Use 3.5 mm output jack as an input jack - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Is there a way by which I can use my phone's 3.5 mm output jack as an input jack. I want to connect my mobile to other music device's audio out via a 3.5 mm stereo cable and play the audio via my phone's loudspeaker. Also, I want to record the input sound to a WAV/MP3 file on my mobile. I know this is a weird question but curious to know if anyone has done a research on this

Using Bluetooth speakerphone and 3.5mm jack simultaneously

OK so here's what I want to do.
I'm currently my Hero as a kar kit by plugging it in via my cars aux input. I also permanently use my phone to play my favorite tunes via the aux input. So when I get a call the music pauses and continues when I'm done talking.
I'm now interested in buying a bluetooth speakerphone as the hero does not have echo cancellation and audio calls echo's back horribly in my car.
Will I be able to pair the bluetooth speakerphone/headset and have music playing via the 3.5mm jack at the same time? Will calls be handled via the Bluetooth device or the audio jack?
Maybe you could ask a Mod to move this to General -> Q&As? It isn't Hero specific & you could get a bigger audience. You should mention what version of Android you'll be running though.

Ah ok, thanks for the tip.
I went ahead and bought the Bluetooth speaker without knowing the outcome. When the phone is plugged into the 3.5mm jack a headphone icon is displayed. When the bluetooth device is connected, a different bluetooth paired icon is displayed.
So what happens is exactly what I wanted - When listening to music via the 3.5mm the audio is played via the car stereo. When a call comes in the music gets paused and the audio get routed the bluetooth speaker.
Inexpensive and simple car-kit solution.
Glad you got a result - & that you posted on it
What kit did you buy to do this? I am looking to do the same!

Bluetooth stereo question

Back when i was on windows mobile there was a trick to enable equalizer, SRS...ect with bluetooth stereo headphones.
Is there a way to enable 5.1 and some of the other audio functions that only work with 3.5mm headphones plugged in?
Sorry if ibeen asked or posted already but All i could find was mod to fix sound quality

[Q] How can I record audio to my 3.5mm jack

I am trying to use my phone to record music from my electric keyboard. Currently I'm running a 1/4" cable from my piano to the 3.5mm headphone jack on my Galaxy S4. However I can't seem to get it to record properly. I think it has to do with changing the input source, because software like RecForge only allows you to select the front or back mic. There is no option to select the 3.5mm jack.
Are there any apps that allow you to send audio to your phone via the headphone jack?
Is the headphone jack capable of recording audio?
If possible, what is the quality of this recording?
Thanks for any assistance!

SGS3 i747 Audio Problem

I'm having an issue with my S3. I believe it's more software related.
Whenever I plug in a 3.5mm audio jack, all audio is cut from the device completely and the audio doesn't stream through the jack.
To regain audio I have to do a reboot.
Any idea how to fix this issue, and to get my headphones working properly?
Running cm13.0-20160413-UNOFFICIAL-d2att
((I've had this same issue with previous ROMs))
UPDATE: I found this app called "SoundAbout" which re routes audio on the android device and I was able to get sound from my headphone.
Why would I need an app thou.. When the device should be able to re route audio on its own.

VoIP calls over a2dp

I'm trying to use a2dp for my VoIP calls (eg. in Discord) so I don't lose audio quality.
I'm aware that a2dp doesn't support bidirectional audio and so I'm fine with using my phone's builtin mic and not having call controls, that means I just want my bluetooth headset to act as if it was connected with a 3.5 mm jack, no mic, just audio output.
Please avoid responses such as:
It's not possible, you need a telephony profile.

It's obviously false and as I said, I'm aware of the limitations of a2dp and only want to use it as an output and use the phone mic as the input instead just like with 3.5 mm jack headphones that don't have a mic.
As an example It's perfectly doable on Linux by just setting the profile in pavucontrol, there's no reason the same shouldn't be possible on android.
I'm open to any means, I'm rooted and a ROM installing maniac so it's not a problem if any modification is needed which is probably the case.
Have you ever found a solution to this? I have the same issue and am getting quite frustrated with it since it does not work even after messing with the `/vendor/etc/audio_policy_configuration.xml`. Any advice would be much appreciated.
