Bricked EVO - Need Advice!! - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I was trying to update firmware to 2.13 thru hboot. It flashed ok and asked to reboot. Rebooted and now nothing. Windows does pick up the
phone and tries to install QHSUSB_DLOAD driver. I have tried to run the EVO unbricker using Ubuntu 32 bit but it cannot find the device.
I was running Mean Rom, 1.12 Hboot, S-OFF, TWRP.

had the same thing happen to me when I took 1.22 ota from my phone and it was toast I had to return it to best buy and get it replaced I know this does not help you but if the unbricking tool does not see the phone there is not much else you can do I spent hours trying to get mine to work but had no success

Why are you all taking the OTA to begin with? Clearly you guys should have at least attempted to learn the basics behind root and flashing.

I did not take the OTA. I was flashing the firmware upgrade only thru bootloader

Damn that sucks! I'm almost sure you'll get a hboot 1.15 or above which means no s-off.. Make sure if and when you get the new to NOT let them activate it for you! You might get lucky with a hboot 1.12

Did you check the md5? Maybe you had a bad download.

Have you tried the unbricker

yes, I tried the unbricker. I cannot get it to connect to the device. It is possible that I am doing something wrong.

No. Even with the qhsusb drivers and qpst it can not be unbricked. I gave up tonight after two days of trying
Same scenario...was rolling back firmware to previous version

Plug your phone into a usb port and let it charge for 3~8 hours. Then hold down power button for 60 seconds.
On my evo the battery meter was constantly off by 5 or more %. It did exactly what you describe and was only doing it because it was out of juice.

I do make the assumption that when someone says the phone won't come back on,no lights,no qhsusb that there is no power to the device.
That assumption made, pretty simple to also assume they can not get into recovery or bootloader.
Twrp version does not matter. The phone just needs to charge.
Someone really needs to look more into this...I see 3~4 of these a day

Brick updating firmware

So this morning I decided to update my firmware from the PJ75IMG.zip. I booted back to and while I was in the bootload a factor reset was done by accident. Now my operating system is now erased. S-off'ed with lazy panda. Also, i have no backup because my Vista crashed a week ago. Sprint will replace my phone, but is there any possibility of unbricking now?

Bricked- A device state in which you can NOT get to bootloader, Recovery or standard installed OS.

If you are referencing my post, the op did not provide many details to determine if he is really "bricked" or not.
There have been quite a few cases of this.
You can try the lazypanda unbricker but it probably wont work
Yeah, recovery isn't the problem. Although it is showing relocked and I was going to reroot. just thought is was worth a shot posting.

so its there a way to reboot the phone after a bad flash, i plug the phone and my pc said that it needs to install the qcl... something drivers so that means the phone its on... how i can make it to get into recovery mod again... repeat black screen... i can not do anything else... by the way i tried to flash the new radio
Sorry to hear that. I believe you're gonna need a pc to try to do anything towards fixing it. Try an RUU. You can always get a replacement before they start giving out refurbs.

If you can access recovery you can flash a rom. Your other option would be to run the ruu. You will never get your data back though.

Need some help with new Rezound

I received a replacement Rezound today and have messed it up beyond my repair. When I powered the new phone on it was on the old GB software. I manually searched for an update which was finally found. I downloaded the update and went through the process of installing it. About half way through the update, a red triangle with an exclamation point appeard. I tried this process twice and then decided to run the RUU that I had installed on my sd card from my prior phone. The RUU was the most recent ICS.
At this point I was not S-off or rooted, but completly stock. The RUU did not fully run but it did update my HBOOT and Radio's. When I boot the phone, it is still on GB software. I have some how changed my bootloader to show Tampered as well.
I was able to flash a zip file of AmonRa 3.15 and was able to flash ViperRom 1.03. I thought this would correct the problems and allow me to S-Off but it did not.
I thought that if I could S-off I could maybe get this all straight. But I am not sure.
At this point, I have a phone that reboots after a few short minutes.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Alright, I'm DirtyRacun S-Off hboot 1.15 and I went to update my firmware because I want to run JellyMEAN ROM, I get the PJ75IMG - No kernel, hBoot or recovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045935&highlight=3+15+firmware Go into bootlader update and everything seems to be fine. I then grab the kernel from that same thread go back to bootloader (Yes after deleting the firmware PJIMG) everything looks to update fine it went to reboot and it never booted. I tried to get back to bootloader nothing. I plug it into my PC and the charging light doesn't even light up. The only thing the phone does it the bottom lights will flash and when I plug it into my PC it will make the USB connected sound. I'm really hoping someone can get be back up and running.
Quick update... I was able to get into hboot and now in recovery. I'm just kind of nervous about rebooting. Anyone have any recommendations?

[Q] Unrooted, unlocked S-on but can't get custom ROM

So, I have gone through the whole process of rooting my phone, unlocking it. I have TWRP on it, Titanium backup (thankfully), Goo Manager. It is S-on. I have 2.09 Hboot. My TWRP-jewel is 2.5.0.0. Ok, now onto my question, I am trying to get CM-10 to load but it doesn't go any further than the load screen. No matter what I try. I have even tried switching to JellyBAM but all to no avail. Can someone offer me tips as to what I may have done or be doing wrong? Thanks in advance
[Q] trying to put CM10 on my rooted phone
Forgive me if I put this in the wrong group, but I feel this is probably the right one for it. I have Hboot 2.09. I have TWRP. I have S-on. I want to put CM10 with Gapps onto my phone but every way I have tried, CM10 just sits there and loops around, the longest being an hour. I figured some time was possible, but come on. Over on Google+, people are telling me to flash this and flash that, fastboot this or that. I have no idea what they are trying to say to me. I am loving learning all of this but I need a little more explanation than just flash something. I realize that flash has something to do with commands. I am running windows 8 if that helps on my laptop. My TWRP version is 2.5.0.0. I don't know if my phone has gone through the latest update or not. Thanks for any help you can give me!
You have to install the kernel separately from the ROM since you're S-on. Click the link in my sig for more info.
You most likely have the newest touch panel driver, so you can only use ROM's based off the latest OTA, software version 3.16. Your touchscreen won't work otherwise. You can gain S-off and downgrade your touch panel driver, at which point you can run AOSP ROM's like CM.

First of all you might be on the newest touch panel driver, and that's the first thing that gets you in trouble because aosp roms don't work with that, as of now, it might work later... Who knows... Secondly you need to flash the boot.img separately thru fastboot because your are s-on and on 2.09... To make your life easier try to get s-off either thru facepalm or dirty racun... That way you can flash any rom and also downgrade your touch panel driver to get aosp working on your phone... If you flash viper rom it has a senseless option so you can use nova and get stability and some sort of aosp look... Good luck!

Yes, S-off is the way to go if you want to run CM. Otherwise, try meanbean or viper or sharkie or any other sense based Rom. They should work fine.

ADB commands must be issued when the phone is mounted as media share not as fastboot. Connect your phone as if you were transferring files between it and your pc.

I do have it connected to the computer like that. Do you mean I have to go into TWRP and mount it that way? I tried it that way too. I downloaded and whole new android SDK to see if that is the problem. If not, I am going to factory reset my phone and start over. I can't imagine why I was able to root the phone, get it unlocked, but now I can't do anything else with it. Not even get adb commands to recognize it.

This is for tabidee hey I was reading ur stuff on xda developers and I have a question. If u can help if not its cool. Ok so i got my sprint evo and I went to try to root it. I went thru a process that with the steps combined with htcdev site got me to say unlock my bootloader. I used hoot 2.09 and I was supposed to flash this pimg175 zip to i guess install a recovery. Well that won't work at all... I cant get my s on switched to s off and so i am stuck with according to the hoot screen a tampered, unlocked with s on, unrooted phone. I am so confused with all the steps and files I had to download, rename and save to various folders that I gave up. With my phone at its current state what do I do next? I deleted all the files from the day I unlocked it but if you can explain to me... And explain like if I was a five year old cuz I'm that dumbfounded on this subject... But if u can maybe walk me thru the rest of the process or walk me thru a undoing of what I done so far. I'm lisa. My email is [email protected]
Check out the link below. It's a GUI for rooting and has everything you need to get your phone rooted. You'll need to install the recovery first then superuser, which will give you root.

Thanks,

----------------------
EDIT: The official link has been taken down. If you would still like to download the RUU anyway, I have uploaded it here and here.
NOTE: For those having issues updating via the RUU (drivers, Windows 8.1, etc), see this post for an alternative install method.
NOTE 2: There is an updated RUU (4.13.651.4) which was released to some testers from HTC. The update fixes the data roaming issue. It hasn't been released officially, but there is a download link for it here and a mirror here.
Excellent! Thanks Captain
Interesting, I don't think I've ever seen an official update that voided your warranty before.
Should I be worried that it's been stuck on the "sending" screen (on the PC, Windows 7) and the phone on the HTC logo for over 30 minutes?

Not sure what SuperSU has to do with this RUU, but you should be able to flash SuperSU fine (as long as you're using the recovery from my thread).
So to clarify (sorry if this is a stupid question), but will this keep root? Just have to flash SU after? I'm rooted and s-off right now with custom ROM.

This is an official RUU from HTC. You will lose root and custom recovery. You'll have to flash the custom TWRP from my thread or Philz's modified CWM, and then you can flash SuperSU for root. Make sure your bootloader is unlocked after running this though - otherwise you won't be able to write permanently to /system.
Thanks, captain. I figure it out. I used the modified twrp.

Can anyone using this RUU comment on if their bootloader is still unlocked after?
Still on hboot 1.12.2222 (I think) and can probably figure out flashing supersu through TWRP after I flash TWRP.
Captain, can you link your thread? I've only used your zips for flashing firmware bits, radios, etc.
Thank you,

My bootloader stayed unlocked the entire time. My thread is in OG Dev. If you flash the RUU, you'll only need a recovery.
I'm experiencing a weird problem with the update. HTC beats audio doesn't enable unless I do the refresh on the blink homescreen or if I disable it, and enable it via settings. Once it goes to another track, it turns off again despite showing the icon that means it is on. I have to repeat the said steps to get it on again. This is using the HTC music app, and Google Play music app. Anyone aware of this? This is all stock with the new RUU.

I believe that's a known issue.

Okay, thank you. I tried searching on Google, and I did not find anything. Will they address this, or is it unlikely?

Well they knew about it before giving us the final version and they didn't fix it. That suggests to me that it's unlikely to be fixed.
Thanks for this, downloaded and I'm gonna give it a shot, I'd like to root after, but I'm a bit confused, Where do I get the modified twrp? and also a little help on how to flash it cause it's been a while I flash something to my evo and with all the keeping up with my note 2, well I feel like new to the htc evo again.
Thanks!

Yes.
i thought i read somewhere that needed to relock bootloader, so i did, caused me lots of problems trying to flash ruu. it wouldnt complete ruu, got some htc_fastboot.exe errors, had to restart ruu 3-4x...finally decided to unlock bootloader again and give it a go. completed, no issues so far, all is good again. now shows only unlocked, not tampered unlocked as before ruu
