Help Please. SDCard not mounting - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

The thread says it all. I have a rooted EVO LTE running the CM 10. Everything was working fine until I accessed the SD Card from within TWRP to copy a file. Now I get errors when I look at the command line within TWRP "failed to mount /sdcard {Invalid argument)". Can anybody help me? Thanks so much to all of this community.

The only way I was able to fix this was to mount the SDCard over USB in Recovery Mode and reformat it. I lost what was on there, but it's working now.

I formated my card through windows 7 and I still have the same problem. I never had this issue on any of my previous rooted phones I am really gettin pissed with the lte...

Are you guys also having trouble accessing the Camera? Mine doesn't seem to pick up my SD card and only allows me to use the Camera using external storage...

Well when I pull my camera up my phone days " no external storage available" then at the bottom if my screen another pop up says "insert an SD card before using the camera" I have my SD in....idk what to do. I searched the threads already but nothing besides some guy saying format my SD...I did that but now I have the same problem along with my pictures and music being erased.

Well you could have put the files on your comp first and then reformatted, but I am having the same problem. I guess we just gotta hang in there. It will be fixed soon I hope.

I'm having the same issue with the Aug. 31 CM10 nightly. I cannot access my SD card. If I look in system memory, it shows the card and the size, but I cannot access it, same as you guys. Trying with TWRP to wipe, it shows a bunch of e: failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument). Still no solutions?

I was able to mount the SDCard over USB in Recovery Mode and reformat it from my computer. Obviously I lost my data that was on the SDCard, but none of the apps I had running were affected. Once I did this and rebooted into CM10, everything was fine and I just made a fresh Titanium Backup of all of my apps. My previous TWRP Nandroids were on the SDCard, so they were lost, but I can always reinstall another ROM and restore my Titanium Backups and go from there. Hope that helps.

I had this same exact problem, but the external storage it is referring to is actually your internal sd card, and not the external.
What you need to do is go into TWRP and mount YOUR INTERNAL sd card (don't switch to external), and in windows 7 format it.

AWESOME! Thanks!

So I'm having a similar issue, except I didn't try to access the external sd card from TWRP. And yes I've verified its the actual physically removable card.
I can see it in the system storage menu. However when I try to access it in Estrongs, it's no longer mounted as ext_sd in the sdcard folder. I did some digging and found it's now mounted as external_sd in the root folder of the phone. Looking in the storage folder, it still shows up as sdcard1, and my internal storage is still sdcard0. This seems to have happened after I flashed one of the nightlies, like 9/1 or 9/2. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
I'd rather not revert to my last backup, which was a Sense rom. I think this is screwing with the media scanner, because none of my sounds for alarms calls or texts work anymore

this is a work around for the HTC method of listing the sd cards, in my opinion HTC really screwed the pooch with the way they labeled the file system. The way sense accesses the external sd is through a shortcut to the physical address of the external sd. It really screwed with apps like power amp which had no problem reading both cards but if for example you went to power amp and marked what folders had your music by selecting the folders through the ext_sd folder shortcut it would read and list your music twice. another user who flashed cm10 noticed this (not the ext_sd file problem but the way CM10 was confused by the structure) and quickly wrote (then generously shared) a script that would rewrite the address correctly. I guess that a similar script (or that very same one) was introduced to the installer for the nightly builds

Wow thanks for the clear explanation. I too thought the ext_sd method was screwy, with all of my custom notification sounds showing up twice. Any idea on how to fix my alarm and call sounds not working? Can't afford to miss a day of class lol

This isn't definite as I haven't had to but going to fix permissions might help if some programs aren't recognizing the file tree

Welp, it was worth a shot, but no go. Ima keep tinkering. Thanks anyway tho

Well here's what I did after I flashed the original rewrite script, I had to factory reset (changes survived)and then wipe system, then reflash the nightly build (fastboot kernel for boot 1.15+)
Edit: I still have the shortcut folder on my internal however its not linked anymore so nothing shows up, everything else works fine

Ok, tried a full reset, wiped data, system, caches. Ringtones are working again, as are text tones. Alarms, still silent as ever... I'm so confused right meow

Sorry to hear that man

[Q] Incorrect storage data.

Hey
my phone (running CM9) thinks that I have 0.90gb free out of 11.36 of total storage space.
I actually have about 7Gb. ( I can see it: apps+pictures+downloads+audio)
something is wrong...
anybody has any idea how to fix?
thanks!
READ THE FAQ's on the ROM's thread....
this is standard on CM9 and AOKP. go to storage under system settings, tap the menu button and change the storage configuration to "use internal storage".
I know I dont care for this either. It also causes issues will some apps that look for a standard file system, and are unaware of the /emmc folder. But I find both CM9 and AOKP ROM's far superior to others, so I just put up with it
Thanks dude but the thing is that it's already on "use internal storage" but yet the issue persists....
Plug phone into PC. Backup all data to PC. Format SD card. Put data back on. Profit. Well at least it seems to have helped some. I don't use external SD cards but I've read this fix has worked.

Hey dude.
I don't use the external sd card.
the problem is in my internal memory
K. Same solution, using internal storage. Take everything u want to keep (pics and vids) off then wipe that thing clean.

i have a similar question, my i777 send me the error: E: can't mount /emmc/ , and that happens when i try to enter to the internal sd, not load my OS, also not work the reinstall os, i also install the previews os version same issue, use cwm 5.0.2.3 and that is the only way i'm able to access the recovery-

[Q] SD Card Won't Mount

Hey so I've been trying to find a solution to this problem for a while now and I can't seem to find anything to fix it.
So I went to format my SD card through my phone (I am running Liquid's ICS rom atm). I went into settings > storage > erase sd card, and followed through on everything. After I accepted that my stuff would be lost I got a notification saying the SD Card is safe to remove, and in storage it gives me the option to Mount the SD Card.
However, when I press mount it acts like it is mounting for like half a second then quickly just says it is safe to remove and the mount button is clickable again. No matter how many times I click it, it will just do the same thing.
I tried booting into recovery and mounting it through there and formatting it and other nonsense and it just says error mounting sd card.
I have also taken out my battery and sd card and left it for like 10 minutes and tried again. Still nothing.
The only thing I haven't tried doing yet is putting it into a computer to manually format it that way, but I don't have a device to be able to do that at the moment so I am looking for a way to solve this without having to drive 23 miles to the nearest electronics store to fix this.
I don't think my SD card is corrupt, I mean it was working perfectly (it is a 32gb card from Verizon when I got the TB) and it just started doing this after I tried to format it through the ROM.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
HEY! So holy **** I had a little bit of a moment there. Anyway, I solved the problem on my own. So what I did was boot into recovery, and partition the SD Card under the Advance option. I just did the first setting for each so my operation was like this: Recovery > Advance > Partition SD Card > (Power button for whatever the first option was until it started partitioning).
After that I tried mounting the SD card and it didn't give me an error. So I went into the recovery settings to format the sd card (still in CWM recovery) and after it formatted I booted up and sure enough to worked!
So this thread can be deleted or locked or whatever. Other people may run into this problem and this worked for me so yea.
Thanks for the thread space lol
Have you tried 4ext Recovery?

Internal SD card partition lost, help!

SOLVED - did a factory reset from inside CM9 and checked the box to format the sd card (god knows why this worked but the one in recovery didn't..also, why the hell didn't i think of this sooner? could have saved myself a week of searching)
while i was tinkering around trying to fix "mediaserver" (was killing my battery) i started to format my internal sd card memory (after backing it up)...for whatever reason i choose to do this via windows with the quick format off (wanted to scan for bad sectors and crap) then i forgot it was still running and unplugged my phone
novice mistake, i know.
anyhow, i've got adb up and running again, but i haven't been able to find a guide to fix it, or the info to bring up the partition tables, most sites give me specific commands to deal with the external card, but not ones to figure out how CM9\sgs2 is partitioned
ideally i'd like to just restore the partition, I do have backups if that's not possible though.
Phone is up and running fine minus that partition (which of course many apps rely on to store data, most don't have options to redirect it to my sd card.
any info on how CM9\sgs2 is partitioned or how to use ADB to find out would be greatly appreciated
Boot into your recovery and format your SD from within the recovery. That should fix it.

already tried that, the partition fails to mount, when i put my external sd card in the "sd card" partition mounts, but emmc doesn't (the sd card partition now being my external instead of my internal memory)
anyone even have a idea where i can find info on partitioning the internal memory? i've been searching as much as i can but i mostly only get link2sd pages, nothing on how to actually partition the internal memory
::edit:: i've made some progress, i've managed to install and operate parted via adb, but the version i have doesn't seem to support fat 32, i deleted then remade the partition but the phone still won't recognize it. cwm recovery is telling me "failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk11 (invalid argument)" other pages seemed to imply that if i can get the partition to fat32 with a block size of 4096 it might work.
a factory reset from inside CM9 with the sd card format box checked did the trick, not sure why it took me a week of googling to figure that out :/ (wtb a facepalm emoticon)
"CM" you mean ?
CM = CyanogenMode?
CyanogenMod Kernel for Galaxy ?
"CyanogenMode" by installin from default ClockWorkMode? section of "Install ZIp from SD" ?
I need to re-partition Internal Memory too.
searched & found this your Topic.
would you please tell me what exactly has been done to fix re-partitioning internal memory?
maybe it can be so Important and Sticky.

Actually, I have had the same problem, and if your device is not recognizing/mounting your internal SDcard, Bad news! You`ve lost it...
See this post for more details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665123
Next time think on a HTC or (even) Nokia, when you are about to purchase a new gadget (samsung, never ever more...:crying.

it's been a while, but it wasn't lost, i just had to repartition it, i described how i did this a few posts up.
i'm quite happy with my samsung sgsII, i'm not familiar with some of the other devices but i haven't run into any issues i can blame samsung for.
CM9 is exactly what i said it was, cyanogenmod 9. it's a whole rom package, not just a kernal

[Q] Internal storage not recognized?

I recently flashed CarbonROM (JB-NIGHTLY-20130929-0257-i9100) and haven't been able to use the camera app, music apps, etc due to "No external storage available" errors. Right now my file structure has /storage/sdcard0, /storage/sdcard1, and /storage/usbdisk0. My external SD card (32GB) is being recognized as sdcard1, and works fine. However, my sdcard0 is completely empty, and in CWM I'm unable to mount sdcard0. If it helps, everything else, like /acct, /cache, /config, /data and others, are still there. Any idea what's going on? I'm still new to this, but haven't come across this problem before. Did I royally screw up?

It might be rom related, ask on the carbon thread. Try flashing stock and try the rom again.

Try flashing dorimanx 9.43v kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415759

Formatted /data, then formatted /sdcard0, then wiped, flashed new rom, and it's all peachy now. Guess I was too afraid to format anything that it was holding me back. Thanks xda.

[Q] Rezound Root using liquidsmooth rom not detecting sd-card

Hey everyone,
I just recently rooted my phone (today) using the method (liquidsmooth 2.37) on the unlockr that uses moborobo and windroid htc rezound toolkit. I am having issues now that the phone doesn't recognize the sd-card. I can mount and unmount it on the settings>storage, I believe I no longer have internal storage anymore. Under Storage I see Internal Storage 2.34GB, then Sd-card 14.82GB, and at the bottom internal storage appears again but no space size is below it. I backed up my stock rom before doing the root, but it was saved to the internal sd-card. And CWM doesn't mount the sd-card so I can even restore to the original. I have seen post about flashing the stock recovery using the all-in-one toolkit. I am not sure have exactly to do this or if that would help. Also for some reason I can no longer connect (debugging, not engaging even thought phone says it is on) to the toolkit ever since I completed the root. I have tried connecting through wifi with thoughts of using the adb commands, but I am not comfortable at all using that method.
Could anyone help fix this. If I can fix the sd mounting issue I would keep the liquidsmooth rom. Also if someone can help me understand how to go back to a stock rom I would gladly do it as well. I have seen several post about flashing RUU's but I am don't entirely understand that process as well.
Sorry if I come across as a complete idiot, I am just not that great with this stuff.
switch storage for sd card
Hey everyone I have been looking into more into my phone. Just elaborate from my first post I went from ICS to JB on the rezound. From several post I have seen is that the storage gets a little weird.
On my phone I can mount the sd card under settings>storage, but the phone doesn't recognize it as the sdcard, but rather as the external_sd (in root explorer). When I try to open sdcard in root explorer it tells me not mounted or can't mount. I believe my phone and all its apps for downloading or storage want to use the sdcard link, but my sd card is appearring as external_sd. How can I tell my phone to recognize my sd card as sdcard (in root explorer) or tell my phone to store in external_sd (where my sd card is appearing right now)?
Thanks for any help.
Hey everyone,
I fixed my issue. After reading several post the issue of losing internal storage is common when changing android versions. I read to flash firmware patch. I did this and I also Read that USB debugging is an issue when super user isn't correct. I downloaded supersu from play, even though liquidsmooth has it built in. I connected to my PC and was connecting. Then after my phone detected internal SD card and said needed to be formatted. I formatted it within the phone boom.! Done!

This is very odd... I have to question whether the initial flash worked properly if su wasn't working, LiquidSmooth is very stable and bug-free ROM. What HBoot, recovery, and radio versions do you have? What "patch" did you flash?

Thank you so much I too flashed the 2.37 Liquid Smooth rom and had the above issue, with nothing being mounted under sdcard, at least in root explorer. When attempting to install some of my larger apps from the play store they would tell me that "APPNAMEHERE" requires external storage for some functionality. Please retry after ensuring that external storage space is available. Again when attempting to enter the sdcard folder under root explorer it would notify me that "the sd card is not currently mounted". Under the mnt folder there was no sdcard just external_sd. While under STORAGE there was sdcard0 and sdcard1. With sdcard0 being completely empty, and sdcard1 just having the files I had put on the removable sd card.
I didn't do anything about firmware, but I did follow your suggestion about reinstalling supersu from the play store then connecting to the computer. Immediately after doing so the phone recognized the sdcard and offered to format it for me, and I can now sdcard is mounted properly again and the folder can be accessed under root explorer. One of the other symptoms of the above is that if I went to phone setting then storage I could see all of my storage both internal and on the external sd card but there was nothing below the external sd card space, where now it has total space for both types below the sd card storage. Again thanks so much I had been banging my head against this wall for days as this is the first time I flashed a rom to my rezound or any android for that matter.
I'm glad my experienced helped someone else, cause like you I had no idea what to do
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Mine is a little bit complicated..I'm running the latest liquid smooth rom, my internal storage is detected by file managers(root explorer, xplore file manager). But in the settings/apps/ the internal storage is not present. And liquid smooth seems to be the only rom with this bug.
