Bypassing activation on the Droid X2 - Motorola Droid X2

I've been using my unactivated Droid X2 just to try different ROMS on. After sbf'ing your asked to activate which obviously doesn't work if it's a unactivated phone. I remember seeing "how to bypass activation" questions at least twice on here so hopefully this helps someone.

Same steps work for Eclipse btw.

Nice find..thanks for sharing.

There is no sim in the X2
Idk, try it and tell us if it works!

I think he's trying to see if he can unlock the X2 to use under a different carrier. At first I thought he meant sim as in sim card, but I don't think that's what he wants.
He wants a way to unlock the phone and then activate it on a different provider. More than likely, he's from overseas.
What you probably really need to look into is the Droid X2 Milestone. I believe that was for overseas carriers (not for the US) if that's what you want.
Otherwise, I don't know of any way to unlock the phone to allow it to be activated on someone other than Verizon.
Oh okay, sorry thought he meant bl unlock! I don't think you can get the X2 on another carrier, I think VZW is the only CDMA carrier...

That's why I mentioned the Droid X2 Milestone. It's for people not on Verizon, but I believe it's not available to anyone in the continental US as far as I know. Supposedly, it's running Android 2.3.6 I believe.

*UPDATED* 6/26/2012 Motorola Razr/Maxx, Droid 4,HTC Rezound Will work on any GSM

***UPDATE 6/26/2012***
Ok, not all the info that I got before was 100% correct. It looks like RAZR / MAXX is unlocked only for Global(GSM) use which is outside of USA. The Tmobile and ATT sims are not fully working as of right now.
We have couple amazing Devs which are working to resolve this issue.
Please PM me if you want me to update the OP.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the Bionic forum people found a way to activate disabled feature of couple 4g verizon phones to be able to use it on GSM networks.
Can someone test it please?

Follow this steps to make it work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25967009&postcount=118
Amazing...no one here has any interest in this? maybe you should have posted in the development section. This is great news if it gets working on the razr.
I posted this earlier...as far as I know it's still a work in progress but very cool nonetheless.

Welp the Bionic can't do it for sure. Doesn't have a GSM radio... at all.

Running ICS leak fully rooted!
Actually the Bionic does have a GSM radio.
The Razr, 4, Bionic all have the same Qualcomm global radio and a separate LTE radio.
The only thing preventing the Razr, Droid 4 or Bionic from connecting to GSM is the firmware.
The Droid 4 is scheduled for GSM upgrade.

I stand corrected. Well played.

I was under the impression that we just needed the unlock code. Once we have it from say...att, then we put the sim in,enter the code and good to go...maybe its not that easy but on YouTube it looks pretty close lol.
As far as I know it's not that easy due to the fact that the GSM modem itself is disabled. Unless your talking about roaming onto the LTE network. Though ATT uses different frequencies.

I was really surprised that people did not accept this news well. I was extremely happy to hear that we can use our phones with GSM providers since I am planing to travel soon.

Actually if you have read the whole thread in the OP link. People are successfully using their phones in Brazil.

Yeah. No thought about lte if I had to use GSM. I feel dumb as that's the entire point of the maxx being called a global phone lol. There's a video and it is really easy to do.
i just did it and is working perfect

I think people will highly appreciate if you provide more detailed information, because there should be some differences in this hack between RAZR and Bionic.

Thank you I will follow it later on.
this could get interesting
Okay so, here's my predicament..I'm currently using an Atrix 2 with a regular sized SIM card and wanted to test this out on a busted VZW Razr I got from work (there's a huge crack in the screen and it was just collecting dust). If I went into an AT&T store and bought a micro-SIM, would it work?
The only reason I'm confused is because all I know that AT&T uses the micro-SIMs for is the iPad; I don't know if the structure of the SIM card changes to accomodate just data, or if voice will be able to be transmitted as well.

Droid RAZR on cellular one?

I have an extra RAZR I wanna give my brother, I wanna knew if I can put it on cell one since it using a Sim.

Vibrate on connect

I used to have my phone vibrating on the outgoing call connected, so I don't have to hold it to my ear all the time waiting for answer. There is no such option after ICS upgrade of my RAZR MAXX. I believe that's motorola or verizon fault, as on the Galaxy SIII ICS that option is in the call settings menu. As always verizon sucks tremendowsly in the phones department. Is there any easy way to fix that? Or perhaps you have a 3rd party dialer recommendation?
Tried exDialer vibrate plugin - no go.
Tried PhoneSetting - neither of 7 different methods it employs helped.
VERY frustrating. Google sucks.
I believe some of the cyanogen 9 builds for droid razr have this option built into the default dialer....you could give that a try.

Thanks. I have CM7 on my HTC HD2 and like it a lot. Perhaps it's time to do that with RAZR... Just not sure if it's possible with Verizon phone. Need to research first.
I have the verizon Razr, only issue i noticed was a weird rotation bug...i went back to blur based because the haptic feedback is too weak for my preferences on cyanogen 9.

Good to know. Can you recall which particular ROM did you use? (link?)

Wifi teether

I've been trying to set up my Razr as a mobile hot spot for my kids nook when we are on the road. Ive tried different tethering apps and none seem to work on my Razr. Let me refrase that, they work but no networks show up when I try to connect to them with any device. I used barnacle wifi tether with my droid x so thats what I was inclining to use. On my Razr the app starts, but it gives me errors. Can someone tell what I can try or another app I can use.
Ive attached a screenshot.
By the way im on verizon, stock ICS and rooted.
Have you tried FoxFi?
No I haven't, I'll give it a try though..

+1 for foxfi
Been using it since I've gotten the RAZR and never had a problem

Yeah use FoxFi...SOOO easy
The only thing I don't like about FoxFi is the inability to keep it from croaking when something is connected to it. I am walking around with my phone making frog sounds. LOL
I tried foxfi at home and it gave me an error, tried it on my way to work and it turned on but I had nothing in my car to test it with. I guess I was Wi-Fi connected at home and that's why it showed an error..

LOL. Wifi Teether
Just use the in phone wifi tether since your rooted. The method is posted on the first page. It's better then foxfi and any third party wifi tether

Thanks for the tips, I tried foxfi. I did like 3 speed test with my touchpad. Then tried YouTube..that never opened..save thing with the browser..I'll give the other method a try.
