I'm experiencing a bug in the messaging app. All my keyboards won't input anything at first.I have you back out or select something else then go back to text box.
Anyone else experiencing this?any solutions?

If you tap in the textbox the keyboard will pop up.
Not sure if that's sarcasm or not, but duh.
It's trying to "type in the box" is the problem. Keyboard is up, no text goes in. Buttons depress, trace line shows, but no text in text box.

I think you need to have word prediction enabled for trace to work. Give that a try.

A little ot, but is there a way to update swype? I was using it but it stopped tracing my finger so now I'm on HTC trace, which is basically just for text and email

Nope, not till root. There's a swype rep/employee on the IRC evo 3d channel and he's confirmed this already.

Hello everyone! I upgraded to ICS today, and noticed that the notification to chose a keyboard keeps popping up. It also says that Google Voice is chosen when I've disabled it. Can anyone help me with this? I really appreciate it!

After the ics update you will have to press the imput method to change the keyboards you want to use. That's normal ;-)

Thank you for replying! I chose the Android keyboard, and the prompt to choose a keyboard still pops up. I tried restarting and rebooting my phone and nothing is making this notification go away. As you can see in the pic I attached, the only option it will check off when I touch it is Google Voice. It's making me nuts.

We all have that same screen with google voice so don't drive yourself to nuts over that. Its the default keyboard that needs to be set which it looks like you did so I'm not sure why it keeps prompting you to choose.
Edit: I notice you have google voice unchecked. Recheck it, set default keyboard to whatever you want and report back

Okay, I did what you suggested and have included screen caps. For some reason the notification to choose the keyboard isn't going away. I can ignore it if it's not a fixable problem, I'm just a little OCD about my notifications being cleared.

It will always be up there with a keyboard open.
Cm9 has an option to turn off that notification, otherwise it'll be there.
If you wanna reflash...Just do exactly what you did in the first place...
I don't think he flashed a ROM before if he got the ota . There is a tutorial stickied in the general page as to going about flashing and rooting

go sms works perfectly as you described, and its my choice, but see what works best for you.

Honestly I looked into a few of those recommendations but I chose Tasker with the plug in Secure Settings.
Now I can choose to wake up my screen on any notification for a defined amount of time before it turns off automatically.
Tasker is a very powerful system app. So if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. It's a paid app ($6.95) but very worth it. If your skeptical go to the developer's website for a trial.

Stock does not show you the message contents on a pop up on the screen.

True, I've had multiple iPhones as well. I actually HATED that feature and I still don't like it on my note. It should come with a damn LED notification like 99% of every android phone.

i just got the evo v for virgin mobile and my question is, is it normal for the texting to be in blocks? on the left it shows all the texts from my recipient and on the right it shows all from me but it doesn't show them in the order the texts were sent and received. all of my texts are at the top of the page and all the received ones are at the bottom. is this normal and is there a way to change that?

Go into your sms app and go to settings/general and make sure the view is set to conversation.

What ROM are you on. You should be able to go to Sense Messaging App and go to settings/general and Turn on Conversation Mode. This is or a Sense ROM.
I'm running the stock Rom but if I can't change I will probably change it.

Been having some issues with my stock samsu g keyboard on latest shostock 2.01a. The thing moved to middle of screen ans can't reset. Any ideas?

Long press the setting button on the keyboard and there should be an option to "dock" it

One more question... I docked it and it works now but I lost the little bar for the predictive entries. Is it related to the docking issue something I need to fix?

It is because you docked it... on the web e.g XDA app it will work, but not for sms.
