[Q][ICS] HELP with Rooting Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P5113 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know I've asked twice but I was in the wrong forum and I need help. So I've been searching around everywhere for a fix to this, but the problem is that I'm trying to root my Gtab 10.1 and I cannot get past the flashing CWM Recovery. I did it through Odin it says passed and everything but when I try to boot into the recovery, instead appears the Stock Recovery. I've been searching around everywhere and someone told me to go and download the lastest CWM Recovery from Clockwork's website. I did however it is an .img file in which I have no clue how to make into a .tar file. (I know I'm a complete noob) but please help me I'm stuck with no where to go
I'm running Android 4.0.4 ICS ftw

[Q] Clockworkmod won't flash zip

I've been searching all over the forums for hours and I can't seem to get a viable solution to my problem. Here's what happened:
New Samsung Galaxy S2 AT&T
I used the cyanogenmod wiki site to flash clockworkMod recovery:
not realizing that there was a separate page specifically for the S2 for AT&T....so end result is ClockworkMod recovery 4.0.1.4 instead of 5.0.2.3 using Heimdall suite. I don't know if this makes a difference
So with reboot my back and search buttons wouldn't work so I did a factory reset, now I'm stuck in boot loop
Went into CWM recovery, did clean wipe, but it won't let me flash any zip files (gives "no file or directory" error and installation aborted)
I never flashed any ROM's, just the CWM recovery
I don't know what to do. Please help.
I apologize if this is answered elsewhere, but I made an honest effort to search for it.
just follow this thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309301 and flash 3 .tar files in odin...
Thanks for the reply zking. I actually saw that thread but wasn't sure if it was applicable. I'm a little confused. I've flashed CWM recovery before on other phones (G1 and G2) without any problems, but those required that I rooted them as well. The cyanogenmod site for the SII seemed (at least to me) to have indicated that root may not be necessary to flash a ROM. Is this true or am I just misinterpreting?
So as it stands, my phone is not rooted. Can this be reason I'm having a problem with CWM recovery? It's not giving me a mounting error, just says file doesn't exist, when I know it's there. Is it looking for .tar format?
and when you say flash 3 .tar files in odin....which files are you referring to (may be dumb question)
First flashed the required firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
than root accordingly as mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126522
after rooting as per the above method you ll have CWM recovery installed...and you can start using it accordingly.
Don't listen to zking. He's getting you to flash more wrong firmware to your phone. Go to the AT&T forum and download the correct cwm from there. The AT&T version of the phone doesn't work with I9100 firmware.

[Q] Galaxy tab 10.1 wont boot into recovery after installing clokworkmod 5.5.0.4

hey guys. just want to start by saying im a NOOB in the rooting/flashing world so i'll greatly appreciate your patients.
now, I had my glaxy tab 10.1 rooted and was running clockworkmod 4.4 and wanted to upgrade that to the new 5.5.0.4, I went to the following link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
and downloaded the zip file and installed it on to my tab (P7510UW) and now i cant get into recovery. Im not sure where I've gone wrong but if someone can help me get back into recovery that would be awesome. And also if someone can explain why this would happen and how i can prevent this in the future, would be great.
I am running the AOKP rom 4.0.4 if that helps.
again, any and all help is appreciated
thanks.
That recovery isn't for the 10.1 that's why it didn't work. Grab the correct recovery and you won't have a problem.

Thanks for the info. Any idea on how I can install the new recovery? Because when I try to boot into recovery my tablet just turns off. Is there a how to guide or something I should be following?
Thanks
Grab the correct recovery for your tab from the development section. Boot into download mode on the tab and Oden the modified recovery.
Are you even able to get the device to the download mode...???

issues with CWM

hey guys, searched the forum, found some stuff matching my post but figured i would put out an update. just rooted tonight, ive done these before and i used to be a member awhile ago but forgot what email used. anyway, galaxy s2 sch-r760. recovery problem. CWM doesnt seem to offer a proper recovery and im new to using odin so im not sure where to go from here. how can i go about making a backup if i cant get into recovery? i would like to do a new rom and back this thing up asap. need a new recovery or ideas for one. any help would be appreciated guys!
You need to expand on this. What did you do to root,do you have stock or cwm recovery?
Followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928566 to root. Its a generic CDMA. Root went fine. It tells me that it has root access. I am trying to flash CWM recovery and it won't boot into recovery from the CWM option. It shows the unpacking screen for a few seconds then reboots. As of now I am assuming its stock recovery because I can't get it to boot into recovery from CWM like I was saying
Tried doing a manual boot into recovery and it turned on, said galaxy s2, turned off then rebooted. Its acting like there is no recovery at all....
No help on this guys? Anybody mod generic s2 before?

[Q] Failed rooting of phone, No longer working

Hello,
I recently made some mistakes with my Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 while following this a tutorial on Galaxys2root.com (Can't link to the precise article because this is my first post) I flashed the CWM recovery tool linked by this website to my device through the latest version of Odin and afterwards my phone would not turn on. I was able to get into the Clockwork recovery mode however but couldnt install anything because I had forgotten to place any ROMS on my device beforehand. To try and resolve the problem I did a factory reset in the recovery mode but this did not effect anything. I am now unsure what to do next. I would still like to root my phone so that I cant get rid of all the bloatware put on it by Orange mobile as well as update my phone to Kitkat(Currently running Android 2.2) Can someone tell me what I have done wrong and what is the next step for me to take?
Thank you for any help that you can offer
the kernel you flashed it is the problem

is this site you are talking about:
http://galaxys2root.com/cwmtwrp-recovery
im guessing that is the problem(Installing CWM/TWRP recovery will most likely break the ROM you are running currently as it overwrites the ROM’s KERNEL).
If iam right, that means you have to flash another kernel,i suggest Siyah kernel 2.6.14 its for gingerbread version(it has CWM recovery and auto-root):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263838
after that you can flash the KK rom you want through CWM .
