Ok so I just got myself an SGS3 I9300 off e-bay, it hasn't arrived yet but I'm just curious to know will it be locked to the Orange Network? I had it shipped to my uncle in England who in turn checked it out and then sent it to me in Greece, he told me when booting it up it had an Orange boot up logo. He didn't have a micro-sim to test it. I'm also quite a bit of a noob when it comes to Android so I was just wondering if anyone could point me out to some ways of getting rid of the Orange boot logo plus if needed a way of unlocking the phone to any network?
tl;dr Got SGS3 hasn't arrived, might be locked to orange, want to know how to get rid of orange boot logo and how to unlock carrier lock on it if it has it.
Thanks for any help posted!

Yes it will be locked, unless the person previous who had the phone had it unlocked.
There are sim unlock tools on XDA which you can use

Could you or anyone else that reads this possibly link me to some tools to unlock the phone? I had a bit of a look and found some information about something called Voodoo unlock. Digging a bit deeper I found out that it's outdated though? Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!
Edit: Also to mention the previous owner had not even taken the phone out of the box so no he hasn't unlocked it.

Ok so the saga continues. I sent phone in for repair since it wasn't powering on and not able to connect to usb. They sent me back a brand new unit, but it was an unlocked x10a locked to Rogers and now I can't get an unlock code anywhere. I have tried 5 different online companies, I called Rogers and begged as Sony recommended I do and now my only hope is Sony calls me today and gives me a code I guess. It sucks that I sent in an unlocked x10 and got back a locked one. I have a feeling I am going to be screwed! Any ideas? Thanks

I think he means SIM locked to Rogers.
This is insane, SE should provide you with an unlocked phone,
exactly like the one you sent for repair, and if that's not possible,
an unlock code is the least they can do!
I hope it turns out well for you.
Just finished up another half hour long call with Sony begging for help, but they say there is nothing they can do. I am hitting a wall. Anyone here a Rogers Customer that could try to get an unlock code from them for me? I will gladly donate some cash via paypal for someones help.

Thanks for the info...I placed an order for the software and then got word from the site that the software is unavailable for at least 1-2 weeks lol. I can't catch a break! I will update again when something changes. Thanks for all your help guys.
Did you give Mobile in Canada a go? Also the handset was sent into Flextronics for repair so they just gave you a new unit it looks like.. where are you located?
You maybe out of luck as Rogers deems the warranty void if you unlock the phone, so tread lightly. PM if you have any q's
Actually that's not true. In fact Rogers' provides their own unlocking service. There are requirements, which I can't recall all of them, I believe if you have completed your contract or have purchased the phone outright they will do it. I'll see if i can find the phone number for that dept when i get to work
I have called Rogers and they are showing no compassion at all for my situation. I'm afraid I am going to have to sell the phone. It's really a shame, because I do love it. So on the Bay it goes to hopefully find a new home and add some funds for me to get something else. If anyone is interested in a Rogers locked x10 let me know.
I am currently bidding on one on ebay, and the seller got it from an upgrade from O2 so he doesnt know if its locked or not. Is there any possibility I get it and cannot use it with my network?
Hi,
The O2 phones are normally not locked. (And you could flash an unbranded firmware also)

first of all thank you for your reply guys. I actually bought it and the seller sent to me a message mentioning that it IS locked but I can unlock it using a website ( .network-unlock-codes.
So, i would like to ask you, if this guy is really knowing what he is saying or you know better and it IS NOT unlocked.

i don't think that 02's RAZR is locked. my phone is from O2, i inserted my vodafone card directly after getting it out of the box
so first of all:
don't go to the site
just test another card
if not working test another ROM
i wouldn't believe in that selling guy

You mean not to believe him on what he said about the phone being locked OR that is maybe a fraud? (his feedback on ebay is quite good though!).
Any way, I have not paid him yet cause I am waiting to link my new card to my paypal account. How easy is it to put another ROM on this? (never done it in the past)
I have an O2 RAZR and can confirm that it is not locked.
I am gonna raise the bid
3D version of temple run has finally been released and its called 'Fred Runner'
Apple Fanboys are drinking that Hateraid
well, bad news for me. It is asking me for SIM network unlock PIN what should I do now/?
So my question is..how can I bypass this? I am a complete noob. Do I need to flash another rom? What is the procedure? Thank you guys in advance!
Hi . I got my S3 and it has sim locked to 3 network . Is there any way that i could unlock it for free ??
+1 getting mine this weekend and it's been confirmed that it will be locked to 3 Ireland and im with Tesco Mobile, can someone please post unlocking codes or method as soon as it becomes available otherwise i wont be able to use my phone.
Perhaps the mods can make this a sticky as well no doubt there are many people looking to get it unlocked.
Galaxy S unlock from the Play store works on SGS1 & SGS2. Not sure if it works on the S3 though.
If you want to try it I suggest you root first then backup your efs folder in case you lose your imei. Worth a try I think.

If your phone is rooted PM me a link to your nv_data.bin and I will take a look, initial analysis of the GT-I9300 nv_data.bin indicates a possible simlock block sign, but I cannot be sure without more files as an example.
Thanks to Zanr Zij who supplied his nv_data.bin file to me first.
hope someone releases an app for unlocking soon
My first ever Samsung handset, I don't have a different operator SIM to check if my handset is simlocked, is there a code i can tap into SGS3 to find this out?

If you buy directly from a network, there's a chance the phone will be locked to them. Sim-free ones are obviously unlocked.

getting my s3 tomorrow too. its locked on 3 UK, any idea how to get it unlocked for free?
well got mine through yesterday, i used phones 4 u to upgrade and using the code in a previous post shows there is no locks what so ever on my handset
If Odia can't unlock it, no one can!
He did brilliant job with SGS2.
Fingers crossed!
I received my S3 on theTthree network earlier today.
It has a 3 boot up logo but is not sim locked at all.
I have tested with Orange and O2 sims and both work perfectly.

What country is that mate?
I've never been with 3 but some people are saying that their phones are always locked whereas others are saying they are not but it would be useful to have unlocking codes that work, im reluctant to purchase before then as i don't wanna have to spend €20/30 to unlock.

Hello Odia,
I sent you the files you asked. Please let me know if you need anything else. I would be really pleased to unlock my phone
Thanks guys.
Well its as I suspected from the file provided by Zanr Zij, there is a 256 bytes sign after the second simlock block, only I am not sure what its signing at the moment, so I need a before and after unlock by code nv_data.bin file or someone with a locked phone who will allow me to try somethings out over TeamViewer, I will take the required backups, but cannot guarantee the phone will not be corrupted.
Haven't yet purchased the phone yet so afraid cant be of any assistance but im keeping a close eye on this thread as soon as there is a successful unlocking code ill purchase.
I've done some googling around and cant seem to find an answer that makes sense, I just would like to know if im able to unlock a Sony Xperia P on the O2 network so that i can use it with other phone networks?
Bump, surely someone must have done this, or know the answer? please just say yes or no?

I have done this, you need to ring o2 and ask for the the unlock code, they should give you it for free.
Then when you put a different network sim in your phone, it'll ask you for the code to unlock the phone.
Remember the thanks button.
Cheers,
Lunar.

Hi
They could NOT unlock my XPERIA P. Here I post the answer from mrunlock
"Unlock Code Unavailable
Your order will be refunded in full under our satisfaction guarantee.
This could be because the phone manufacturer has not yet added it to their database, it is an unsupported model, or you accidentally entered the IMEI for a different phone.
If you would still like to unlock your handset then please try your local independent phone shop / market trader as they may be able to do this with hardware.
It is also worth testing your phone with different SIM cards to double check it is still locked as sometimes you may find it works when you do not expect it to."
Also they have not refund me yet
i have since got my phone unlocked, it wasnt easy to find somewhere to do it, this is a hard device to unlock it seems, your best bet is getting in touch with the company your phones locked to, I got mine unlocked by o2 themselves free of charge, but thats because my ebay seller was very helpful and filled out a short form for me after i requested.

What kind of information does O2 need to unlock the phone?
I got in touch with my ebay seller (the original owner) and she filled out a form for me, im not too sure what details she had to put forward but i dont think its anything you could obtain unless you were the original owner, i was told however of another way around this but its not free. You have to get an o2 payg sim, top it up with like 20 pounds, make a few phone calls from the phone so it registers with your imei number, then with at least 15 pounds left submit an unlock form for payg sim to o2

i thank you, i will also join you too hold the doors open for you! lol does that mean i am sol on the sim lock?
if you bought the phone from bell then it shouldnt be blacklisted. if its blacklisted like the unlocking company said, then wouldnt the smart thing to do is to go back to a bell store to confirm that?
and if the companies online cant unlock it for you just get it unlocked at a bell store, if i remember correctly its $50.
