Hello all,
Let me start by thanking everyone at XDA for all the help i have received here. Although my low posts numbers, i have been constantly learning from reading everyone's comments over the past years, flashing several phones...all with success (perhaps some luck too!)
So currently on my i9300, i am running omega Rom v13, siyah kernel 1.5.2. In the top left corner of the notification bar there is this symbol that resembles an "I" and a circle around it with a slash through it, kind like a no smoking symbol. For the life of me i haven't been able to figure it out, or how to disable it. If someone might be able to give me a kick in the right direction....it would be greatly appreciated. I hope the pic is visible...

You have disabled the notification alert.
You can enable it by pulling down the notification tray and tap the icon for notification toggle
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the quick reply. When i drop the notification bar down, it stays up in the top corner. I still receive notification for all apps. I've tried tapping the symbol....nada. I'm trying to remember if it's been on the whole time since i flashed omega (fantastic!! Rom btw)
I can live with it being there, but it is a bit annoying and would like top stove the mystery. I'll keep playing around with notification settings for now....

Do u have the link for Siyah 1.5.2
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Ok.... am i crazy or could this actually make sense. The icon i think is the "no notification" symbol. But because i flashed the jelly bean leak a few days ago, which has a notification toggle in the drop down menu, then went to omega Rom (perhaps forgetting it was switched off)?? I have the 15 button toggle notification bar now..... but there is no "notification" toggle button to rectify the problem. Any ideas?? I haven't found anything in nova launcher setting, omega kitchen..... it would be a pain in the $$ to flash and restore everything just for that little icon. Otherwise running as smooth as butter.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'm sure you can find the option somewhere in the setting.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Problem solved.
I flashed the .zip file to go back to stock toggle buttons which has the notification toggle, turned notifications on, then back to the 15 button one for omega.
Thanks.... life can pleasantly continue with my sgs3.

Can anyone help me out, I don't know what this is or how to stop from getting them? Searched couldn't find anything. Thanks
Appears to be some sort of spam, but I don't know where it's coming from as it doesn't show anywhere but in notification and in the drop down. Keep getting them...
The blue star and strange message doesn't show in text or email

Well according to another post i read here recently about same issue..
its on 2.2.1 roms, and its a known bug i guess...
so idk how i can help fix that, sorry.
That's completely different. On the 2.2.1 roms if you use Visual Voicemail you will get a text message after you receive a voicemail. I'm not sure what your getting but maybe try reflashing the rom and see if that clears it up. How often are you getting them?
task manager showing an app running? Can you determine if its coming from a certain app? Can you click on the notification? Tried with a white notifcation pull down? installed any unusual app recently? This is not 2.2.1 related...
I'm not on a 2.2.1 rom. Its stock kb1 with themed framework. I'm thinking its an app as well but nothing running. Twice a day they come over. At first I thought it might be a virus or something but maybe ill just wipe and reflash

trying hooking it up to your pc and run ddms to see what's currently running and kill them one at at time until it goes away (using ddms).
What is ddms?

I'm no expert but it almost has to be a malicious app of some sort from the sounds of it. Audit the apps you have installed, check and make sure there aren't random wallpaper/games/battery boost apps that have permissions to send and receive texts.

Watchdog is an app that notifies you when something is running, taking a hunk of available received, may be an easy solution.

Pretty amazing little app for those that love the MIUI battery bar. It is free and seems to run well on my Vibrant. Root is not required.
Have fun.
http://t.co/Y9ZA9wgI
Edit 2... now that there is an official AOKP ROM, I see no use for this app... but for those not using it, for whatever reason, this is a solid choice. Esp if you choose to not root (why?)
Edit: my screen (very small bar at the top). The app would let you make it larger if desired.

I love this battery bar style, granted i like the center bar better, a lil harder to read how much battery i have left, but that keeps me from checking every few minutes good find
Just a heads up, Romans AOKP base roms have this built-in within the settings...Lets you customize thickness and colour.
Sent from samsung vibrant
pretty nice! i like the fact that it can be moved to the bottom of both the entire screen or the bottom of the status bar. even though the ROM im using is already capable of this, i'll prolly be using this app now. although the MIUI battery bar does have a cooler looking animation...
either way, thanks for posting!

Absolutely preferred!! I am using the AOKP kang from the Passion guys and for some reason their ROM does not have the MIUI battery bar. This app allowed me to use their rom AND have the MIUI battery bar.
This is a little off topic, but where did you get that wallpaper from?
Anyone else have the bar just stop working randomly? I've resorted to using the built in miui bar. I really like this app because i can put it at the bottom of my display. I've already excluded it from system panel, do i don't understand why it goes away

Really? Thought I went through each one. How did they have it named? Roman had it named clearly in Rom Control. Not sure why the guys changed it from AOKP.

Hi,
Since this morning, I've got a new indicator icon in my notification bar (at the upper left corner, the arrow with a minus sign in it, see this screenshot :https://www.dropbox.com/s/e68h3jsh9nc0m6v/2012-06-11 21.10.50.png).
Does someone know where it comes from ? I thought at "Ring scheduler", but this isn't the usual ring scheduler icon :-(
Thanks Seb
This is the icon for "notifications disabled", it simply hides the notifications. You can toggle this behavior in the shortcut list [next to energy saving, it's the letter "i" in a circle] when dragging down the notification bar.
Can't see the pic for sone reason but sounds like notification. Flick down the status bar and turn notifications back on.

Search is the only solution. Generally scanning the threads on the GS3 forums doesn't work. Too many official indian/UK/Australian/new Zealand/canadian/Singapore etc threads all over the place.

A small padlock in the far right next to clock
Any ideas please?

Ah ok, I cannot remember turning that off. And I also cannot find (also not on Google) where to turn it on again. Where is that option at? Thanks for your fast answer.

This question gets asked at least 10 times a day. The U.S. versions don't have that option, I wish ours didn't.
On my previous phone I would get a brown Xda box appear in the notifications bar when someone would post on my thread etc however since getting my gs3 I haven't noticed that happen . Do I need to enable it etc or how do I get it.
thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
have you enabled notifications?
never thought to actually chek but then i didnt ever enable it on my last phone.
Having just checked i can see the 'receive notification' box is ticked however not seen it show in bar yet, ill give it an hour and see
still not getting any notifications, boxes are ticked and its marked to check every 30mins
any ideas?
im sure you havent ticked this..just asking.is silent mode ticked? if not all that i can think of is a reinstall..im using gt-i9300 and i get notifications from the posts that i have subscribed to..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Ok sky I have checked again and all the notifications settings seem to be right.
It's set to check ever 15mins, silent mode not ticked.
Is it because I am using stock jellybean Rom?
Also using Xda premium if that matters
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
it wont be a problem with the application..premium is always better..
it has to be the jellybean rom..it has quite a lot of bugs.
well ive now gone back to the stock rom (latest release) and still not getting them
just to be clear, i should be getting a notification in the notification bar when someone either messages me or posts on a thread i have created or have commented on right?
Is there something on the main site when i log in from my computer that i need to change? do i need to be logged out from my computer to get these?
what i mean is if i computer browser is set to log me in when i go onto the site (log me straight in / remember me) is this the problem?
I have them when either someone replies to a subscribed thread or when I receive pm. Are the threads in question subscribed threads?
