Need a straight answer :) help with update, please - HTC Rezound

Trying to update to the global RUU.
unlocked and rooted
running conrom v6
Android police says you have to be stock.
How do I get back to stock so that I can flash the PH file in the hboot? (bootloader)
I have done it before, but I am at a loss.....
If I relock
factory reset
flash PH in bootloader but which RUU? GB, OTA.12 or OTA.2? and its a flashable file, not something I run as admin?
then I am stock correct?
unlock
flash amon ra
restore nandroid? or flash new rom?
Sorry...I'm confused
After I get the global update, I want to get s off. I tried a few months ago and I could not get it to work

you need to OEM lock the device,
place ruu on root of sd card
flash
thats it.

I would also recommend using the 4.3.605.2 Global Mode RUU file, it is more stable and trouble free than the .12 OTA.

So to update firmware first fastboot oem lock and then flash the newest RUU then unlock again. Is this correct?
Exactly

Or you can flash a stock recovery without relocking/flashing RUU and take the update if you are on stock ROM.
Why does everyone think you have to rearm your bootloader for updates?
Remember we have an unlocked bootloader which is signed by HTC you don't need to relock for anything, the signatures contained in it are valid
The only thing you have to make sure to receive the ota is to be fully stock, doesn't matter if rooted or not, and that you have stock recovery and all the bloatware that came with the phone, otherwise the update will fail.
Note : if your rooted you will loose root after the update.

IF you are 1.5 S-OFF then its business as usual. Flash the ROM from custom recovery like traditionally you would and you should be good.
Most of us have Hboot 1.5 S-ON, this method involves flashing the Kernel first (however you want to flash: fastboot or Flash GUI) and then flashing the ROM via custom recovery.
im sorry i mistyped, im s-on, and i do know how to flash roms i was wondering the proper steps to update to the newest firmware. i have read many instructions about it but im a moron and got confused along the way
again thanks

Extract the recovery.img file from a RUU/ROM.zip file.
And then fastboot flash recovery recovery.img or rename it to PG86IMG.ZIP and run it like an ruu?
If that's the case, can you just run the last Sprint ruu then do update? Or will the ruu not overwrite recovery and kernel? Trying to figure this out to without messing up the phone. I am also running with 1.5 s-on.

How do I get back to stock gingerbread everything after unlock and using CleanROM DE?

Can anybody give me a step by step tutorial on how to get my phone back to stock so that I can receive the official ICS when it comes out in a few days? I am currently S-on unlocked and rooted using CleanROM DE 1.3 and amonRa 3.15
Thanks
Nick
I just did this yesterday.
Download the latest Gingerbread RUU exe file floating around these forums. Open type fastboot oem lock in command prompt. Then it will relock your phone. Run the exe file and leave it alone for about 10 minutes. Back to full stock.
Of course the bootloader will say relocked.
This is for s-on, correct?
Nick
Yeah but once you s-off you will never need to unlock so it will stay at locked
Yeah, I'm just waiting for an easier way to s-off than the current wire trick method. Still don't trust myself to do it properly.
I have tried this a few times and the RUU update always fails with this dialog.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Do I need to have the stock recovery installed to get it to work?
Did you relock the bootloader first? I think that needs needs to be done first.
Nick
Yes you need to relock your bootloader before running the RUU file. You can either use the .exe file (easier) or put the zip onto your SD card and run it through the bootloader.
Did you update your firmware to run cleanrom or are you using the old firmware patch?

I think I'm running the old firmware patch. How can I check to see which firmware I'm on?

[Q] Updating to latest firmware from s-off

If I did the wire trick to get s-off how will flashing the latest RUU affect me? Wanted to try the latest Ineffabilis rom, but they say you should flash the RUU first. Can someone give me a run down of how this should work? I am unlocked, s-off, ICS firmware, amon ra recovery.

S-off won't affect your flashing any RUU. Just download the RUU you want to run , put on the external SD card rename to PHIMG98.zip then reboot to bootloader. Press power to access fastboot menu , it will then find the RUU and read it then ask it you want to update. Select volume up to choose yes and let it do its thing. It should automatically run twice , because the first time it just installs the stock recovery, and 2 other parts. Second time it installs the rest including radio's and system image.
When finally done it should reboot and you will be on the stock RUU that you ran. After that , just reflash a custom recovery and either restore a backup rom or flash the rom of your choice.

great explanation of how the ruu process is done. One thing to add, back up internal sd before doing this because it will be wiped.
Just to double check, I don't need to lock the phone before flashing RUU?

[Q] [S-Off] Cannot restore to a RUU on a WIND Mobile Amaze

After hours of searching through the forums, I'm stuck. I'm trying to get my phone to S-Off, but the procedure requires me to have a stock RUU. However, I had already updated to ICS previously (I'm currently using the JB ROM, and I want S-Off for the resale value). I've unlocked, and relocked my bootloader while trying to flash the RUUs and nothing worked.
On the OEM Shipped roms thread, the three RUUs for Wind mobile are an OTA update (Unflashable with stock bootloader or 4ext), and two GB .exe flashers (Unable to flash as hboot is too new).
If I can somehow change my CID with S-On, I can flash to the t-mobile rom. Alternatively, if I can somehow downgrade my hboot I think I can flash the GB .exe roms. Does anyone know how to do this or is there another solution that I missed?
no you cannot super cid the phone while s-on, but here's a thread that might be able to help you flash back to stock

Want to restore the backup of stock rom of HTC amaze 4g
Dear All,
I have made a back up of my custom rom through 4ext recovery software and tried different customs rom but failed to update my amaze 4g. Now I want to bring back my mobile to its stock rom from the backup I created. I tried to do it through 4ext but it says that there is no file on the SD card where as the file is still lying there.
Any help in this regard is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Soff and super cid.. Flash tmobile
Then flash the factory rom you want.. Then work backwards to factory locked etc

How do I get back to latest Rezound OTA ROM?

I need to get back to the latest stock update for the rezound. I'm on the infection ROM right now and just need to get back to the latest rezound ota. Are there any ota ROMs w root out? I dont want to have to re root again but I wanna be back on the latest ota w/ just root. Also, will I need to lock my phone again to do this?
One last thing, how can I update to the latest firmware/ hboot/kernel/radio etc. Pretty much want to return to the latest ota leak for the rezound even if its not official and then I'd like to update my hboot, radio, kernel, etc to the latest out.
Sorry for any typos I'm extremely busy at work trying to sneak this in. Thx for the help guys.

Follow the instructions in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37448962&postcount=2
That will get you updated to the latest and back to stock.
Then you can unlock again, flash a recovery and reroot and remain on stock ROM with a custom recovery and rooted.

What hboot/radio level are you at now?
For a good Sense 3.6 rom, I'd suggest Ineffabilis Deus v1.2, gives you that stock feel with tweaks available.
You can run the global RUU from here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/ You will need to re-lock if you are s-on.
You can run NilsP Business Sense 3.6 if you want a mostly stock ROM without bloat. I'd suggest restoring a nandroid from the OTA if you have it (I don't keep many nandroids, but that ICS OTA is the one I kept).
Here is the stock ICS OTA: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...cream-sandwich-ruu-for-final-ota-3-14-605-12/ You will also have to be s-off or re-locked to flash this.
Sorry if I've repeated information posted by anybody previously. That was never my intent. I just hope this helps.

so before i do anything i just want to understand a few things. im currently on a jellybean rom, infection. to get back to the latest ota i just flash the latest ruu which is 4.03.605.2? will i have any issues being s-off or being on a jb rom? and the once i get back onto 4.03 will i need to unlock using the htc website and then root again? and then my last question is, once im back to the lastest stock rom how do i update my firmware/radio/hboot, etc.? I'm just confused on what steps to take and in what order?

If you are s-off your phone should say "locked" and you can just run the RUU. Running that updates all the firmware, radios etc... and so you'll be on the latest stock and locked at that point. Run it twice and let it do its thing until it reboots so it gets all the system files.
Since you are s-off I don't think you will need to unlock again, check what the phone says in hboot as far as *tampered* *unlocked* *s-off* etc... you should confirm that with someone who is s-off.
(if you still have the unlock token you can use it again if you ever need to. Keep it handy so you'll always have it when you need it. I keep mine in the folder I use on my pc for fastboot.)
After you unlock you flash a custm recovery and root from within the recovery if you want to flash another ROM. Or use one of the tools, I've never used any of them.
I think you're good with this RUU for jb. It's the latest and I don't think anyone has anything later than that. I don't use a jb ROM so you may want to confirm that with someone who does.

You're s-off. Going s-off relocks the phone because s-off is better than unlocked. You can just flash the RUU.
I recommend against unlocking once you're s-off, because if you try to relock it yourself outside of the s-off process, it will say "relocked" instead of "locked. You can either flash a recovery through a PH98IMG.zip, or you can flash a hex edited hboot to allow extended fastboot commands.

OK so I just ruu and it will bring me back to stock. I then flash amonra 3.16 using the IMG.zip to get recovery on my phone.
(how do I flash the zip since recovery will not be on my phone yet? Do I just use the rezounds recovery to flash it?)
Then once amonra is installed I now root by installing su and superuser from the options in recovery.
Is that it, now I'm on the latest rezound stock w root? Am i still soff too, I don't need to do the wire trick to get soff again?
Oh and flashing that ruu will update me to the latest hboot and radio, correct?

If you just want to stay stock and rooted then just run the RUU, flash recovery and root. You should still be s-off and ready to flash a custom ROM if you end up choosing to.

As long as you have a flashable zip of AR 3.15 you're good. All you have to do is rename it PH98IMG.zip (make sure you don't name it .zip.zip) and flash in your bootloader.
