Galaxy S2 GT-I9100(G)!!Cynogen Mod Help!!! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok. Here is it. I have seen a stable build of Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G, REMEMBER IS (G)!!!! Don't reply me with the answer of S2 without the G, I'm asking the[G] Version. So the stable build was here http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=i9100g&type=stable for the [Direct Download: cm-9.1.0-i9100g.zip ] So i wondering if it really stable and safe. So, here the Question.
1ST:Is it safe to flash? Will it brick? Worth it? And what Android version IS IT?
2ND:Is this CWM Good, Working, and Safe to flash? So, i'm giving 2 link, (Not downloaded from here)=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631934( and i found these word=This is a kernel including ClockworkMod Recovery for use on Samsung roms.
Don't use this kernel on aosp based roms like CyanogenMod!!!) And this link is where i'm downloaded the CWM and flashed it, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683800( because of GT-I9100G_LP7_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4 it make me think it is the same from the first link i gave that have LP7 hacked, and i wonder it will it be also not support cynogenmod.
3RD: If the CWM at STEP 2 is not supported, What CWM that is work for SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 GT-I9100G and Flash able to cynogenmod with not PROBLEM!
4ST: Anyone have this on their Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G? Is everything WORKING FINE? Is the Performance and Battery Good?
5ST: Do i need to factory reset the phone before and after? And can anyone tell me the step if you can?
My phone is rooted and my battery is so bad :crying:and i wonder is this rom good for battery and performance. I'm afraid of bricking my phone because of the CWM. I installed cwm on galaxy 5 and it died.:crying: So This is important information to me. and PLEASE ANSWER ALL MY QUESTION CAREFULLY!

First of all... You posted at the General Forum (which is wrong actually)... You should probably post at the Q&A Forum... Devs here will probably burn you for being demanding so much while showing excessive 'noobidity'

Demanding arse!

Alright, ill post this is Q&A forum that you said.

1. Yes, it is safe. And CM9 is Android 4.0.4
2. If you want CWM I suggest you to flash Horsepower kernel
3. CWM5/6
4. AFAIK, everything works
5. Only before changing the ROM.

hmm

[Q] How to install CM9 ICS rom on a Bell Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100M)

Hey. So, I bought the Samsung galaxy s2 with bell as soon as it was released (august 2011) and i expected there to be potential updates along the way, since it came stocked with android 2.3.3.
HOWEVER, bell, being its lazy self, haven't pushed the official updates for its i9100M modeled gs2. And I've gotten really bored with the TouchWiz UI, and was wondering how i would go about installing CyanogenMod's CM9 ICS on my UNROOTED STOCK Galaxy s2.
Phone information:
Model: GT-i9100M ( android 2.3.3) (un-rooted)
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100MUGKG2-CL371789
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
Any help would be much appreciated. thank you
Go search on google or here in the forums how to root the gs2 and install a custom recovery. Then go and flash the recovery and go to the CM9 link and download it and put it in your sd card. Then you can reboot into recovery by pressing volume up, home and power. Then follow the guide posted in the CM9 post by wiping data, etc. let the rom boot up and you've got cm9! I have a bell gs2 unlocked on Rogers running cm9 so feel free to ask me questions haha

So um, another question.
should I use this file over here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531222&) the 1.51 v?
And could you please link me the correct link on CM9's post on how i would install it?
Also, would you recommend that i flash it with this rom?
Cm9 is here http://get.cm/?device=galaxys2 grab the latest one at the top.
As for installing you'll find plenty of faq's in this forum, look around, read and read some more.

is it a stable build?
did you find anything wrong with it?
Could anyone also help me out with a Step-by-Step process on how to install CM9's ICS from my STOCK unrooted Galaxy S2.
I'm really new to this whole custom roms world, and I'm not exactly sure how everything is supposed to work out. But i'm very willing to give it a go
Thank you
diaperboy, did you update your gt-i9100m? I will try to do that (update to a custom rom), but I'm not sure if it will work out.

It was very simple.

[Q] From 2.3.4 to CM9 ?

Hey there,
I'm currently using a Galaxy S2, which is running stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 (no updates available through OTA nor Kies)
Baseband version: I9100XXKI1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI4-CL575468
Buildnumber: GINGERBREAD.XWKI4
And now I would like to get CM9 on my phone. Although I read quite a lot of threads and tutorials, I still have some
unanswered questions left.
Of course I would like to get onto CM9 in the fastest (and safest) way possible, but I'm not really sure how I would accomplish this.
Is it rather better (or even possible) to just go from 2.3.4 directly to CM9? Could I first root it using insecure kernel or CF-Root and then use CWM Recovery to flash CM9? And would this process actually flash all the necessary things, like the correct firmware, kernel and bootloader?
Or should I use Odin to flash it to stock ICS first and then just follow the official full update guide from the Cyanogenmod Wiki (because it is written with the requirement of stock ICS running on the phone) ?
Please help me out with this, I'm thankfull for every answer that I get
Follow the noob-proof instructions on the first post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20841817 , and you can jump to cm9 from your current firmware, no need to go to stock ics first.

Just another question, as far as I understood it I don't need to root before applying the Resurrection Edition of CM9, right?

No. It already includes CWM recovery. After you flash it, boot to CWM and flash the last cm9 update + gapps, wipe data/cache and reboot.
Make sure you put the .zip files on your sdcard first
Great thanks!
This seems to be easy as it can get
Oh and just one more thing, should I do a backup of some sorts? Just a little bit unsure, because then I would have to root first, do a backup and then would be able to the whole CM9 thing (I don't know if the rooted kernel could somehow interfere with the Resurrection Edition later on)

Yeay, just flashed my phone and everything worked out smoothly and perfect, didn't have any problems at all
(I also didn't do a factory reset, is it necessary to that? Because right now there isn't any data left from before and I'm also not experiencing any problems whatsoever, so not really sure if I should do it and what it would do)
Thanks to everyone who posted here and helped me to finally flash my phone :good:

I'm not sure, but i think the NOOB proof method you used already wiped your data in the flashing process. So there is no need for you to do it again

You are right, go for SiyahKernel (latest) (safe -> no mmc) Flash it with Odin.
That will give you a safe kernel with Root then you can follow instruction in CM website (CM10 zip + gapps) to get a working CM10.
Search XDA for more help. There are lots of articles on this!
Same prob here..

[Q] Install CM10 with a 4.0.4 LQ6 stock ROM

Hey XDA !
I've just installed the 4.0.4 ROM from Free (French operator), and I'd like to root it. I tried to with the non-PC solution, but it failed (no service). I learned that I had luck that my phone didn't brick. So, I'd like to know how to root it, and install CM10 on it (I tried to install CM10 too, but I had a keyboard issue on every ROM, and I don't think it came from the ROM itself).
So, how do I do it ?
Thanks
iSteelZ
flash siyah 4.1.5 kernal to give you dual boot cqapability then follow instructions in the cm 10.
there are numerious threads on dual booting in this forum.
Do I have to keep dual boot ? Can't I just have CM10 ?

Yes.
Just flash the kernel then factory wipe and install your rom via recovery.
This is same process as any other flash, these "how do I flash" threads are silly and have no purpose as they already exist in abundance if you would look and read stickies/guides etc.
I know it must be very boring to always see posts like mine, but I already bricked my phone, I don't know how, and I don't find any topic on how to install it, only on Galaxy Note.
And my version is the LQ2, not the LQ6 (this is my modem).

Not only boring, but it's against the rules, because if you search a bit better there actually are guides for rooting, also via google if you can't find them on xda.

How do i get back to original rom

hi guys,
i have a samsung galaxy s2 (GT-i9100 - NFC), which i got from orange end of 2011. I the in jan 2012 got help from this forum to root my phone and change the rom from the original to:-
Rom & Build No: VillianROM 3.0
And' ver: 2.3.5
Baseband: i9100XXki1
Kernel: 2.6.35.11-ninphetamine-2.0.5+ninpo @ titan #20
Although the phone works okay, i'm beginning to notice a lot of slowdowns and regular reboots, so i want to go back to whatever latest google android OS the S2 can handle (rooted). I've forgotten what to do and would be most grateful if someone could please help me with the following:-
1. Whats the best software/method to backup everything?
2. What is the latest rom (original, but should not have a provider's bloatware) i can use on the S2?
3. Once backed up, how do i change from VillianRom to the latest/best OS currently available?
4. How can i root the original rom?
Thanks once again
Check

I think it ll help you and save you time

For official stock rom, check
www.sammobile.com
And search latest stock rom for your region.
If you like custom rom, then there are so many roms on xda. I like omega and alliance roms. Choice varies from person to person

1. Depends. You can do a backup in CWM to image your device or you can use Titanium Backup Pro to just backup your apps/appdata and restore to new rom.
2. http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ < Check your device/model here.
3. Well just so you're clear, There is no "best" its subjective. Also "latest" depends on what type of rom you want to flash like Sammy/AOSP/AOKP/CM/MIUI etc. To flash latest samsung do it via ODIN, to flash any other do it via CWM. All info you need is already on forum.
4. By flashing custom kernel via ODIN.
All your questions have already been answered countless times.
Thanks very much guys. I simply want a fast lean rom as some seem to be slow running.
Doesn't get better than this.
sendign the phone for warranty?
you will need to flash back the original rom and unroot your phone.
if they found your phone is rooted the warranty void, experience it before so be aware of this.
Let me thank you guys for advicing me. I am most grateful. I read your posts a bit late and in the meantime, I think i have bricked my phone as i've flashed Samsung's original FW (I9100PBVLP8_I9100PORALP8_ORA) from sammobile.com. I used Odin v3 and successfully flashed the phone, but it's simply stuck on the boot logo. I have even done the following:-
I've managed to wipe the cache partition, but the recovery menu has No advanced options. It says:-
ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY <3a>
reboot system now
apply update from ext' storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
test redband fota[FS]
But i still cannot get it to boot. I have also tried to use an old nandroid.md5 backup i made, but odin reports the file as invalid.
I'm desperate guys, please could someone help me.
Download Mode and re flash.
Are you sure you are flashing the right ROM right? Check under the battery to see the Device Model.
If it's i9100, then make sure you are downloading a i9100 ROM.
Thanks very much for your advice gastonw - i have managed to fix the problem now by going into system recovery and doing a factory reset, so thank you.
Although everything seems to be working fine, i would have preferred a more newer 4.2 jelly bean rather than 4.0.3. Oh well beggars can't be choosers and all that, lol! I guess i'll have to re-root it again.

Hi You could try this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 its quite safe so ether should work or wont, if don't no harm done as it doesn't need a insecure kernel.
I'm quite new myself @ this so plz use caution when trying it out.

Good to know man, enjoy it
About root, I've seen a couple of methods laying around the threads, I'm sure they're safe.
I still think that ExynosAbuse app is the fastest way to Root now (one-click).
Here's a vid. I never tried it tho.
Thanks very much for the links AnubuRe and Gastonw.
Gastonw mate, i have been playing with the rom you posted a link to. Don't get me wrong, it's great and very fast, but the downside is that it doesn't have a huge number of options to tweak etc. Now someone mentioned a rom called Neatrom, but i'm wondering what you can recommend? I don't want a bloated rom...i want a fast rom, but with some options to allow me more greater control over the phone.
Also, i know this is a bit off-topic, but can you recommend me a widget app, where i can quickly dial phone numbers i.e. by touching a person's photo?
