Representation of purchased apps in the Google Play Store - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Because of the recent enhancements of the Google Play Store, we from pocketpc.ch have thought ourselves about further improvements and opened opened an issue (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=36810) with the following content at Google:
Since the introduction of the Play Store are purchased apps no longer displayed filtered. Instead, in the category "All" appear in the category „Personal Apps“ now all apps that were ever loaded on the concerned account.
Currently, on pocketpc.pc is running a survey on this topic:

From an upcoming update of the Play Store, we hope the following functions:
1. Filter for purchased apps (or a own, different, area)
2. Ability to delete apps in the category "All"
So please help us to make the Play Store more user-friendly and vote for a better future!

Voice command application roundup

While waiting for the on-board voice command app from Google bundled with Jelly Bean, I thought I'd check out the other apps out there currently in the Play store and here is my totally unscientific report.
I tried to come up with a list of queries that someone would use often, along with some fluff commands just to see what would happen. Your mileage may vary using any of the apps of course.
Assistant turned out to be the winner, followed closely by Jeannie, although it really could have gone either way since Assistant does things Jeannie can't do and Jeannie does things Assistant can't do.
Some other notes not mentioned in the sheet:
* Facebook integration was only partially tested because most of the "successful" results required their own custom FB app to be installed to your FB account. I didn't feel like cluttering up my FB, so I didn't completely follow through.
* I don't use Twitter, so this functionality wasn't tested. Many of the apps do mention Twitter in their respective pages in the store though.
* Some apps work directly with Evernote, some work directly with Tasker. I don't have either of these apps, so testing external app support such as this wasn't done.
I found many voice command apps in the store, but I'm sure I missed some. If so, please be sure to point them out and I'll add them to the list.
As updates to the various apps are released, I will update the report.

Google Play store shows content for wrong country

Hi,
I am not sure if this is the correct section to post this query.
I am in India. I tried to order the Google Nexus 4 from the Google Play Store using my office machine, which connects to the net using a US proxy. However, I cancelled my order later. Now the Play Store on my current phone shows all US content and I am forbidden from installing India only apps. The country in my Google Account still shows India and so does my address in Google Wallet (I had deleted the US addresses that I had obtained from a package forwarding service). Please help me get this resolved.
Thanks
even i have the same problem...
reset the app settings ?

From Google :
Thanks for contacting us about country support for Google Play. We use the billing address of your default payment instrument in Google Wallet to help determine your home country for accessing the Play Store. Our collection of content can vary by country, so your view of the Play Store may differ from what others are seeing when you travel outside of the country listed on your default payment method's billing address.
Please note that you must have a valid payment method with a billing address located inside a country in order to access that country's Play Store.
If you're having issues viewing your intended country's Play Store and would like to change your default payment method or update an existing billing address in Google Wallet, please use the following steps:
1) Sign into your Google Wallet account to manage your payment methods (https://wallet.google.com/manage/paymentMethods)
2) Add a new card or change your default payment instrument to one with a billing address located inside your desired country
3) Open the Play Store and navigate to any item available for download
4) Click to begin a download until you reach the "Accept and buy" screen (no need to complete the purchase)
5) Close the Play Store and clear data for the Google Play Store application (Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Clear Data) or clear your browser cache
6) Re-open the Play Store. You should now see the Play Store that matches your default payment instrument's billing country.
If you haven't yet added a payment method to your account for the first time, please add a card directly from the Play Store with a billing address that matches your intended country location. Then, follow steps 3 through 6 to show your intended country's Play Store.
If you believe that you're experiencing a different location-related issue, please first verify if the country of your primary payment method matches your intended country. If the countries match, please provide any screenshots and additional details that might help me resolve your issue.
We appreciate your feedback as we continue bringing more content to Google Play. Thank you for reaching out!
This worked for me, however on my second device I had to wipe Play store data/cache then re-accept T&C's

[Q] Google Play Store - How to find complete list of paid for applications

So, I have been looking on play.google.com for a way to find a complete list of paid for applications, that isn't hosted on Wallet as older games don't show up there.
Basically, I would love to find a place that has clickable links similar to this page (https://play.google.com/apps ) that can direct me to the google play store applications, rather then just being invoices or straight text.
On a side note, is there a place to make suggestions for the play store? I see they got rid of their product forums, and their "Contact Us" page is less than stellar for anything like suggestions.

How to add Aurora Droid to the Android 11 "Open With" menu option list?

How can I add "Aurora Droid" as an option to the list that pops up in the Android "Open With" menu?
Like many here, I don't use the default Google Play client (normally I have com.android.vending disabled) and (for privacy reasons) I don't have any Samsung or Google account (or any other account) registered in the Android 11 settings of my Samsung Galaxy A32 5G phone.
Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts === none
But it's OK to NOT have a Google Account registered to the phone because the Aurora Store app will spoof a sign-in to the Google Play repository, so I don't need (nor do I want) a Google account set up on the phone.
Even without a Google account set up on the phone, the Google Play app (aka com.android.vending) will will still scan for and manually UPDATE about a score of "google apps" that it knows about (mostly these are the small subset of stock apps which come with the phone initially from the carrier).
Since the Google Play app can only find a tiny subset of the apps on the Google Play repository to update, there's really no value in enabling the Google Play app in my situation.
That's because even if I temporarily enable the Google Play app (aka the "Play Store" app. aka "com.android.vending") will only update a very short list of stock apps (about a score or less which it calls "Google Apps", but that's incorrect nomenclature as com.android.vending will also update pre-installed stock Samsung and T-Mobile apps).
It would be great if I could use the Aurora Store to scan for all the hundreds of apps that have updates on the Google Play repository, so that I can (if I want to) update any set of them at a simple tap of an update button after that list of hundreds of apps that have updates on the Google Play repository is enumerated.
However, as far as I can tell, the Aurora Store doesn't have a setting to manually check for app updates, en masse, on the Google Play repository without actually updating the apps (that is, the Aurora Store has a setting for AUTOMATIC updating, which isn't what I want, and of course, you can type in the name of any given app and the Aurora Store will allow you to update it - but that's also not what I want).
A workaround is to add any decent free ad free gsf free "app updater", where I can then manually update ALL my apps (whose lists are in the hundreds and not just the extremely few that the Google Play app updates).

Software Update Checker : App & Game Updater 2021, by Pnixo
While these update checkers scan the Google Play repository to find HUNDREDS of apps that need updating, not just the score of apps that the com.android.vending app finds), and while these update checkers have a button to update each of the hundreds of apps whose newer version was found on the Google Play repository, ALL of them "open with" a list of apps that does NOT include the Aurora Store (see screenshots below).
How can I add "Aurora Droid" as an option to the list that pops up in the Android "Open With" menu?
To update the record, I still do not know what "magic" adds an app to the "Open with" list, but it happened again in this thread today:
How hard can it be to find a simple text editor that edits any text file stored anywhere you want it to be stored on your internal or external sdcard?
In that case, when you tapped on a text file in some file managers, the "Open with" contained the FOSS "Simple Text Editor" tool by Maxim Starkov (aka MaxiStar); but in other cases, that text editor wasn't part of the list of "Open with" options....
Sigh... I wish someone knew what the "magic" is that puts an application (such as a text file editor) into the "Open with" listing when you tap on a text file to edit it.
Otherwise, it's almost completely arbitrary - and that's sad if Android is really that random that the "Open with" list is essentially left to chance.

Question Google Play System Updates – Activity Name

I want to create a direct shortcut to check for Google Play system updates – does anybody know the Android activity I have to look for?
Google Play services provides an Activity .update.SystemUpdateActivity, but that one is for the regular system updates.
