Is it safe to over clock CPU on a RAZR - Motorola Droid RAZR

I have been wondering this for a while now and I was thinking if there is a way how far is safe.
If it is possible then what values would allow me to still have good battery life but also an over locked CPU
Sent from my XT910

I had it running at 1300mhz for awhile with no ill effects....but i was undervolted as well.

What program did you use to overclock and undervolt.
If you can remember what your volt values were it would be a great help ;D
Sent from my XT910

Wow, sorry i haven't been on in a while lol...over at r3ds forums there's a script you can run on your computer that will install overclocking support on your phone.

[Q] Increase benchmark scores

So I know most everyone says to ignore the scores and just go with if it feels good, but I'm trying to get my scores up for a friendly competition with a couple guys from work. Any suggestions so I can beat my friend's ATRIX?

Yeah, but now he's got me beat by about 400 points...any way to fake one?

Well, you could run a task killer and kill everything.
Can't believe I said that...

Lol, I already stooped that low. Allows me to break 5000 on AnTuTu. I'm looking for better cheats now.

He's on AT&T... so the ratio of dropped calls is exponential in comparison.
Odd. Cause on stock GB on both phones my x2 gets higher scores than my friends Atrix, otherwise they are pretty equal. We both have a decent amount of apps/widgets on our phones.
Yeah, but I found out he's overclocked, so its hardly a fair fight. Until we can match those speeds, I'm not going to worry about it.

[Q] Possible mods from the xoom?

Would it be possible to bring some of the Mods from the Motorola Xoom over to the photon? As far as i can see they have the same hardware so why could we not bring the overclock kernels over?
I'm a bit of a noob so don't kill me if it sounds stupid.

Haven't really looked at the mods the xoom has but there are a couple OC kernals. Im on one put put by joker, goes to 1.3

The xoom has s kernel to OC at 1.7, and my xoom runs 1.5 no problem
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
While they are both tegra 2, its not the same chip. The zoom's tegra is bigger to handle heat better because the gpu is overclocked in the zoom. If we had the same chip then yes but sadly no

Theres a 1.4

We should be able to port some of the apps back and forth, such as the task manager we have and some other apps, right?

Why no razr maxx forum here?
Thanks.

not necessary everything is the same with the Droid Razr and the Razr Maxx the only difference is the battery life

Thanks.

Its an issue because without an unlocked boot loader you are restricted to the kernel in the build that comes with the phone stock or with what's provided OTA.
If Motorola were to lift the bootloader lock, than you would have complete freedom to replace all the software on the phone. Also it would make flashing ROMS much simpler. No need for bootstrap/safestrap anymore and you would be able to rely on more traditional recoveries like TWRP and CWM.

Oh.
Thank you for responding. I appreciate you for it.

No problem at all.
Honestly just having root access is a huge start.. But custom kernels are where your amazing battery life and driver support come in for some really amazing features.
Custom kernels are synonymous with custom ROM's. True over and underclocking are only possible with a custom kernel (except in rare cases) and if you want to undervolt? Definitely not going to happen on stock lol

[Q] how would u rate my test scores?!

Tell me your honest opinion... I don't know too much about these results, so I'd appreciate it if I could get a little feedback
I'm currently running eclipse 1.3 and I had my system overclocked at 1300 on a regular razr if that changes anything lol

it's really great score, the best i ever had (stock cpu frequency on eclipse or stock rom) is 6200, but with OC to 1300 i reach 6500
Hahaha well thanks for that )! Good to know I got some great hardware in my hands hahah
Oh and for the record, I was actually running at 1350 mhz haha whoops. I just double checked

those seem pretty good.

I recommend undervolting with setcpu to 1GHz with that kernel. That should keep the heat down.

yup i second that option or you will burn up the phone !

Weirdly enough I find mine gets quite hot sometimes randomly no matter which rom or voltages I run..the older ones seem cooler...

Also you can run alogcat and see if there's an error process that's looping. Look for red entries.. I've found that this will cause extreme heat issues if the loop doesnt terminate..
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Try to fix permissions to perhaps repair looping errors to reduce CPU load.
