Replace native camera for camera from other phone - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone! I tried to find any information about the question I want to ask here on forums, but can't find anything similar. So... I have the Star A3 Phone (chinese). A good phone, but poor camera. And I have access to Flying 5S phone (Chinese also) which has almost the same hardware besides camera which is really good. People made good firmware for 5S using firmware for Star A3. Actualy they took boot.img and cameraopen.apk from the stock firmware of 5s and put them to the srar A3 firmware, as I know. So, I installed camera module from 5s instead native modul in my star a3 but, of course, camera doesn't work now. I thinkt that I should change cameraopen.apk, libcamera_client.so, libcameracustom.so, libcameraservice.so to it may work but I'm not sure. Please tell me how to make 5s camera work on my Star a3. I have firmwares for them, so if it will be needed - I will put them.

I want to know if you can port drivers from one phone to another to fix a camera. The

I have a phone with the Sony IMX214 (a pretty good camera 13.13 mp at 30fps) but my phone did a terrible job incorporating this software. Here is a list of phones that use it.

can you get me a file to flash an updated camera driver to make my camera live up to its potential?
model number is UleFone Be Touch 2, it is running a custom ROM which is a slight modification to android 5.0, but it is still running 5.0
tip: i have heard that it has been done by porting the Elephone P7000 driver for the camera. But I just don't know where to find it.

Umidigi Z Pro - new extra discussion forum

Hello,
i wanted to ask if it is possible to have a own forum for Z Pro?
That we can discuss it in the right corner and do not spam the Z forum
I dont think that we will need a new for the Z Pro. It is the same phone but only with a second camera lense...
Bit i think roms and so on wont work on z PRO so new one would be good

how about twrp and root?i wanna buy a umi z pro but i am asking for twrp 1 month from users
Umidigi z pro gets shipped out at the moment. So many users will have it the next week. I think own forum would be great, because the camera hardware is to different and roms and so on wont work for both devices.
How can you be sure ROMs would not work on both , new camera app on new z ROM clearly sane as z pro only the camera driver needs to change and it would be quite easy to check which to install on boot ..so a universal ROM makes sense if we get any custom ROMs as the rest would be the same
Buenos, I finally have the phone in my hands, hope we have a forum of our phone

As far as I know the thing with a Custom ROM with Mediatek processor is not quite easy.
I have my Z Pro for about 2 months and am quite satisfied so far.
As with most devices of this manufacturer, not everything is as promised.
The camera app does not really work.
The images are blurred and not properly focused.
With other camera apps, the images get really good. That surprised me positively.
Hopefully, UMIDIGI can solve this problem with one of the next updates.
I have not installed the update on Android 7 yet, because in the UMIDIGI community is reported by too many problems and bugs.

You can use UMI z twrp. Its the same and root too
My Z Pro fell, then a string of problems followed, even though the screen remained intact. The phone (temperature sensor I suppose) always told me the battery was over temperature, even though it CLEARLY wasn't, and the phone would turn off shortly after. I tried fixing it but ended up making everything worse. Now it just shows the charger icon when plugged in, and quickly turns off shortly after.

Pixel 2/3 Camera Port 4 Umidigi One Pro

Hi, i'm all new to XDA and i hope, creating this thread was not the wrong way to do. If so, thanks for pointing me in the right direction then.
I actually only wanted to know if there is an existing port of the google pixel 2/3 camera app that actually works on an Umidigi One Pro and if not so, are there any devs interested in making one ?
The device itself is a really great phone, only the camera is below average and i was hoping to improve that by using the gCam, only i can't seem to find any recent version that works on the device and i almost tried them all by now.
Many many thanks for any hint or help provided.
I would be interested too....
I don't think that Umidigi One Pro will ever get the GCam because of Mediatek. Snapdragon devices manage in getting it thanks to the Hexagon DSP, which is inside Snapdragon processors. A good solution for the camera of your Umidigi One Pro could be the Lenovo Snap-It camera, I used it on my old Umidigi S2 and it increased a lot the quality of my photos. I leave you the link to download it (unfortunately the thread was abandoned so that app won't get updates but it will surely be better than your system camera app)

Can I get Lineage OS on a phone before I put my sim card in? + a couple other q's

Hello,
I'm a fairly novice phone user that is currently using the Samsung Galaxy J8 and I'm looking to upgrade, I love the Pixel software and camera but I prefer the design of other phones and their hardware.
I'm currently looking at the Redmi K20 (not pro) and Samsung Galaxy A70 as my main options with the Google Pixel 3 and 3a as my 'last resort' for lack of better words.
I was wondering if the process of downloading and installing Lineage OS differs between devices and, since it wipes data, if it is safer (or even possible, like I said, I'm not very knowledgeable about phones) to get Lineage OS on the phone before I put my sim card in.
I will also be putting on the Google Camera APK and I believe I've seen a video where the OnePlus 7 Pro was using a GCam not specifically made for it which led me to wonder how you are supposed to know which GCam is best for you, of course I will download the one specifically made for my phone but do I go through every other option until I find the best one too?
If I do put on Lineage OS which apps stay and which get removed/added? Will it affect the stock camera app?
Also, is it possible to get Google's 'Now Playing' feature on any Android phone?
Sorry if I have broken any rules or done something wrong, I'm new to this site but would like to be on here more often, thanks in advance.

Question Thoughts on Realme UI 3.0?

What are your thoughts on the device os? Do you think it is good overall and offers good performance and stability? Or would it be better to use a custom rom with it?
I am happy with the global rom, except for a few areas.
1. USB C to 3.5mm adapter is quiet, fixed with a command (need root)
2. Camera's autofocus is bad in some scenarios
The CN rom is filled with the worst kind of bloatware. Every app wants to track your usage, including the realme UI apps. If I remember it correctly, even calculator or some other most basic app requested permissions
Despite global Rom being cleaner, there were still a few bloatware apps that I had to remove like HeyTap Cloud or Quick Device Connect among others.
So to answer your question, stock Rom is good enough but needs a bit of tweaking.
I hope the eu rom is the same as the global rom, but to summarize, the stock rom is good if you can tweak it with root. Am I right?

Love it.
Iam ex-MIUI user, since 2017 (Redmi 4x, Redmi 5, Mi Mix 2, Mix 2s, Mi 8, Mi 9, Mi 10,...) , started with MIUI 7 or 8 global (i guess), later custom MIUIos roms (EU project, without bloatware, better optimization, different ram management, etc), and this is my first phone without MIUI. I was very worried, but for nothing.
I have EU non-root version, bloatware and google apps - done in 5 minutes without complications, OS is fast, pure, without bugs and any similar problems (team MIUI knows...), after month iam very satisfied.
Consider your use case and the budget. I just browse web and instant message 80% of the time.
Realme seems to be good with OTA updates although Global/EU versions get much slower rollout.
Hardware specs are great.
OS is good, and Global/EU ROM is the closest to stock Google experience.
The conclusion is that the hardware is not the limitation, so all the power is in the user hands.
If you want something that works just right out of the box and has greater community support with comparable specs, you'd probably have to look at Galaxy S22 at twice the price or others.
Other good contender is Realme GT Neo 3. Minor trade-offs here and there.
Or if you only care about camera, Realme 9 Pro+ could be a good option too.
All above have IMX766 camera sensor, same as GT 2 Pro.
If you are looking at GT 2 Pro, consider getting CN version and flashing Global.

Why should I get the cn version? If I recall I saw people getting issues when flashing it with global so I think that any version should be fine since with eu it's rootable through an exploit
CN came out much cheaper for me.
Flashing global works fine if the steps are followed carefully.

But if I got EU instead, it should be ok to leave it as is and use an exploit to root it no?

The exploit is only needed to unlock the bootloader. Once the bootloader is unlocked there's no difference between the various global models with regard to root.
