Any guide on how to do it? Urgent ;( my receipient can hear me but I cant hear them.
Get the modem and flash it via Odin or cwm, whichever one it is. .tar for Odin and .zip for cwm.
XXLH1 is the modem you need I think.
Here's XXLH1 for cwm

I have made a nandroid backup from cwm before I reflashed. OK if I flash that back?
That doesn't backup your modem.
Just flash the modem via cwm and that'll do it

SGS3 shows emergency calls only on talk talk mobile.

Hi sorry if i seem like a noob this is my first post.
So basically i was on stock until i decided to flash omegas rom, im now currently using 27.1 and siyah kernel 1.7b4 and no matter what i do i cannot make phone calls or send texts from my phone, it just says emergency calls only. I have rang their customer support who sent me a new sim out that didnt work and well ive basically tried everything i know in the settings and what not, i always do a full wipe coming from any rom even if it states i dont need too.
So im hoping you guys have some ideas.
Thanks.

Might have been a bad download for either the rom or the kernel. Try and redownload both (Can get the update versions as well, Omega v28, or v29 soon, and Syiah 1.7rc1) if you like.
Try reflashing those, as well as formatting /system, wiping both cache and delvic cache, and then fixing permissions.
Does it display as if you have a signal? Have you checked your imei number?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Hi i will try that v28 is currently downloading and i will reflash siyah to see if that helps.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Hi yeah i have full signal and my imei is displayed correctly.

Im not sure if this matters but when i did the *#1234# thing all the things are different. Not sure whether this could have caused it or not.

Just 're flashed omega v28 doing a full wipe wipe cache and dalivik and still no change. I just left the original kernel that came with omega. Really don't know what's happened to my phone.

I would try a factory reset at this point. Wiping /system and /data as well.
I have done that and it still isn't working.

CM 10.1 I9100 custom modem?

I have this problem: with stock CM 10.1 installation files, sometimes people are not able to call me and I am not able to call others. I only can fix this by restarting my I9100 or turning on and off airplane mode.
I asked about this issue in this forum, and one man recommended to install custom modem. So I would like to ask, what kind of modem should I install in order to fix this problem?
Thanks.
You can try the app Getril, from the play store. However I'm not quite sure what is meant by a custom modem. There is a thread here that has modems matched to RILs but as yet non have been made for 4.2.1. I looked there this morning. All I can suggest is try a fully clean installation or roll back to your previous rom.
All the best

By modem I mean that file which you choose when you install custom rom through download mode in odin's "modem" section.
I see, all the modems I've ever flashed were in zip format done via CMW. Sorry I can't be of further assistance.

Yup. On xda, you'll find that majority prefer the use of CWM recovery over odin since it doesn't increase the binary counter and is much easier. Simply download any modem for your device (which will be in a .zip format) and flash from recovery.
Remember that modems are not rom or android version specific. A gingerbread modem can be used with a jellybean rom.

By custom modem i thought he was referring to the modified modem/ril zip files that are better than those supplied by the Getril app. In that thread it states not use GB or ICS files with JB roms. Thread attached for your reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31416701

Before the release of the leak (XXLSJ), many were on cm10 (4.1.2) with older modems/rils, usually those of ICS. It does work, but maybe its not so optimised to work on JB? I dunno, I'm not that much of a technical expert...

Network Not Registered on Stock or other ROMs besides Android Revolution HD

Good day.
I was going back & forth from Stock & SuperNexus 2.0 just fine. Then I tried Android Revolution ROM, and now my problem is everytime I flash Stock or any other ROM, I can't text or call. The signal bar is fine. It's just that I can only make Emergency calls and it says Network Not Registered. But if I flash back Android Revolution, it's fine again. I've tried the clean routine (Factory Reset/Wipe Cash/Wipe Dalvik), still no luck.
Anyone encountered this before or any solution/suggestions?
Thank you.

is your imei intact? does it match what is under your battery? how about serial number? did you flash a rom with an mg4 or mg2 baseband? do you have a backup of your efs folder? read these before flashing anything further http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393289 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731
good luck!
Thank you for the reply. Im guessing that's what happened. But I will try to determine if my IMEI changed, so is my efs.
I hope there's a workaround and its reversible.
Thank you again.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
if you did not back up your efs folder and if your imei has changed than most likely you flashed a newer baseband from mg4 mg5 or mg6 roms . and then reverted to an older baseband which can no longer read your efs folder. some people have been able to fix the problem by flashing once again an mg4 or mg5 or mg6 rom. perhaps doing this will allow you to regain your network connection and efs folder.
I checked. My IMEI and SERIAL Numbers are still the same with what's written on the back of my phone.
I've also confirmed on the Android Revolution HD 29 thread that it doesn't change the efs.
Any other ideas guys?
Thank you.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
android revolution 29 modifies the efs folder so that it cant be used by older modems. it uses the mg4 baseband. since your imei is intact i am guessing that you are either back on android revolution or a rom that uses either mg4 or mg2 baseband as those are the only basebands that will work with the modified efs folder. if you still have no network but imei abd serial number are intact then check your apn settings to see if they are correct and compatible with your carrier

Android Revolution HD 29.0
--- release date: 31 July 2013 ---
•Based on latest official Samsung 9300XXEMG4 firmware
•Other minor changes and fixes
•Included and updated custom components:
I see. Yes, I am on AR29 right now since it's the only ROM I have that's has a working cellular network.
I made a recovery (cwm) backup when I was on SuperNexus, which I had no network problem with.
1) Can I extract my efs from there & flash that? Or...
2) Can I try and restore that backup without any major problems?
My ultimate goal really is to go back to my Stock ROM.
Btw, thank you so much for your patience Sir.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
cwm does not backup efs . for efs backup use hc-ktool from play market and efs pro. make backups and leave them on your ext sd card as well as your computer. you can flash any stock firmware from sammobile.com as long as the rom is in the "G" series. for example mg4 or mg5 or mg6. any rom from a-f will not read the efs as they all use older basebands. basically you cannot go backwards.there are many roms now that use mg basebands if you cant find one that matches the csc for your country than try any other firmware as long as it is a G rom or higher.
Very educational Sir.
Thank you again for your help.
It's much appreciated.
Good day.

you are welcome . good day to you!
I too use supernexus and stock. Also had this issue. You can still use any rom , you just have to flash a mg4 onwards baseband. For example, you can be on the supernexus ROM with mg4 baseband and you can make calls as usual.

No. I guess I'll just have to find ROMS with mg4 onwards. Stock or otherwise.

flash a stock f/w XXEMG4 or later via odin and then root it. then flash any custom rom via recovery(CWM touch or PHILZ). the custom rom(any AOSP rom)continues to use the same modem you have on the stock f/w.
:good:
Thanks I'll try to do it
