Sorry if someone has answered this before, I have done my best to search for an answer.
I am looking for a android profile manager (ICS) that controls the LED on the phone, so that I can turn it off at night.
After reading advice on good profile managers I have downloaded Settings Profiles, Quick Profiles Pro, and loads of others; these have all been good at managing audio, but none seem to have LED control.
I am currently using Light Manager (which I found out about through XDA - cheers!), but it would be much easier to have one programme to control both, as this is something I change quite a few times a day.
Should anyone be thinking of developing an app to do this, I would be happy to test it in beta for and provide as much feedback as you would like.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I went out and bought one last night. Great looking phone, quite impressed.
On all my wm phones I have ran a profile management software that has a timed profile switcher. I tried PhoneAlarm SP which is great, but I realised there's no easy way to manually switch profiles whilst using the HTC home screen. I could use the inbuilt profiles, but that doesnt give me the automatic timed switch.
Anybody know any programs that will use the inbuilt profiles but add on the timed functionilty?
CTScheduler? I use their alarm master, and i love it (since two alarms just is never enough). CTScheduler does a lot more than just switching profiles, but maybe its still of use for you.

actually, if u dont want the bulk of the stuff the main prog can do, u could also just use the lite version (only profile switching and timed start of programs). this one is free...

Thanks for that. Will give that a try, does that give timed profiles? i.e. switch between profiles at certain times during the day?
WMS standard profiles have special "Automatic" profile, which switched between profiles based on your calendar appointments. I haven't used it though, so couldn't comment on how well it works.

I used this a lot on my old S710 and now on my S740 and this works really well as long as your calendar is a true reflection of what you are doing.
Where it really works well is where you go into a meeting, you don't need to worry about switching your phone to silent as it does it for you.
Didn't want to post this in the dev section but this app seems extremely useful and I was curious if there was any way of extracting it for use on other android devices?
That would be very darn useful for everyone.
I'm using tasker . . . you can do alot of creative stuff with it, but it is kinda complicated and costs ~$6

I have tasker as well but in general I dont find it super user friendly. From the looks of it Smart Action could replace tasker as well as juice defender which I also use.
I've already made one for home, work and when I go to bed. It seems pretty user friendly to me. Excellent app.
Heh, even if someone extracts it, it needs Blur libraries and frameworks, too.

I've seen harder things get ported on xda just needs willing developers
I haven't really had a look at this Smart Action App yet as I still haven't received my microsim. I was wondering how sophisticated it is?
Is it possible to have it read sms when connected to bluetooth, for example? I attempted this with Tasker on my Defy with no success - I don't think Tasker liked MIUI very much

Tasker does many things but in terms of doing things you need to know the proper terms for the various variables etc for what you want to do which isnt too simple
Here are some premade ones you can download or make but none for what you wanted
http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index
As an example of how complicated it can get with tasker is the following. How to make a battery full notification. As you can see the app lets you do allot but is not super user friendly. Smart Action may not be able to do all that tasker is able to but may be able to do most and may be more user friendly
click New and select Event
select event category Power and event Battery Full
click Done
click + in the bottom left to add an action
select category Alert and action Notify (Sound)
type Battery Full! in the Title field
click Done
To avoid getting a repeat notification within 30 minutes, we add a cooldown:
Click on the profile and select Profile Properties
Slide the Cooldown Time slider to the far right
Click Done
Alternative solution to avoid repeat notifications (added by b00ky)
Set a variable such as "%BFN" to 0 anytime you plug in your phone
Edit the "Notify Sound" task to only run "If %BFN < 0"
Add a new task "Tasker » Variable Set » %BFN to 1"
This has worked for me and makes sure you only get notified ONCE while it is plugged in as opposed to after 30 minutes of cooldown.
I'm new to this so I apologize if this is not a good way to do this, but it works for me.
An alternative to the alternative to avoid repeat notifications. If you tend to leave plugged in for long durations, 30 minute cool down may not do it for you. The below gives you a one time notification that your battery is full, and wont repeat until you unplug/replug back in. phonedude
Profile - Battery 100%
Event - Battery Full
Enter task -
1. Play your sound
2. Set Profile Status {Battery 100%} to Off
Exit task-
n.a.
Profile - Plugged In
State - Power (Source = Any)
Enter task -
1. Profile Status {Battery 100%} to On
Exit task-
1. Profile Status {Battery 100%} to Off
Thanks for that fidorulz! Much appreciated. I notice on that site that the guy tried to get the read SMS to work and failed, tried again and got it working but doesn't know how!
http://tasker.wikidot.com/readsmswhileincardock
I found a walk through on here that would not work either and I assumed it was because of MIUI, as Tasker didn't register any SMS being received. It seems that the %SMSRF and %SMSRB variables only get initialised when an SMS is received.
I will patiently wait for tmobile and the royal mail to get their fingers out and deliver my microsim and I will give it another go
I use "Setting Profiles" pretty simple and powerful, a lot easier to use than tasker (although not quite as powerful in the nitty-gritty) but definitely hits the 80/20 rule. It costs, but I believe there is a free version to try out the functionality and see how you like it.
Been stalking the forums, but mainly for the OG Droid as that was my primary phone until recently.
Recently got a RAZR MAXX and am just looking for a few functions be carried over from my Droid on CM7.
The one I need most is to change tracks in a media player with long presses on the volume buttons while the screen is turned off.
Is there any way I can get this to happen, preferably without rooting? This phone is pretty new and I wanna wait to root it for a little while if possible.
I would be more than willing to root for CM, but haven't heard anything on if it's coming to the RAZR at all.
Last time i used Winamp for android there was an option for doing this.
Ill look in to that. Is there any way to make it default for any media player though? I use pandora a lot and while riding bike, i cant pull it out to change the track, especially with my gloves on.
The developer must include the feature in the app, its an API if I remeber well.I don't use pandora so i can't help you there, sorry.
I've had a look through, and haven't found anything in either apps that would allow this. I use both Winamp and Pandora on a daily basis.
I searched for a solution before throwing up this thread, but only found solutions for other devices. I saw pretty much I need either a ROM that includes it as a feature, or an app that will change the system file, and I'm guessing it needs to be rooted to do so.
I suggest you the app ttpod with track change by shake option.

gosh yes! bump! i was just thinking the other day how much i missed my old WM6 phone with lots of hardware buttons on the front that i could map to do anything i wanted. i don't know if this trend to a screen only interface is so great after all. sure, it looks cool, but it's also less functional in some real world situations, especially driving!
Can someone tell me how to enable LED flashing for all notifications. Most apps have their own setting which enables it but Springpad does not. Is there a way to enable LED and vibrate for all notifications?
Do you have Tasker? If so, you can set a profile to trigger with a notification from a specific app (or any notification it appears). When that profile triggers, you can set a task that would cause the LED to flash and the phone to vibrate. I do not have something like this setup, but I just played a little with it and it appears that it can be done.
If you don't have it, it is worth the $6.50. I have it silence my phone when my calendar shows I am busy, lower my phone's volumes at night, show a menu of music apps and lower my phone's volumes when headphones are plugged in, etc.

I don't have Tasker. I've always been intrigued but a little intimidated since it seems like there's a learning curve. One of these days, I'll give it a shot.
You could use AutomateIt too. It's kind of like Tasker, but free and less complicated.

It was for me at first too, but just like on XDA, read, read, and read some more. The Tasker wiki has a lot of useful profiles that are helpful with the learning curve so that you can build your own eventually. You can download it from the dev's website with a free 7-day trial to see if you like it.

In Cyanogenmod we are blessed with the Profiles settings which makes it possible to setup different profiles with ring-tones and connectivity etc.
I know there is a whole bunch of apps in the Play Store that can do the same, but which one is best and is easy to setup?
The basic functionality i am looking for is;
Set sound (Ringtone level, notifications level)
Set sync (Turn off sync for all or individual apps)
Set Lockscreen (disable, insecure or secure)
Best Regards,

I think the best audio manager is Smart Volume Control+. That's just me though. I've used Tasker and Llama and hated both. Both of those just killed my phone. Have never had any issues with SVC+.
I have used EasyProfiles Pro for a few years and have been very happy with it, I have tried others as I run across them but always seam to come back to this one. Support for both rooted/not rooted devices and plenty of options for automated switching of profiles along with manual switching.

Thanks for the info here
I've tried Tasker but I find it overkill for my needs. But that's just me. I've tried EasyPro. I don't know what drove me to eventually try Profile Scheduler+. I've been using it on my Galaxy S2 for more than a year and now I'm still using on my Note2. I believe they all do what they say they do. It's just that I find Profile Scheduler+ enough for my needs.
