Quick bootloader question - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi all,
I've got myself a carrier branded and locked SK17a (Mini Pro). I want to unlock the bootloader to install a couple of custom roms, but I was wondering if sim unlocking the phone would change the bootloader unlockability to yes.
Thanks in advance,
Dillon

No it'll not change the bootloader status...even after your bootloader is unlocked through test point,it'll never ever change...

I can still unlock the bootloader through other means, yeah?

Yes, you can unlock it via paid method

Not even by test point?
Then wouldn't it just be more logical to unlock via paid method since it also SIM unlocks? At least, that's what I've read.

Unlock bootloader via paid method - Means you need to pay to unlock your BOOTLOADER ONLY...
And to unlock bootloader that have NO allowed, you will need to do it by Test point (and it's a paid method)
If you want to Sim-unlock,get the code from your sim carrier (of course you need to pay) :fingers-crossed:

SIM Unlocked x10 - does update re-lock?

I have a Rogers branded x10 that I'm currently using with Fido. I'm interested in updating to the newest firmware, but I want to ensure that I don't lose my SIM unlock in the process.
Can someone please confirm?
No it won't.
I presume that you have unlocked it by code.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes it's by code, I sent my IMEI to this website and they provided me with a code.
once you are unlocked it wont relock, even if you root or flash different roms

hi, I recently take my x10 to a guy to unlock it, now it has stock firmware whit eclair, my doubt is because I don't know what method used this guy who unlocked the phone, so if it was a different from code method, can it be locked again?
sorry for my english

Hmmm......well I'm not too sure but I think you should ask him. But if you use flashtools to unlock it it should be fine according to me. But ask him or wait for someone who knows for sure.

there are two types of unlock.
1) sim unlocking to use different network carriers
2) bootloader unlocking - to use different custom kernel nd roms for unlocked bootloader
as for sim unlocking, once you do it, it will not relock whatever you do
if you are planning to unlock your bootloader be sure that you have SETOOL sim certificate or SEMC sim certificate as stated in this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19685019&postcount=7

It allows you to put custom roms and custom kernels. It also voids your warranty.
If you phone is sim/network locked (in service menu it'll say something like: "Bootloader unlock allowed: No"), then you cant unlock bootloader unless you pay someone to unlock it with network unlock codes. Afterwards you can unlock it via offical (SE) or test-point method.
yes. subforums you try to check on development. there are many tutorials to unlock and root

Yes it is worth unlocking the bootloader. With an unlocked bootloader you can do almost anything with your phone.

Well that depends, it might have been worth for you, but for someone who likes stock rom and has no need or will to change it with custom rom (except few tweeks that can be done with root), it's probably best to keep it locked. I look at it as a pretty subjective thing. If losing warranty is not an issue and you want to go that extra mile, sure, unlock it.

[Q] about unlocking bootloader !!

If you want to unlock bootloader, there are two ways of doing it.
One is the official way, the other is via "testpoint" method.
Take a look at my guide (signature). It's a good place to start.
I think unlock Sim Certificate is also a good point for unlock bootloader. (Anyone correct me if I'm wrong)
If u want to unlock ur bootloader, this is official Method,

what method did you use to desimlock you're phone?
I used WotonServer
It cost 9.99€ and it gives 1 credit to remove simlock and 2 credits for updating phone.
Repair shops use this software so if you pay them to unlock your sim you are just paying them more money to do something you can do at home on your PC for cheaper.
is real ics lite 4 working for locked bootloader ??

You can always use the paid method, even if it says "Bootloader allowed: no". Plus, since it unlocks your bootloader by testpoint, you don't lose the DRM and you can use PCC.
It'll cost you around $24 (there was an special $10 offer for all xperia devices, don't know if it's still available though)

You need to dial this *#*#7378423#*#* Then go to Service info>Configuration then read Bootloader unlock allowed, it will say yes or no, if yours says no you cant unlock your bootloader even if you have sim unlock.

I though you could unlock the bootloader if you didnt have a sim-locked phone. So what/who dictates whether or not a phone can be bootloader unlocked then?
Its unrelated to simlock, but your carrier is the one who made it un-unlockable. Its a shame unfortunately many of us are in your boat

[Q] Xperia p network unlock (sim unlock)

is anyone working on unlocking this device. my network won't let me unlock it and i don't want to use a website to unlock. i need to unlock it to use a different sim card and unlock bootloader for cm11 and other rom.
For the sim card I believe you need the assistance of a 'website' (although I dont know if they actually work)
Or your network provider.
Who are you with?
As for the bootloader, head over to this website to unlock your bootloader with sony.
Note that it will probably void your warranty.
... Ok scratch that I cant post links
google this:

the bootloader allowed is set to no, so i presume i have to unlock the phone before it will allow me to unlock bootloader. how come no one is working on to unlock this phone?
Unlockinh the bootloader is unrelated to network unlocking the phone, as far as I know. But unlocking the bootloader will allow you to network unlock your phone by flashing a custom ROM i think, so I guess they kind of are related. I think you need to talk to your network provider first. That'll help. Otherwise
Try rooting it and go from there. If you can

we've got good devs here, i hope they are willing to help us
If a problem doesn't affect a dev, it is not his problem, devs also have their private life /job. Thats why a gratifocation might help (as amply as our pockets can afford it)
