Jelly Bean to Ice Cream Sandwich - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted SGS2 with Jelly bean on it (Jelley King v1.3 cm10) there are some apps such as Teamviewer7 quicksupport that should work but say they don't because of the os I am using.
I believe this is due to JB is there a way of making it believe i am using ICS for some apps and JB for others.
Many Thanks for all your help
Ian

shame you can tell it that its a different phone yet you can not change the OS ... never mind will have to wait for programmers to get there act together.
Thanks anyway

You can, by decompiling the .apk file and changing the 'if' statement that check for your OS in I don't know what smali file. If you've never dealt with android reversing, I say leave your app as it is and downgrade to ICS if you really need it.
However I think that if the programmers checked for the os and if it's not ICS then the app shouldn't load, there is a reason behind it. Reversing it and changing smali files could remove that check, but nobody can assure you that the app will run on ICS.

Need help with JB SMS app

Hi there.
I've been on Foxhound ICS ROM and love it, so I wanted to try 1.5 Jelly Bean.
But all my messages is now a complete disaster.
All the conversation threads is splittet into old fashion Nokia style, with hundres of sms from the same person.
Why is this?
I cant seem to figure out any settings that changes this.
I haven't tried any other Jelly Bean ROMs yet, so donno if this is a ROM issue, but its driving me insane.
When I go back to ICS its all OK again.
Please help

Omega ROm v19 Questions

Hello all.
Probably this is a stupid one. But lets just get the question on the road!
I am going to install Omega 19 Jelly Bean based.
JB is not yet released.
But so far Omega is best for me.
We all know that currently, JB has some bugs to be fixed.
So, does this rom (Omega 19 Jelly Bean) has some bugs too?
Please tell me. Thanks to helper

I encountered a problem with v19 (Touchwiz stopped working and started itself) but :indie: already posted a fix for it.
I am running it now and must say it is pretty smooth, no compass in google maps though.,
Just give it a try

You answered yourself .
JB has some bugs to be fixed. thats what Omega is a JB rom .
Read the last fifty or so posts in the thread to see what bugs .

Ok. I installed this ROM successfully.
So far no problems.
But one question,
If this ROM is based on elly Bean, then why doesn't it have JB looks and animations. They are same as ICS.
Why? Please tell.

It's a Samsung leak - not pure Jelly Bean.

Do you understand the difference between standard Android and Samsung version of Android .
Pure JB as per Nexus is not Samsung JB leak or official .

Hi guys
have been reading a lot on the development page for omega and have been flashing the different version of Omega rom for a while
. As you can see my post number does not allow me to post my questions in the development thread.
Usually i find my answers reading and searching through the posts and that has been fine till now, so i am posting here in hope of getting some answers if possible. ( i do not want to post rubbish just to qualify to post in the development section )
I am on Omega v23 ( full wipe install)
+ 15 toggle mod.
restored apps with TB
using Apex Launcher as default ( i am ok with the shadow issue face in JB Roms )
everything works fine and the ROM is fantastic, however i have 2 issues.
1st ) this is regarding lock screen shortcuts.
before i restore my apps with TB, i was able to delete and add shortcuts in the lock screen normally.
however after restoring my apps, when i try to delete any shortcuts from lock screen, i get a FC stating settings stop working.
2nd ) when in TW launcher, its similar to the above problem , by pinching in home screen , i can add additional pages to the screen. however when i try to delete a screen by dragging it towards the rubbish bin , it hangs and FC stating TW home has stopped.
seeing that i never encountered the issues before i restore my apps with TB. I am thinking it might be one of the apps that is causing this.
however before i go ahead and do trial and error.. would like to check if any one has experience this before.
appreciate any replies and thanks for helping.
ps, pardon me for the long winded post
Where you restoring the system data also??
If yes don't do it.
The first problem does not happen to me so it is not a bug in the ROM..it is due to something you have done..
2nd problem may be a ROM bug as i have read other people reporting it...
Anyways..just clear cache and dalvik in CWM and check if the problem persists..otherwise do a clean install and restore only apps and app data in TB..

I only restored app and app data, no system data were restored.
thanks for the suggestion, will try it, if it doesnt help then probably will wait for the official Omega JB ROM ( based on samsung official release) to try again . since it isnt a major issue any.
thanks again.

sorry I didn't know about that.
it's ICS 4.0.4, base: XWLPX and it's alliance V4 rom
Then I'd say no. There is JKay deluxe mod which I've read includes back to kill feature, but there is no version of the mod for XWLPX

So you are saying that Samsung XWLPX has the option to enable back to kill, but Simplistic V ROM doesn't? So ask the Simplistic V ROM developer to make it available, no?

LOL I confused Alliance with Simplistic (I thought they were the same). I don't use tht kind of ROMs so I don't know their names. Excuse me on that.
You should ask in the ROM thread. I don't see a way you can add the feature yourself... Good luck

I dont even know why they waste their time in this project.
they are so buggy plus the lack som samsung features AND official jelly bean is so close.

LOL you don't even know the purpose of developing and the work and innovation they do. They miss some Samsung propietary features, but they have lots of more (depending on the person) useful features AND it goes months ahead official updates (on i9100 the difference will be a few months, in some devices will be longer, and in some devices Cyanogen is the only update they will see).
Think before saying so many foolishness in so few words. I'm done here bye

I'm not talking about other devices -___-
the innovation things you talk about will make many think twice before using them and lose battery life, stability & many things I don't remember.
