lesson no. 1
you need the base files...
you can get it from?
1. a nandroid backup of your own device
2. a pc companion blob
3. someone else's rom
4. an ftf file
option 3 is best usually
option 2 and 4 are worst...and anyways can be used only for stock based roms

lesson 2
how to extract files
1. if its a .sin file, use sin2img.exe by azuzu or sin2img.py by defer and continue to step 2
2. if its a .img file, get unyaffs.exe (or get the whole xperia rom manager package) and use it to extract
3. if its a zip...well....what do you need then? nothing

lesson no 3
thre is a thread in dev section written by spaarc which is about porting roms (its 80% complete...lol)
though it may not pertain to you, if you are not porting cm7/miui but still that's a very informative thread...read it thoroughly

nandroid backup =.xrecovey/cwm backup
search "azuzu tools" on google
or "xperia rom manager"

lesson 4
read as much as possible about amend/edify script...
without that script, your rom cannot be installed... that script defines the "flashing" process

lesson 5
get accustomed with adb, and logcat....
these are an Android developer's foremost tools

Hello !!
I'm trying to get rid of these ugly smileys that are provided with the stock ROM.
(I'm on Arc S , .42 ROM)
I use the stock SE sms app.
I've modified my Framework-res.apk , and replaced the original SE smileys with the stock android ones (you know, these little bugdroids).
I've put back framework-res.apk in the correct folder (with root explorer), set the correct permissions, and rebooted my phone.
No bootloop or such problem.
BUT, i still get the original Sony Ericsson smileys....
I've checked again in my Framework-res.apk that is in the phone, and the simleys are the correct ones (i mean the little bugdroids).
What am i missing ? do i need to modify anything else ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Like this one I'm using?
edit conversation.apk bro.

No because it was made for ICS. You might be able to grab the drawables from jaders and put it into the GB radio.
