Ello,
You have the power saving mode enabled you might wanna disable it via notification drawer or settings (I felt a bit dizzy and light headed with that low brightness on stock browser). If the power saving mode is on it automatically decreases the brightness in a stock browser to save some juice on the s3.

aaah yes. Power Saver Mode I had off, but I turned it on, and than again off, and it's better.

Go into the power saving settings and switch off the background colour option. Then you can still have the other power saving modes on.

Whites not as vibrant as before

Hey all so recently my galaxy s2 whites don't have the vibe/brightness they had before. Using the internet or gmail for example is where i am noticing the problem. Things I did before I started noticing this issue was clear ram/do a backup using cwm and let my friend use the phone. Any ideas what might cause this? and yes i have brightness set to 100%
Which ROM are you using? If you are on a stock ROM go to Display settings and there will be a Background Effect option, changing this may help you. Might sound stupid but check your brightness while you are in the Display settings. Also, I'm not sure on this but I think there is a specific brightness setting in the browser options make sure you have a look around there too.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am on the stock rom with brightness maxed/background effect on standard browser brightness is also 100%.
The white text/app icons in the homescreen/application drawer have the bright whites i want but when i actually go into an app they aren't as bright as before.
Hmm update when I have the internet browser open and click the search bar to type in an address the screen gets really bright as it was before but when i close the search window that brings up the keypad it goes back to the previous dim white/colors. pressing the menu button in an internet browser also has the same effect
I think I fixed it there was an option in display called auto adjust screen power that was checked. Does clearing the ram reset all settings back to factory settings or something?

Screen brightness in stock video player

Hi guys, I got my sgs3 within the first 1/2 hour of its official launch and I had been playing around with for the past few hours.
Does anyone notice that the screen automatically dim when watching a video on the stock player? I have already eat the brightness setting to max under manual in the display settings. The stock player has no options or settings to disable auto brightness. Is there any way to work around this?

I don't think I have that. =[ I'm on stock 4.0.4 ICS Rom.

Same problem here. Tried that same setting too doesnt help..
The video player has a separate setting for brightness. Go to setting from within the video player to change it.
I did something silly on my SSGII - the controls for brightness in the settings menu were extremely sluggish, so I managed to disable auto-brightness and set it to 0 - this somehow now also disables all input buttons, so as soon as playback starts, the display goes black.
I can only get control back by pushing the powerbutton twice (to 'turn off display' and 'turn on display' again), slide the lockscreen out of the way and as quickly as possible push the back-button before the display goes black again..
This thread is the closest I've been able to locate with respect to the stock player in the stock ROM on a Samsung.
Would anyone know if there's a settings-file somewhere I can edit or delete to get my player back?

Browser Brightness Fail

Galaxy S3 browser brightness won't stay to what I specify. Every time I open the browser, I have to reset the brightness level back to default. (it always opens under level 3 battery saving mode) Does anyone have the same problem or a solution for me? Any input is appreciated.
I have the same issue and drives me nuts, when I installed diet ics rom however it worked as it should have, didn't dim just stayed 1 solid brightness.... still haven't figured it out on stock, video's do the same it will start bright then just dim again, then when video is done it will brighten back up lol.
hmm i set mine to custom and then default and seems to stay there after a few restarts.
Do you have the Power Saving mode turned on? If so that can dim the browser.

yes i do have the power save mode on, but i've tried it with that option off and i still get the same result.. it's just weird that the phone won't recognize the option and stick with it.
I have this issue too. But I have the power save feature turned off completely.
I will try to set it to custom and then default and see what happens.

Yea! that worked for me too. I turned everything on under power saving, backed all the way out, opened the browser, closed the browser, turned everything but CPU throutling off and then turned power saving off. Now when I open the browser it stays bright.
Did you change the brightness settings in the browser? Open the browser, hit the menu button, scroll down to Brightness and colors.

^This. You can set independent brightness settings for different apps. So if you raise global brightness, the brightness level in the browser app is still low. Video player also has its own brightness settings, I'm not sure what else.

S2 Stock Broswer brightness issues XWLP7

Hi guys,
I was looking for some help/advise on a way to fix my stock browser on my GT-i9100 running ICS XWLP7
When I go into the stock browser regardless of the setting my display is too in Setting/display/brightness it instantly gets a lot brighter.
So I change to low power saving mode through the settings of the browser and it dims the screen when using browser, great!
However after doing this when exiting from browser back to home screen it's affected my overall display settings not just browser display, weird!
Not only is my overall display now dim and auto brightness in settings/display/brightness is now off but my phone has also gone from a dynamic display to a standard display mode, even though it is checked as dynamic.
When I move between these 2 screen modes now there is no difference at all. Only a reboot fixes it.
Does anyone else have this issue?
Any help, advise, tweaks or mods to fix this would be most welcomed.
Many thanks in advance and also my apologies if this has already been discussed but I spent hours trauling XDA and couldnt find it anywhere.
Thanks guys!

The display brightness of the browser is independent of the display brightness of the rest of the phone.

So does this mean that my phone isn't working correctly?
I'm aware that the 2 settings should be completely independent of one another but it's definitely not in my case.
It's weird that it alters the display mode too so Standard and Dynamic are the same after changing browser brightness.
If I don't alter the browsers brightness my phone is fine.
Can some one else try on their phone? I have tried factory reset, wipe cache, flash new firmware etc and nothing seems to help!
Thank you for your help
Can no one help me?
Surely it's not just me that has this issue.............

Can somebody PLEASE help me with this issue, my friend is also experiencing the same problem so I know it's not just my phone.
We would love to know a way to fix it or if someone else is experiencing the same things.
I would be very very grateful for a little help.

[Q] Brightness changes in specific apps

For some reason I see the brightness changes automatically in certain apps.
The auto brightness is off and set to full.
The brightness dims in the following screens:
1. Open original browser it dims , if entering web address it is back to full. Chrome does not encounter same problem
2. Original samsung mail app (not GMAIL) dims. If writing a new mail (reply/forward) it goes back up.
The brightness in the browser settings is set to full (not auto).
I tried to find an answer on the web but could not find. It drives me crazy!!!
Must say that I have the phone for 3 months and it started only a few days ago.
the only thing I can remember is that I was on WIFI and it started to update apps but how can I know what was changed and [email protected]#$ed my brightness control?
I assume that you're using a stock (or stock-based) ROM. Try to enter settings and deactivate the power saving mode if it's enabled. Then reboot - just to be sure - and look if the issue is gone.
Can't think of anything else at the moment...
Hope it helps
In stock browser disable auto brightness setting.

I can't believe I missed it. I've tried brightness in stock browser, tried battery saving from brightness menu.
I just didn't notice the toggle of battery saving in the main menu.
Thanks...
Hah, nice to hear that youe problem has been solved
