Cannonicals solution hasnt been released in any form yet, however we (is in LinuxonAndroid) are getting a Atrix shortly with HDMI out so we can work on a verion that works just the way cannonicals does

Hi there,
Has anyone figured out how to get an external USB webcam to work with the Motorola Atrix. Keyboard and mouse are possible via webtop and powered USB hub hack. How about webcam though. Assuming Atrix can go to USB host mode, external webcam should be possible. But has anyone tried?
Thanks!

As an added link, looks like webcam support for the nook has already occured, but wondering what the similarities may be.

From my understanding, we should just need the drivers. I have a cam at home I test, but I'm a complete noob with Linux, so I probably won't have any luck with installing drivers. (Though I'll certainly be looking through some of the webtop threads to see if I can figure it out. I'm sure we can find the drivers online...it's just a matter of getting them installed.)

As demonstrated by the Nook hack, Linux would support UVC compliant webcams. I beleive those drivers are running the builtin cameras as well.
Is this possible?
I think the title may be confusing but I want to be able to attach my Touchpad to my PC via USB and share the my USB keyboard/Mouse with my Touchpad. I thought it would be cool to have my Touchpad setup at work next to my monitors to do some personal browsing while connected to my phones wifi hotspot--but still using the keyboard and mouse combo that I use for my work computer.
I am looking for something close to Synergy for Android. Any suggestions would be a great help.
Looks like Android porting of same app was planned but nothing happened...http://sourceforge.net/projects/synergyandroid/
Did some digging and found this app iDisplay

Yeah I saw that as well with Synergy. Here is where they are tracking it. A little movement last month--but nothing special.
As for iDisplay, I am looking to just use my mouse and keyboard on the Touchpad over USB from my PC--not extend my PC screen to the Touchpad. Thanks for looking though.
I have found possibly a slight work around to get to the same place.
I'm making an app which can display any consoles with usb ports on the android device (when this one is plugged in). If you have an idea for API 10 (GingerBread)at least. it'll be helpful .
It'll be more cool if you have an idea for API 8 (Froyo). How To Stream a console display to the app? I'm on eclipse java.
THANXSS!!!!!
I must admit that i'm quite inexperienced with java and programming in general.. but i think that you have to deal with drivers that actually shouldn't exist. You have to build a new kernel for this specific app I think
Edit: i think that you can't do it because consoles don't have drivers.. and their operating system is closed source so you can't do anything so weird

ok thanks for answer
but have you an idea just for record the console video?
Maybe you can deal with the HDMI port if your phone have it but you have already to build your own driver. I'm so sorry about that but I'm not a dev and sincerely I haven't idea how the code could be

You could (re-)write a driver for a USB Video Grabber and load it as a kernel Module.
These devices have an RCA input for Composite Video and USB. (They cost ~10$)
But you'll need a very fast processor in your phone/tablet, also root acess and USB Host.
Theres a lot of apps out there that let you view your android's camera live (with delay) on your pc.
What im looking for is a way to have my computer recognize my tablet as USB webcam.
The closest thing i found is the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487915 but im hoping this can be simpler and more direct.
Your help is appreciated.
Hi guys, my 1st post here.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend an app / method for me to remote desktop to my step dads mk809III from a pc.
He lives 2 hour drive away , and i was looking to set some things up for him on his mini pc.
I have seen plenty of ways to remote control a pc from an android device, but nothing so far that works other way around.
Team viewer quick support sounded promising but does not support non samsung android so it seems(correct me if wrong)
Cheers RP
