My rezound has the stock ROM that came with the phone. It was locked and rooted. While it was rooted, I defrosted all the apps in Titanium so it was stock. I then relocked the phone. I am also S-On. I started the 299mb update and it appeared to load but nothing happens, I tried a factory reset but it won't reset. Amon Ra is no longer on the phone but apparently Titanium is still working so I must still be rooted. Is that what is keeping me from loading the new ICS? If so, how do I unrooted the phone. I don't see a way to uninstall Superuser. I have tried the factory reset in both the settings/storage and the one in hboot and neither will reset the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
use the stock ice ota ruu zip file from android police.

warning, this ruu will do a factory reset and wipe the internal sd. The microSD card should be left untouched.

Thanks, I have tried the stock GB RUU 2.01.605.11 to get back to stock but it gives me an error message about the bootloader in the end and does downgrade the current 2.01.605.12 I have.
I am still rooted so is that a problem--do I need to unroot first?
I'll download your suggested ICS OTA. Why is this OTA twice as large as the OTA coming over the phone? It also states that the phone needs to be locked and fully stock. Again, I am locked but can't get back to fully stock.
being rooted should not be a problem.
I was rooted and bootloader locked and it went well.
You will lose root.
The ruu is larger because it contains everything. The OTA is smaller because it only contains files which have changed.
good luck,
Howard
p.s. I have read advise that it is best to install the ruu twice, then let it boot up normally the first time before installing customized things like hboot, recovery, kernel, or ROM.

Thanks again. I'm at 45% on the download. How does this differ from the OTA coming to the phone--don't know its number since it never downloaded.

Sadly, I downloaded the 4.03.605.2 file, renamed it PH98IMG.zip put it on the external SD card root folder, powered down, did a power + vol down, and the phone went to bootloader but did not see the file. Had done the same thing with a GB stock recovery file and it didn't recognize it either. Phone is relocked. Very frustrating.

Sometimes people accidentally rename it PH98IMG.ZIP.ZIP because windows, by default, hides the file extension name.
Also make sure the file is located on the top directory on sdcard2. You can download the free ES File explorer to look at the file on the phone.
If you can't manage to rename the file properly and place it in the right location, then it simply will not install.

Howard, your brilliant. The file did have the double "zip". So, I loaded it on to the external sd card, checked it in Root Explorer to see that it was on the top directory and labeled correctly. Went into Boodloader and it recognized it and went through the process. After the first flash, I flashed it again as suggested and then did a factory reset before booting the first time. Then I rebooted and nothing had happened--no ICS and no factory reset!!!!
The RUU did not work, the factory reset does not work (either from the bootloader or the settings menu) so I'm still relocked, rooted, and using 2.01.605.12. Before I tried the ICS updated, I tried to downgrade to 2.01.605.11 but again, it flashed in bootloader but did nothing.
I'm about ready to give up on updating to ICS sadly.
That is very strange.
An RUU should reinstall everything.
Maybe you have no recovery?
You mentioned in your first post that you have no recovery?
Maybe the RUU uses recovery for some functions like factory reset and other things?
Maybe later well connect on yahoo messenger and try to get the stock recovery installed on your phone. I am not sure it will solve thus, but it is something to try.
Right now I am not home to help you.
On second thought, I really do not understand why an RUU will not replace all software and firmware on your phone. It should replace your hboot, recovery, kernel, system, radios, etc..
I have a little anxiety trying to replace portions of your system with that in the RUU.
You currently have a working phone, and I'd rather not risk turning it into a non working phone.
Perhaps others here have some ideas as to why the ICS RUU failed to work for you, yet gave you no error messages.
Regards,
Howard

I'm currently installing the ICS OTA just to see what happens but I doubt if it will take. If that fails, I'll reinstall AmonRa 3.15 and see if that does anything. Again, thanks for all your input.

I think I would have to unlock again in order to install AmonRa 3.15, if that's what you mean by recovery.

Howard, I think I solved it. It was the mainver--it was older. I unlocked again and then installed a generic mainver that works with any install. Now I have everything back to stock GB, wiped, and relocked. I think I'm going to start with with the official ICS OTA and see where that goes.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi, everyone who have been waiting for a way to downgrade their HBOOT so that they can get S-OFF, cause they upgraded to the Official RUU Rom... I think I found a solution for you!
Also give you permanent ClockWork Recovery!
I haven't test it on any other Slide, cause I have only one. So, sorry if it didn't work for you.
Here is what I did, in case you're wondering, I downloaded the Official RUU from HTC Support website, extracted the 'rom.zip' file from Windows Temp folder that it creates, replaced the newer 1.02 HBOOT with 0.52 HBOOT, that I got from 'ESPRIMG.zip' (the Stock rom).
And also replaced the recovery.img with ClockWork Recovery img file.
Then I just renamed the 'rom.zip' file to 'ESPRIMG.zip'
Put it in the root of my memory card, powered off, rebooted into BOOTLOADER, and it detected the file and asked me if I wanted to update, I chose YES, and it went on without a hitch. Next thing I knew, I had 0.52.0000 HBOOT, with permanent ClockWork Recovery(so I dont have to use 'update.zip' anymore), and also the Official Latest 2.15.531.3 unmodified rom, (I like stock Espresso, that's why I bought it ) but you will LOSE ROOT but SuperOneClick method works for me to gain root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Method:
1. Download this 'ESPRIMG.zip' file - http://www.mediafire.com/file/cuemg74en7kk0a3/ESPRIMG.zip
2. copy/paste it to your memory card, in the root, not on any folder.
3. Make sure your card formatted to FAT32 file system, or it won't detect it.
4. Do a Nandroid BACKUP, if you can, cause I don't know if this will work for you. But it will wipe all your data and setting. SO BACKUP!
5. First you need to wipe data and factory setting, and wipe cache and wipe davlik cache (Otherwise it bootlooped for me). So boot into recovery first!
You can do that by going into BOOTLOADER first then selecting Recovery ( for that remove memory card from mobile or else it will start update) or if you have ROM Manager then you can use that to reboot into Recovery, any recovery will do stock or clockwork.
6. Ok, so after Wiping from recovery. PULL battery, then insert back the memory card with ESPRIMG.zip file on it. Reboot into BOOTLOADER, and apply the update.
It should do a reboot automatically to downgrade the HBOOT.
You will see the change if it worked. After applying the update, reboot phone normally.
And if all done correctly, you should have 0.52.0000 HBOOT, and also a permanent ClockWork Recovery. Now you can root by using SuperOneClick method. And also get S-OFF (I didn't need it, cause I have permanent S-OFF! , at least that's how I explain it)
Im guessing it worked for me because I have a factory unlocked S-OFF HBOOT from HTC. Because, to try this out first, I updated my phone via the OFFICIAL RUU from HTC Support Website and it showed S-OFF on my 1.02.0000 HBOOT.
Then I tried this method and it did downgrade my HBOOT and I still had S-OFF without doing the AlphaREV method.
So I guess I have a kind of permanent S-OFF??! :S :?
Hit thanks if it helped.
I am no developer but I am learning
Any feedback would be appreciated.
And yes, my major is CS and I LOVE IT!
Don't ban me please! Just helping the community! And this is kind of a rom
can anyone confirm this working?
EDIT: i got really curious and decided to try... its a no go, after loading zip it checks it but never gives the option to update. it was worth a try though...
Well I'm pretty sure since the phone already had the higher hboot with S-OFF, of course you can downgrade to an older one because there is no security to prevent it from happening, clearly.
But I did upgrade my phone from the RUU, wouldn't that have made my hboot S-ON?? But it didn't.
Also this is created from the latest Rom Update RUU from HTC, so there shouldn't be a problem with applying the update from hboot, and I think it shouldn't give tat error, that 'the version yiu are flashing is lower thsn the current', sonething along the lines of that.
But as you know I dont have anyother Slide available to me. So, it may be worth a try. Only you guys can tell.

But it should detect the ESPRIMG.zip, at least it should go on to verify the package and then promt for update. Was your memory card formatted to FAT32 and not just FAT??

Maybe you could get the hboot file from an old rom and switch it with a recent rom and try that
Hi, sorry for bumping an older thread, but I was wondering if anyone has the file from the media fire link?
I would like to downgrade from hboot 1.02 but I don't know where else to go to get the files.
So I don't know why, but the RUU exe files just don't work for me. I've done everything but start fresh on my PC, but it's exam week in a computer modeling class and I just can't do that right now!
I've had nothing but problems since I attempted one of the 2-step processes out there for updating to the radios/kernels, so I really want to get through an RUU so I know I'm clean at my lowest levels.
I have found the PH98...zip files for the shipped version of the ROM, but thoes don't work due to my version of HBOOT (not mainver.. that never got updated).
Does anyone out there have one for the newest RUU? At this point, I think flashing that from HBOOT is the only option I have.
I have no idea how to extract it myself, so I can do that too if someone can tell me how!
Thanks for any help.

Oh yeah. Really, tried everything. It sees the phone, reads the current build, goes through the next screen or two, and then once it says "Rebooting to Bootloader" it either sits there for a couple minutes till it times out and errors or errors immediately. I cannot find any other posts of people having problems, so I'm really at a loss. Makes me worried about having more troubles once the official ICS build comes out... but I probably have a lot of time till then.
Thanks guys!
Tried this as well, and my phone is not seeing the file
Make sure you are naming the file correctly "PH98IMG. zip" the instructions provided give a different file name than want the Rezound uses.

I updated to the latest ota that verizon sent out. I didnt flash a rom, only perm rooted/unlocked...I relocked my phone tried the ruu exe many times didnt work..I done a backup of my nandroid but it took me back to the earlier firmware but still have the updated radio..So, I will relock it and place this on my sd card and try again..I was getting error 140 on the ruu exe
Here is the no-brainer fix for those that end up having Mainver issues, or maybe want to come back from an ICS ROM to GB and RUU and the normal methods don't work...
Go to www.scottsroms.com and hit the download section, look for Rezound and Stock Roms. Grab his boot image for the latest OTA.
Then download his "Cleanflash" utility and copy the boot.img file to that directory on your PC.
Run it and select option "2".
That restores the stock boot image and mainver right there. If you made a Nandroid of your system from before you went to ICS, boot into recovery and restore it. His tool will also install Amon Ra or CWM recovery, just like the boot image, download the one you want and copy that recovery.img to the cleanflash folder and run the tool.
I went from a completely hosed ICS install which would not allow RUU or Hbooting the PH98IMG.zip file... nothing worked, was contemplating replacing the phone, when I tried Scott's tool to push the stock boot image to the phone and then restored my Nandroid.
Worked 100% in under 5 minutes, the Nandroid Restore taking most of that time.
Hope this helps!
Ok, so I got my rezound today and the first thing I did was unlock the bootloader because of the factory reset, I didnt want to adjust any settings just to wipe them out. So i unlocked the bootloader and everything was smooth. Then I rebooted my phone and then tried to install Amon Ra via the guide in the development section. I did everything to the tee but the phone never rebooted automatically so I manually rebooted and then powered down. I deleted the PH98IMG file from my sd card (which was for the 1.02.605.6 version) Then I tried to access the Recovery via the volume down and power buttons. When it looks like the recovery is going to load but I get an image of a phone with an exclamation point inside of a red triangle ...???? So i booted my phone back up it would no longer connect via USB mounting as storage, I tried everything from formatting the SD card to factory resetting, to rebooting my computer. No idea why that all of a sudden my USB would not connect, I get a CD ROM auto play notification with a white square with VZ inside of it, WTF!?! Ok, also I cannot update to the newest software version. I even relocked but when my phone says checking for new software it just dissapears and nothing happens. This is so frustrating, I just wanted to install Amon Ra to perm root so I could install cleanrom but apparantley im doing something wrong and I have no idea, just trying to follow directions, theres just so many files and im not sure if I have the right ones
I tried to install Amon Ra with the AIO by Hasoon but all I get is a command prompt with this in it
'C:\Users\User\Documents\Desktop\HTC' is not recognized as an internal or extern
al command,
operable program or batch file.
C:\Users\User\Documents\Desktop\HTC ReZound\AIO Toolkit\Rezound_All-In-One_Kit_V

Also, I charged my phone for like 2 hours when I got it, briefly powering it on twice, the battery light is still orange and the meter under about phone/battery is full and it still says charging???
EDIT: My device is connecting via USB all of a sudden magically....

Yes I had to have the drivers installed to unlock it.... One more thing, I just did the oneclickroot method and it says that I now have perm root. I thought the one click was just a temp root. Yes definately do it from fastboot. I just makes things to much easier.
Also I would apply the OTA before you get to far into the setup process as it will require you to relock your phone to get the new radios from Verizon.

I did relock my phone "fastboot oem lock" from fastboot...it verified that it was "relocked" at the top. Then I tried to boot up the phone and checked for new updates and it searched for about 20 seconds and then just dissapeared and did nothing, just like when it was unlocked. I'm nervous to do anything to this thing now, i tried to restore a backup of apps that I had backed up from my Droid X, and it stuck at the boot logo, I've had to factory reset a handful of times already trying to figure this thing out. I just spent 2 hours re downloading all the apps I had. I suppose I would make a new backup before I try anything else.
Ok first of all you should never do a restore from a phone other than the one you are restoring to, that is just asking for problems.
Next, google RUU_Vigor.
You want the 2.01 version. This will give you the update and wipe your phone clean as if you had just taken it out of the box, meaning it will delete all your data.
After it is complete you can download the Amon Ra img file. Place that in the same directory that adb and fastboot are in. Rename it to Amon_Ra.img. Get your command line to the folder that you have fastboot in and then type this command, "fastboot flash recovery Amon_Ra.img" (without the quotes)
You now have the update and Amon Ra loaded on your phone. Boot into recovery and install su from the developer menu and boom you are done. Phone rooted.

Ok, awesome. This sounds doable except installing the RUU, I found the file and its downloading now but how do I install it? I notice it's a zip file but do I extract it and install the contents of it via fastboot as well? Or is there a way to flash zips with the stock recovery menu? Also, I am guessing a backup would be wise before this and the current version of Amon Ra is 3.14, the one titled "recovery-ra-vigor-3.14-gnm.img" . Just rename it to Amon_Ra.img, place it in platform-tools of my SDK files and install via fastboot?
Also, isn't there a newer RUU? A leaked 3.10.605.13? I have seen that ROMs are based off it but I cannot find the actual file anywhere...
No. The RUU is for official releases only. If you're getting the PHzip file of it then just put it on your ext sd card and it will run in bootloader. Just boot the phone and it will find it. Then make sure to delete that file when it's done so your phone won't find it every time you boot.
If you download the exe file then you run it on your PC by double clicking on it and will need HTC.sync installed.
As to Amon Ra, personally I don't like to rename files I've downloaded from a dev so they don't get lost and disorganized. It's up to you, but you don't have to rename it to flash it, just type the name it has exactly. People rename it for easier typing I guess so if you do that I would suggest at least keeping the version number in the name.
Then after you flash Amon Ra, navigate to its developer menu and install su and then you'll be rooted.

If you really want to start fresh you need to grab the RUU. That is the official release from HTC and will put you completely back to stock. Get it here:

I recommend going the RUU route to be certain you get your phone wiped clean. When I ran it for a fresh start it got rid of old folders/files that flashing a ROM did not. Here's some instructions I posted for someone before:
5) Download the RUU for your mainver to your computer.
This is an exe file so just run it on your pc with your phone attached. You need to be locked and you need HTC Sync installed. Now you are back to stock.
5a) Unlock your phone again using the same unlock bin file you got before by putting it in the same folder you are now using for sdk. Type the following command:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
If you don't have it obtain a new one by following the same steps you did before to get it originally. Here is a guide for that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20780879&postcount=1
Now you should be stock and unlocked.
6) Flash Amon Ra in fastboot. Get the lateset version, 3.14.
Type the following command to flash it:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.14-gnm.img
Now you should have Amon Ra on your phone.
7) Root your phone by installing su using Amon Ra. Go to the developer menu and find the option in there.
Now you should be stock, unlocked and rooted.
8) MAKE A NANDROID BACK UP NOW AND LABEL IT.
9) Flash a new ROM.
If you use that Stock Rooted ROM, just place it on your ext sd card, then go into Amon Ra and navigate to "flash from zip file" or something like that and select that and it will flash in recovery. Mostly kernels are renamed PHzip and will flash in hboot.

That smaller file you downloaded was most likely just a kernel.
feralicious said:

Ok, now I see. I think I had to install an older version of Amon Ra since my software version was older. I succesfully installed Amon Ra 3.10 and installed su and superuser, now I see that I can just flash zips from the menu much like CWM recovery on my Droid X. Now I just have to figure out why my f&%!ing router keeps dropping to local only every 5 minutes, it won't stay connected long enough for me to download an RUU file that size...
So if I flash the zip from scottsroms website do I have to put the kernel on the memory card as well so that it flashes correctly? Thats assuming that the PHzip file is the kernel
Do you have a link or know where I could find an all in one zip file so i dont have to mess around with seperate kernels...a zip that i could flash that has the basebands and everything, i would use the RUU that you posted a link to but its an exe and im not sure what to do with that...
Yes, you need to flash the kernel separately for that.
There is a thread for another stock ota ROM by con247. He has the update packed into it so it will flash the ROM then take you to hboot to flash the update. You need to lock your phone before flashing the update to get the new radios.
So...
Put ROM on sd card
Flash in recovery
When you get to bootloader put phone in fastboot and connect to PC
Relock phone
Flash PHzip in hboot
Unlock phone
Flash Amon Ra if needed (can't recall if you'll have stock recovery now or not)
Install su
The RUU is really easy. Just download it to your computer and double click on it. just have phone locked and HTC sync installed.

No I havent even updated to the newest software yet, I'm trying to download the RUU exe that con247 posted but my internet connection keeps dropping to "local only" and then reconnecting so it doesnt stay connected long enough for my to download a 500mb file, super frustrated about it right now lol

I think I may be slightly confused. The RUU is the update right? I just want the most current OTA update with the latest basebands and any bugs that were worked out in the January OTA...Once i'm updated I want to flash a ROM, or do I not need to update in order to flash ROMs? I wanted to check out the newest cleanrom but it says its based off of a leaked software version so idk really where to begin with that one...
The RUU is the complete ROM/kernel/recovery with updates, as long as you get the 2.x one. It will get you stock updated with a factory fresh phone.
You can also get stock with the update from the con237 Stock OTA ROM, which is different than the RUU at that link that con247 also posted.
You do need to update if you want the latest radios.
Are you downloading to your computer? Perhaps you can download to your phone using 4g? Or 3g if you don't get 4g where you are.

So I tried to run that RUU exe with my phone plugged in although my PC would not pick up my device and an installshield popped up and looked like it was loading something, but then it dissappeared and nothing happened. So I uninstalled the HTC drivers along with HTC sync and then reinstalled them. My device was then recognized by the computer but something calle TL-bootstrap wanted to install. I just ignored it. So with the phone plugged in I tried to run the RUU exe again and the same thing happened, nothing...
Alright, so I've got an S-On rooted Rezound and I'm stuck in the boot loop. YES I've read all the posts about logging in and dialing *#etc and also to go into Mobile Network and switch to LTE/CDMA, but I can't dial anything because the phone cuts off before I get a chance, and the LTE switch does nothing. I've tried flashing several different kernels, using the adb method and the PH98IMG methods, I've tried installing several different ROMS, I've done at least 10 different wipes/factory resets, I boot my phone without the cover, SIM card and without the SD card..and I'm still stuck in this boot loop. Someone please help a noob
---- EDIT WITH SOLUTION ----
Here's my "solution" to this issue. I'm sure it's located somewhere in these forums, but I couldn't find it so I imagine others can't either. Essentially, you're going to have to S-Off. Here's the solution:
I believe my recovery started acting funny after I failed to S-Off properly the first time. Amon Ra was all gimmicky and said stuff like "E: can't find cache" and reinstalling the recovery/wiping everything (and I mean everything: external SD, internal SD, cache, partioning SD card etc..) wasn't working. I tried re-installing Amon Ra through command prompt with the adb, I tried reinstalling my ROMS but my phone wasn't having it.
It got to the point all I could boot into was a white HTC screen, so I then tried out Twrp's 2.1 Touchscreen (I wasn't S-Off yet) recovery (I don't have enough posts to post a link yet ) which INITIALLY reported the same "E: can't find cache" errors as Amon Ra, BUT when I wiped my files in Twrp it seemed to actually fix them...I'm not sure exactly what I wiped or formatted that fixed the "E: can't find mount/cache" issues, so try everything.
So my ROM installed but I was still stuck on the white HTC logo. This is where I INSTALLED A NEW KERNEL THROUGH ADB. I wish I knew which kernel I installed, but I have like 10 and I just picked a random one. The point is if you're still stuck at a white HTC screen, install a new kernel.
So I got a recovery on the phone, and then I tried to S-Off again but I didn't have a good ROM installation so that was hanging at the HTC white screen. I then installed CleanROM DE 1.4 and I was able to boot into it, but ran into my initial problem of it crashing after dialing a number and entering infinite reboot. However, it would stay on just long enough for me to run ControlBear's program to S-Off.
So I S-Offed, I downloaded the Gingerbread RUU (the .exe version for Windows), I installed it, and now I can dial numbers and I'm all goodie again. Unfortunately, I honestly think the only way I was escaping my trouble was doing an S-Off, unless they leak a Ice Cream Sanwhich executable for Windows.
TL;DR Install Twerp 2.1 through adb, wipe everything, install CleanROM DE 1.4, install kernel S-Off, run Gingerbread RUU .exe

Have you tried running a RUU to put it back to factory like you just bought it?
I can't tell you how many times I've had to do that to fix stuff.

People say a lot of things are impossible, most have the virtue of never being tried.
This is the one I used to fix mine when I screwed up the partitions on my phone. I will warn you, the link in the thread takes you to another site & you have to sign up to download it. Its completely free & legit, but it won't let you download unless you register which is STUPID!

Let me know if that helps
Oh & BTW I was & still am on the ICS leaks when I did this, so you'll be fine. You will lose everything on your phone though, because it wipes everything. But if you can't use it, that's not really an issue I guess.

The PH98IMG file. And I believe I'm flashing the properly..I do it twice; flashboot in adb, it tells me success, I then flash again right there, and then I reboot back to the bootloader and flash again so I do it 3 times in total.
I'm downloading the Vigor executable now. It's going to take a while but I'll report back with my results.

PH98IMG is not going to help you in this situation. You are going to have to download & run the RUU that I linked in the previous post. Trust me on this, not only have I already tried that before, I've blown my phone up enough times to know.

Ok, I went to use the RUU and at first I got error 150, so I read somewhere I should lock my bootloader, so I relocked and now I get error 140, whcih is bootloader verision error. I think that's because I'm on ICS with S-On right? Is there any ICS RUU I can use to restore my phone? I downloaded Vigor_Stock_Doedexed_3.14.605.5 before but it still wasn't working for me.

Unless you are already on the gingerbread build, and it sounds like your not, if you are s-on, it simply will not work. My suggestion is to download the latest leak and that should get you going. If it were me, and I aleady did it, download the latest leak here: http://android.thesmallprint.org/ICS.LEAK.3.14.605.5_PH98IMG.zip. Rename it PH98IMG.zip and put it on your external sd card. Should take less than 10 mins to download. Reboot into bootloader and let hboot install it. Make sure you are locked or relocked. After that is installed either delete or change the name of that file. Reboot into bootloader, unlock, and install either amon ra or tpwr and you can reinstall that rooted rom.
what he said
mikey's comments just previous are totally right, but after install, i would recommend
a factory reset, maybe even twice.
your bootloop problem should be cured then...
I was on the latest ICS firmware running an ICS ROM when I had to run the RUU I gave the link for & it worked fine for me.
Here's my suggestion & you can take it for what its worth.
I would download the latest HBoot & Radios & flash them.
Then if you can get into recovery, wipe everything, manually wipe the system, boot, etc. Then after that try running the RUU.
I just did this earlier in the week & it worked fine & my phone was all screwed up because the partitions were mounting to the wrong places & just all messed up.
I am by no means a dev or an expert, I'm just telling you what I did.
WHATEVER YOU CHOSE, YOU DO AT YOUR OWN RISK, but I don't see where you really have a choice.
Let me know if I can be of anymore help as I know what its like to have a phone that's freaking out on you. You can PM me or post here which ever you prefer. If after that we still can't get it fixed, we'll go find a dev to help us.

Well now my recovery is saying it can't mount various things like "E: can't mount b dev/block/ blah blah"
And I tried flashing my ROM through Amon recovery but it's saying it can't open the file because it's (bad). I formatted the SD card and I'm still getting the issue. Any ideas?
Did you download the one from the link? You don't flash that PH98IMG.zip in recovery, you boot up into bootloader and let hboot find it. If when you get to your bootloader and it is fastboot, use your volume key and select on bootloader option. Then hboot will find it and ask you if you want to install it. Install it. After that, you will then need to reinstall either amon ra or the other but stay away from clockworkmod. But to reinstall the recovery, you will have to unlock again.

I did install in hboot. I then installed Amon so I could flash the ROM and that's what's giving me all those errors.
If all you are after is stock and rooted, try looking at this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642217
Since you ran the PH98IMG that I directed you to, you are now on ICS. So follow the directions in that thread for "S-On and ICS".
Installation for S-ON Devices on ICS firmware
•Copy ROM to SD Card AND PH98IMG.zip to ROOT of SD Card
•Reboot to recovery
•wipe data / Factory Reset
•Flash ROM
•Use Developer Menu to reboot to bootloader and flash the boot.img file in the PH98IMG.zip
•Reboot
•Profit!
Edit: The only change I would recommend is to hold off putting that PH98IMG file from that thread on the sd card right away. You will have a hard time getting to recovery if you have that on the card. I would suggest following all the instructions up to and including "Flash ROM". Then I would "return" back to the main Amon Ra screen, make sure you have the data cable connecting your phone to the computer, select "USB-MS Toggle", then select the SD Card, and that will allow you to copy the PH98IMG file to the SD card. Then continue with the rest of the directions. If you do this right, you should be ok.

It's the actual recover I believe to be giving me the errors, but I'll try what you said in about 2 days (I need to study for finals). It might be because I tried to S-Off and I installed all of that guys software and it might be making the phone act funny. I'll be much more descriptive about my errors when I post back in 2 days.
I fixed it!!
Ok, so I finally got it working, I'll try to detail my steps for anyone else who ran into similar issues:
I believe my recovery started acting funny after I failed to S-Off properly the first time. Amon Ra was all gimmicky and said stuff like "E: can't find cache" and reinstalling the recovery/wiping everything (and I mean everything: external SD, internal SD, cache, partioning SD card etc..) wasn't working. I can't seem to get back to stock for some reason, I've googled, searched the forums used the search function in the forums followed all those steps with bootloader unlocked and relocked and still Can't get to stock. My phone details are
HTC Amaze 4g (TELUS)
Android version: 4.0.3
Recovery: 4EXT
I'm not sure what other information is needed, I tried this thread here tried both files, the first one i tried restoring from recovery, says the MD5 sums don't match so I didn't want to take the chance. The second file the .exe attempted that failed right away and after removing battery phone went back to the same way it was. tried renaming the first file to PH85IMG and relocked bootloader, the flash succeeded it seemed, but once phone loaded nothing was changed..which I found very weird. It formatted I wiped caches, fixed permissions and get back to home screen after it was all done, and my apps were all still installed and settings were exactly the same and everything. (I had the feeling I'm already on stock and that's why its not working), the whole reason I was trying to get to stock is because in order to s-off juopunutbear's tutorial, where it didn't work the troubleshooting said problem is im not stock, or! i have certain programs installed. But I just reformatted and just installed the basics, so I have nothing that would interfere as far as I know.

You just need a Telus ICS stock RUU, not gb RUU. Rename the zip rom to ph85img, not the exe file, put to your sd, relock and boot the bootloader. It will scan and ask you to update, just say yes.
you're done.

I haven't checked for the Telus one. I've the Videotron ICS RUU, but it's won't help unless you're cid free. For the .exe, you have to get the rom, not rename the .exe to .zip. Just search in your temp (%temp%), when you activate the RUU you'll see some new folders. Look for it, rename and you're done.
Maybe someone else could post a direct link.
Maybe you can directly try with the OTA to get back. boot into stock recovery, if you have the red triangle error, hold volume up and press the power button, should give you a menu, then install update from external, select the OTA RUU and install.
Try that, maybe it will solve your prob.

Hmm I found the rom.zip but I can't do anything with it, just says its invalid.
where do you get the invalid message? I've extracted the rom.zip after starting the exe file, and renamed it and it worked no problem before. If I get a hold of my backup phone I'll see if I can load up a stock rom and do a backup, zip it and put it on dropbox for you. That won't be til tomorrow though, and at least that way you'll have the stock rom, one way or another

When I try to open it, I tried just renaming copying it to SD, it ran...but then said failed..older hboot....I believe. How would I be able to tell if I was on a stock ruu...I have a feeling I'm already stock...and that's why nothing is working...and my juopunutbear problem lies elsewhere.
did you try to flash with a stock recovery? You need a stock recovery to get the ruu to install. Did you change your hboot?
