Total commander - HTC Amaze 4G

If mods feel this belongs in themes and apps feel free to move, its not my app i just want to share.
Guys, since i consider this my home forum i wanted to share this with you.
Some of you may know about already and or remember
Total Commander from windows market.
Back when i got the hd2 this was just the best app.
Imo, its THE BEST file management system period.
This puts root explorer to shame.
Same functions beyter layout and more
Only problem it was only in windows market. Well i thought i would share with you guys they just released the app for android.
Try it out, you will love it!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghisler.android.TotalCommander
The layout is just so intelligent, i am so stoked they finally released for android!
Try it out !!

It's an app not a statement. of course It's the wrong section. Why do you think there is a section dedicated to posting apps and themes...sad part is you already knew that and broke the rules anyway

Disable advertisements ?

Has anyone figured out a way to disable the advertisements that show on the bottom in most every app ?
So many are complaining about lag and I (for one) think it has to do with these stupid google advertisements.
Advanced task killer seems to stop them for a few minutes.....but I can't seem to grasp what is feeding them ?!?
Thats how some people make money... But if you must, there is an app called adfree android.... Must have root...

Please do not disable ads as a developer that keeps most of his apps free I really entirely on ads for any thing back.

Usually you can pick up the paid version of the app, which doesn't have ads.

Just install adfree and be done.

As a consumer, please don't play this bs pity game about your decision to make your app less useful by covering a portion of the screen with ads to make money off us.

wrong section of the forums, this isn't "development"
but yes, AdFree is the thing that you're looking for.. most apps have a DONATE version which will remove the ad
Exactly, I just wanted to end the thread
You can afford a $500 phone, why not pay $ for an app you obviously like and find useful? Its especially insulting to ask for an easy way to screw the developers in a development forum... Try asking in general when you have questions.

Wrong thread.
Here is the classic argument, I believe consumers should have the right to privacy and there are apps out there with risky permissions and adwares that can read your contacts and sms while it is a simply an 'offline' game. I do buy many apps and donate sometimes. I use a phone because it's my personal devices, I customize it how I want. To the dev who blame AdFree for 'losing' money, too bad. Create a good program, charge for it and remove your adwares for the paid version. Or a non euphemistic way of putting it: maybe if you made a non-s***** app without those adwares and not running in the background slowing down my phone maybe I would consider paying or donating, its free market capitalism, not welfare.
Also there are even purchased apps that come with adwares and sometime there is no paid option. I do understand Google list the permission before you download the app and since it's free its my choice if I want to download it or not, fine, but it is not always transparent for the consumer, for example apps do not list the type of adwares installed. Until the Congress say it's illegal to use ads blocking I will continue to use it.

ads is everywhere, I got a headache when watching this ads.
Make sure to download the newest version if it via either Google play store or their website. They recently moved locations.
As for aware there exists an app that customizes that permissions an app installed on Android may have. You can use that to create a custom install for, say Angry birds, where it no longer allows it access to location or to the Internet which would defeat aware that tracts you or downloads new "harmful" features.
I cannot remember the name of the app offhand. If someone could help I would appreciate it.

Found Tapatalk and other premium apps for free through GetJar...Legally

I found this app on another forum. It's nice because they post a handful of premium apps you can legally get for free.
GetJar
I came across it in my search to find a way to browse Rootzwiki w/o going through my browser. Rootzwiki now wants you to pay for their app and I don't want to spend even just a few dollars for the one thread I'm temporarily watching. Anyways, someone posted that you can get Tapatalk for free through GetJar. Many of you are already using Tapatalk but for those that don't know it allows you to browse and favorite hundreds of various forums. I never had the need for TappaTalk before and would have gotten it, but it's nice now that I could find it for free.
So through your phone's browser, you need to go to the http://www.getjar.com. Download their .apk and install.
Anyways, Beautiful Widgets is also on there for free and you can browse some of the other premium apps they'll find and post.
Nice find. Will head over there and check it out.

I snagged a few of the Gold apps a week or so back, including Tapatalk, and haven't had any issues with any of them. About once a month, I tend to install their market, check to see if they've added any good ones, then uninstall the market again. Unlike Amazon, you don't have to have it installed to have the apps.
Very nice find I payed for a few of these paid apps lol thanks.

Yes you can but isn't 4 shared cracked apps? I had some at first when I did not know better. Then deleted via root explorer and bought it through the market.
This getjar seems more legit and legal I hope.
Where did you find the apk file? Thanks.

Not if you are downloading free ones. Nothing to crack. You can find old versions of apps if you don't like the update in market. Sometimes updated get rid of exploits

Does this app register the downloads with the Android Market? Or is this app similar to the Amazon App that gives away apps for free each day but in order to re-download them you have to have their app installed.

They don't. GetJar has their own market, so any updating would need to be done through it.

For the record, I was referring to GetJar, which is legal. I don't condone the use of illegal apps, via 4shared/wherever.
It wasn't aimed at you or anyone really, I just kept seeing it mentioned. No worries.

With the getjar, I heard people started having ads popping up when it was installed. Is this true? Is that why people install it to get the app then uninstall it?
BTW, even though they are free (I see things like Fruit Ninja FREE, etc), are these still add-supported apps? Or, is the free Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds add-free?
Thanks!
Maybe that's how they support putting paid apps for free on their website. The adds pay for the apps.

I will say that I've had ONE ad randomly appear in my notification bar (saying I'd won an iPhone/iPad/etc), but a friend (on a different network, on a different, non-rooted/modified phone) that I know for a fact has no apps from Get Jar installed got the same thing an hour or two before me (he even called to ask me about it, since I'm his "android guy" lol). Still not sure what caused that.
(Sorry about all the stuff in parenthesis)

I just use the web based app site. Doing this allows me to "push" the apps to my phone. Started because its easier to copy and paste in the search when someone mentions an awesome app on here and also because it's a little more covert to do it this way at work without always being seen with my phone in my hand. I tend to find apps alot faster this way as I've run into what your speaking of with other apps and it tells me which of my devices a particular app is compatable with (2 nook colors, Revue box, off brand tab, and of course my note).

Aroma app package

Hey everyone, I have been creating a list of apks for a personal aroma app installer for myself. I'm sure most of you know about this but I haven't seen it around here. Since I have a decent list of apps already, I'm offering to share it if enough people want it. I will take app requests as well to add to it. I just wanted to get an idea if people want it before I ask permission from the creators to use it. I would like to give a little something back to the community even though it's nothing difficult or spectacular.
Let me know if it's good or a waste before someone starts flaming me lol.

I've been thinking about this question, but I think I know the answer. If people submit apps, they will need to be free apps, because most paid apps don't have advanced enough license checks to prevent users from side loading them without them having purchased the license in the play store.
So am I correct to assume that the aroma installer you publish will be with free apps only?
Right off the top of my head, titanium backup and kernel tuner come to mind and nice freebies, android tuner free is another good one if you like it better.
Absolutely, only free apps. I know some obtain paid versions without paying but I will not be doing that since I do not want to cause problems for xda, myself, or others. I would be including apps such as internet browser, sms, root tools, social apps, tools, etc. Several of the more popular options for each

You can create an update.zip of TB from the settings and it places a flashable zip on your sd to flash in recovery. But it will definitely be in the package anyway. Was the first one I added.

It would be useful to be able to load a file manager from recovery... I use Solid Explorer (paid) but I don't know if it would work to sideload the trial and then restore the key with Titanium. Maybe you could include Solid Explorer, and ES Explorer as a nice free alternative?

Like I mentioned in the previous post, I won't include paid apps for obvious reasons but es file explorer and astro will be in there. I will add solid as well.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Just to be clear, I did mean that you could include the trial, and then users could restore or re-download the key (although I'm not entirely sure that that will work - I know that for Fancy Widgets, I have to download both the app and the key from the store unless I restore my previous Android ID, but it works fine to restore Apex and its key, and Titanium stores its license on the SD card, so I never have to install the key at all).
Although many paid apps are readily available for free, I don't see why anyone should avoid paying an extremely modest sum to help the developers maintain their devices and services and hence their apps.
Ya I know. I will add the trial version like you mentioned. And I agree. I used to get all the paid apps for free but I guess I grew up and realized I should help support them. They are so cheap to buy anyway.

You could create an empty folder for people to put their own paid apps in. Aroma does not care if the folder is empty. Just call it paid with /data/app in it.
You could also create another folder for people to drop their apps in it that you did not include.
Just don't pre select them in the menu

Nova launcher could be quite good to recreate the Ubuntu home screen. You probably may have to do some looking around for some suitable widgets though. If you do that reply some screenshots, because that would be pretty awesome if it is done. I recommend doing some research about launchers though.

currently there is no launcher close to the ubuntu-like experience, but you can consider customizing a nova launcher install

Thanks for your notification reminding me that my reply wasn't helpful.
Every OS has its own user interface. If a launcher looks greatly like another OS, then the former might be violating the latter's legal rights (at least I think so. Ignore those iOS-style launchers).
But why don't you visit http://mycolorscreen.com/ which I saw several days ago on xda portal posts? That site offers a lot of phone beautification tutorials and you may find a UI even better than Ubuntu Touch.
Hope you find my reply helpful this time.
