Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has tried to install Beats audio
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motioncoding.beats
It should run even under stock firmware (root needed) and it's supposed to increase audio performances. I'm not sure it can be easily uninstalled, and someone says it could damage the system.
Opinions about it?
Thanks.

I have installed in the custom rom [GB] GxG JellyBread & in rooted Google Nexus & noticed a big difference.
What it does is replace the original system audio related files. If you're installing it, there's no turning back - uninstalling the app would not revert back the rom's original files. It will only remove beats logo (the one appears when headset plugs in).
If ur not sure what ur about to play with, always take a nandroid backup mate! cheerz!
Sorry my answer so late.
Which version did you install? I had a look at some Beats Audio threads and I'm quite confused. Thanks a lot.

Just my meaningless 2 cents but I thought the dolby and beats features sucked. It sounds more full using the SRS feature. But I also have the dsp manager set too so music in other apps sounds how I like it.
Could I get it too please? Thanks.

I agree, I didnt try the dolby, but I did try the beats modded one. I'm a musician with a very keen ear and I noticed zero difference in sound with the beats feature turned on as opposed to off and I was using $500 shure in ear monitors. You can noticeably hear a difference with SRS enabled though.
Can someone upload a zip of this or email it to me also?

Should I have a "Beats" option? I installed this and I have "No effects", SRS enhancement, and Equalizer (headphones only).

Installed via Recovery to my rooted, odexed, stock rom. What did I do wrong? The settings should just show up in the stock Music player, correct?

In case you missed it, op states not to flash, to push them manually. Instructions are a few posts up.
Edit: sorry wrong thread. Yea, it should. Try pushing the file though.

I screwed up. I flashed the zip and I no longer have srs enhancement. Can someone please post the original HTC music apk? Thanks

Just curious, but would it be possible to port the beats equalizer to dsp manager? The reason I ask is because I use the Google music app. Not sure if its even possible but thigh it would be worth a shot to ask.

Do you have the link to the other thread you were talking about (with instructions on how to push these manually)?
I am uploading a db link as we speak. All of you want this feel free to grab it. It is a flashable zip for the cdma evo 3D deodex containing the music apk and music enhancer apk. It has 3D widget animations, dolby, beats, and srs stock. I DID NOT MAKE IT, it's from warm236. I simply zipped the apps, enjoy.
Edit: here it is, feel free to add to the OP.

I believe the original request was for an Odex'd port. You wouldn't happen to have that one, would you?

All you would need to do in that case is:
1. pull the apps from the zip
2. go into /system/app and delete the two apps that are there by default
3. delete ^^^ those apps' corresponding odex files
4. copy the 2 apps from my zip into /system/app
5. change permissions for both rw_r__r__ (or chmod 644)
6. reboot
Hi, I want to use DSP manager to unlock the "dynamic range compression" features of my Samsung Galaxy Player YP-G70.
Do I need to install a ROM to be able to unlock this feature? To my knowledge there are no ROM's available yet for the YP-G70 yet, but I have no desire to use any of the features that the ROMs offer, other than to get the audio compression feature working for the "DSP Manager.apk" app.
Yes, I already have the YP-G70 device rooted.
Any help would be appreciated, or to direct me in the right area.
Thank you!
If you are running gingerbread, you can install like a normal apk, or push to /system/app with root. If froyo then you have to have lib files.

Yes, I'm running gingerbread 2.3.5
When I install as a normal .apk everything is there and functional (equalizer, bass boost and loudness comp, etc.) except the "dynamic range compressor" portion, which does not work.
Oh, I'm not sure then...are you using one from a cm7? Maybe an older version of the app?
Sorry I can't be more help.

Hello
I read some topics and it seems that my only option is factory reset but anyway I decided to have a go here as well. The problem is related to a rooted app called Beats audio installer which installs some drivers on the device that seem to be unremovable. I already uninstalled the app itself but the drivers obviously remained on the device since every time I try to use an external equaliser for my music player, said equaliser crashes with messages that point out there's an external app that prevents it from starting. On every other board or forum the same problem is said to be resolved by a factory reset. Since it's not the best option for me, I was wondering if someone had a more practical solution.
Thanks

Did you tried to remove it with titanium backup app...
The drivers don't show anywhere in titanium backup, if you are asking if I made a backup and restored it to the original state then no I didn't
but in general I'm basically trying to avoid that

Can someone please tell me why DSP Manager and other similar sound MODs apps like Noozxoide are removed or stop working after flashing BeatsAudio,XLoud, etc?
Also is there any way to get them back without breaking the flashed MOD?
Flashing beats replaces some files and modifies the audio.conf file, but they also use additional files like the beats libs to process the audio which the standard DSP Manager can't work with. Usually they will replace the DSP Manager with a custom or modified version that can work with the modified and additional files.
I have a modified version I got from a thread here called BeatsControl that worked well when I used it, if you need it let me know and I can up it for you.

They must have found out not much users are using DSP d.. Personally, I've tried Awesome and Acid, beats and Noozxoide but this is my favorite.. It outperforms..

I can't seem to get DSPManager to not FC no matter how I install it. I've tried flashing as a system app and installing as user, clearing cache/data and with any KK/Sense rom thus far the app always immediately force closes. It worked fine for ICS and JB builds but it seems something going on in KK or Sense is interfering. Has anybody got DSP working on KK/Sense?

I'm aware of that app although I would like to stick to finding a solution to the problem I stated and not simply using a different app.
It has always fc'd on any CM ROM ive tried, its something you've got to accept.
I use Viper's built in sound enhancer. Works flawlessly and better than DSP

I don't think dsp works on HTC phones. I have had it work on nexus devices and moto ones but never on an HTC.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It usually force closes due to a missing library call in lib audio effects.
Usually stereowide is the one missing....fwiw.
Not really hard to fix.

I tried Viper but none of the settings had any effect on audio, a common issue with DSP as well. I'm gonna fiddle with it a bit more though.

Actually the old v1 of DSP works fine on 4.2.2/Sense 5.0 and earlier when the proper audioeffects text file is flashed to etc. It not working for people through the years has mostly to do with this and DSP's inability to take exclusive priority over the global audio output of any given device. CM are the one's actually maintaining the app, of which there is a 3rd version which doesn't force close in KK/Sense but also won't do anything to the audio effects either. I had this same problem with Viper4Android. It constantly prompts me to install a binary but the settings never change the sound. I don't think it's the audioeffects config file or the libs but some other file such as audiopolicy. If anyone knows what changes are present in KK that differ from JB in terms of how Android and Sense handle audio effects that information would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm...now we're getting somewhere. I have done some audio effect editing myself which is how I got DSP to work from Sense 3.5-5.0 roms. So you are saying "stereowide" causes FC's in KK because the original version of DSP won't even open in KK. I don't recall ever seeing that effect....can you post an example for me to test? Just the audio effect file.
