Your phone is void! If its not powered by Android.........
Let me guess, you're using the free version? You can use the paid version, the website, or get TapaTalk (which is free on GetJar).
Couldn't find the app on getjar.....do tippy have a link

Nice thanks for this all we need is root now I'm so tired of not being able to use my SD card for anything but media
If the root method you are helping me with works you can just place the vold.fstab on system/etc yourself, glad to be helping

As I stated, I can already use it for everything and Im still not rooted and still locked. I can move downloaded files to it, I can easily access anything on the SD card.
oh yes sir you can ''use'' it but all apps are automatically installed to the ''sd card'' (internal hard drive)
will reflashing undo the swap?
Good question for those wondering this mod (I guess its a mod) works

i looked at the code, but i'm not enough of a linux guy to tell
Flashing the original vold.fstab will reverse this. So, yes, reflashing will undo it.
As soon i finish exams ill make a flashable zip to reverse it

This mod is wonderful. I like knowing that if my phone's internal memory fails (or if I accidentally wipe it), I can just pop out my SD card because it has all my important data. For me, one of the benefits of most Android phones over the iPhone is the removable memory! And only about half of the apps I use were able to default to using the external card when the internal one was present and mounted first. Switching them solves that.

The idea came up since we only have 4.5gb for ourselves with this you can have up to 64gb, if only we could spread the word

As anybody using this noticed any lag? I am guessing a class 10 card would be recommended.

Hmmm this is nothing related to lag i really mean it, lag associated with sdcard is usually using swap

Not necessarily. Coming from the Nook Tablet forums, this has been an issue that has been debated for some time. When you want to write quickly to a card you are better off with a higher class. However, if you need to read from a card, i.e. running an app or a whole OS, or booting off of into a recovery, higher rated cards don't mean faster read rates. Some lower class cards have a higher read rate. There is a discussion about this in the Nook Color forums and is hit on sometimes in the Nook Tab forums, sorry I don't have a link though.
IMHO Sandisk class 4 have the highest performance for reading from. This may not apply though, once you go to a bigger cards; 16G or 32G - I've only had personal experience with 4G cards.

I would absolutely NOT go and ask BN to do anything with a rooted device! So YES, backup and unroot before going there!
If you can do with the 8 GB you get at BN, you can also do it yourself with the "repart.img" that you can find with a little bit of searching. As I understand it that's something similar (or the same?) as what they'll use at BN store anyway. Fully automatic, no need for ADB or anything. It will repartition and give you 8 GB, and your device will be returned to it's original state (1.4.0 for the ones I have dealt with).
Does this work wtih 16 gb nook tablet? And do you know the thread?

Well, then you need to do more research! If you have managed to root it once you can do it again after you've been to BN to get the 8 GB. If you don't think the 8GB is enough there really is little anyone here can do. I admit I cannot get everything that written here, so I pick and choose what I CAN do with my limited skills. I think you need to do the same. Unroot, go to BN and settle for the 8 GB they will give you and then root again, like you did the first time.
So if i bring it to them....what do i tell them? To repart my nook?

Yes. Tell them you want them to repartition you Nook so you have more memory. They'll tell you several times that you will lose all information on your Nook, then they slap a microSD card in it, it reboots and repartitions the internal memory, then flashes the original Nook OS again.

[MOD] Get More App Space! No More "Insufficient Storage"

INSTRUCTIONS, LINKS AND DEV NAMES IN SECOND POST
Yesterday I decided to just go ahead and try something they said was meant for the SGS 2 International only. I couldn't find any one that confirmed that it worked on the i777 (don't worry I'm using an i777 just a i9100 rom). I repartitioned the device moving my app storage up from the default 2.+GB to approximately 5.9GB at the cost of loosing some internal storage (now 7+GB) but who cares I got a SD card for that.
Here's a screenshot

You may have been beaten to the punch, as this was already accomplished for the i777:

Been away for a Lil while, yeah, maybe I was beaten to it but that method is kinda tedious and it doesn't offer the as many options. I'll post the way I found too just as another option
