I jus got my brand new NEO V.. It's still unrooted..!
I activated the gprs pack on my carrier i.e Airtel(I live in India)..
But on the 2nd day itself I started experiencing gprs problem..
Even though my gprs is turned on, the "E" signs with those up-down arrows are still appearing, but I can't access the internet after sometime..
The gprs works for sometime but then it stops working as if it gets tired..(Lol!!).. then I've to restart the phone, again turn on gprs, it works for sometime & then freezes..!!!!
All my APNs are correctly set..
Whats the problem and whats the solution for it..??
All help is appreciated..
Can you test your SIM card in another phone? If the same SIM card have problems in a different phoje then th probpem os related to your provider. Then instead of rebooting the phone just swith to airplane mode and then turn off airplane mode, this way the phone will register again. I had similar issue some time ago with a Nokia phone, problem was solved after switching provider.
If you have a very old SIM card it will be a good idea requesting a new one.

Have u tried to simply disable and enable the "Data Enabled" setting on "Settings ---> Wireless & Networks ---> Mobile Networks" ?
This will make your phone to disconnect and reconnect to the GPRS network.
Some network operators could disconnect GPRS connections if there is no network activity during some time. So, check if the network disconnections are after some inactivity periods of time.
Yeah it should be operator problem I know airtel very well...:banghead:
"Switching to AIRPLANE mode" did work..
But still it works for sometime only..! the problem starts again..
I've to keep switching to airplane mode every now n then..!
Is there some other to permanently solve this problem..??:fingers-crossed:

The reason why airplane mode works is because it turns off the GSM radius and other stuff, switching the airplane mode on/off have the same effect as doing a reboot of the device. When you turn airplane mode Off the phone will register in the GSM network again,
It's your carrier's fault

I have a Vibrant with no data plan (I'm in Wi-Fi 99+% of the time). How can I turn off both the 2G and 3G radios, both to save battery and to make sure I'm not accidentally charged for using data?
I searched around and there are a ton of apps and widgets to toggle between 2G and 3G or disable 3G (Smoda, APNDroid, etc.), but I haven't found a way to turn both radios off. I also poked around in Service Mode, and the only options I found were to toggle between 2G/3G, not turn the radios off. Any ideas?
Not sure you can. Airplane mode will kill the WiFi too. But the best bet would be to stay on 2G and disable data roaming.

Trigger Airplane mode, slide down notification area, turn wifi back on. Bingo. I do this at School in areas where I get no reception at all but has wifi access.

Or disable APN, you will still be able to make calls but wont recive 2g or 3g, its a widget

Another option would be *#*# info#*#* then go phone information ..scroll down and hit "turn off radio" and your good to go. Or you can hit menu and press "disable data"

APNdroid shuts them off Ive used when i used my vibrant as prepaid to save battery. After you disable you have to reboot
Thanks for the help, everyone! Airplane mode + wifi is perfect.
(About APNDroid: as far as I could tell, it just changes your APN entries to invalid addresses; it doesn't actually turn off the radio. So you can't use 3G, but I was afraid it would still use the radio while searching for the invalid networks. But I don't have a great understanding of HSPDA, so I could certainly be wrong on that.)
just a heads up, airplane mode also disables calling/texting
Yes the radio would still be searching for networks if you disable the apn
If you get the Juice Defender app, it has a "Toggle Mobile Data" widget. It's a nice 1x1 widget that turns off the mobile data radios (but not Wifi). This is the best solution I've found.

Hey all,
I have a very odd problem that is actually apparent in the HTC Desire forums by 2 other people. (found using the search that comes up when starting a new thread)
When I use my phone on WiFi the data is automatically turned off (I'm assuming because WiFi takes priority, however when WiFi drops, the data does not reconnect and I am left with just the reception bars for SMS/Calling.
To fix this I must either cycle aeroplane mode or go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Vodafone Internet and then when I'm in the editing screen for that APN the data reconnects.
I have tried making a shortcut directly to the APN settings using LauncherPro activities shortcut but the data will only reconnect if I take the long way (or cycle aeroplane mode as it is a quicker fix)
Please help, this is very annoying as my data doesn't reconnect when I leave my home WiFi in the mornings until I notice it half way through the day.. missing many important emails
Thanks in advance.

u could use a widget to toggle the APN (extenedcontrols)
but i had the same problem on my old Desire from Telstra until it was updated to Froyo and then i never had the problem again.
What firmware version are you running? Also are you running Gingerblur, gladatrix or stock?
1.57 with gingerblur. Thanks for the tip about toggling the apn I will try that soon

i noticed that my galaxy s 2 has some problems connecting to our 3g network here in taiwan
whenever i put my network setting to auto 3g/wcdma OR only wcdma, my connection keeps getting dropped, itll work for a while then disconnect, then reconnect, and so on
but when i just use "only gsm" it will work but it is very slow
and i was wondering about this because in auto mode, shouldnt it still be able to work since it will just automatically use gsm if wcdma is not enough?
i tried it with several roms and kernels, along with restoring a taiwan csc, but it still shows this problem
i was wondering if this was a common problem, or if it is a problem with my network provider
You can try to Lookup fast dormancy if like. and toggle yours to off or on as needed. Either change the nwk_info as i did or *#9900# for a setting change that does not survive reboot.

i think the problem i have is that the 3g signal here in my area is weak, so when it is in auto mode, it detects a bit of 3g so it doesnt change back to gsm
i read a lot of threads saying that it would be better to put the network setting to gsm auto prl, but when i try to change to this setting, it doesnt stick
Hi all,
I went on vacations, had my phone on airplane mode most of the time. When I came back I turned airplane mode off and now I can only connect to 2g antennas, if I select 3G only I don't get any signal.
When I try to manually search for network operators I get a "Connection unavailable" message
Any idea of what might be going on/how to fix it?

I flashed cyanogenmod to see if it was the radio driver but that didn't help
Check your apn settings maybe

When I select 3g only I can't even configure apns, I don't even get cellular signal.
Don't select 3G only. Use automatic.
Also if you have subscribed to a 3G plan, keep your data connection ON and try a restart.
Even face this often as i travel between two distant places once in a month. First time i did a factory reset. But second time onwards this helped.

If I go into developer settings and switch off Mobile data always active (in an attempt to save a little power when the phone is on Wifi), I find the phone often doesn't enable data when I leave Wifi. I have to cycle airplane mode to make it do it.
Anyone else finding the same bug? Or even using this setting?
I've had dropped connection issues since day 1, with airplane mode being the only way to restore my connection. And this was with Mobile Data always active set to on.
Who is your Carrier??
Have you noticed similar issues even with mobile data always active?
When I go to building with no cellular and come back outside. The phone doesn't automatically reconnect to cellular, leaving me with no service. What a strange bug.

EE in the UK. Works fine almost all the time so far if I keep mobile data active.
Vodafone Romania, toggled the setting off in dev options as soon as I got the phone. Data switching works fine still.
Try going into the testing menu (dialer code *#*#4636#*#*), select phone information, select 3dot menu on top right corner, try switching around between Europe and automatic. I'm my case ,selecting Europe presented various weird connection issues , biggest of which was that the phone refused to connect to LTE unless I used "automatic".
