blue s3 runs hotter than white s3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a blue and a white s3 at the moment before I decide what one to keep and I have noticed the blue one gets Alito hotter than the white one? could this be a problem or just because all phones are slightly different?

Darker coloured phones absorb more heat probably..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

so you could say it's drawing more heat away from the quad core thus being better for it? lol
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

well yes and no, it could also be worse as it will absorb heat from its surroundings and may conduct that back to the processor
And yes I do realise how silly this thread is

So better not buy a black one, it will frie your cpu

It's not just internal heat that the dark colored phones are trapping, they trap ambient heat as well (e.g. Sunlight, lamps).

I'm just noticing this, I'm outside in the sun now and the blue one is defiantly warmer all over compared to the white. the battery is going to love that I bet

I just checked the battery temp and the blue one is on 38c just from surfing the net is this actually normal?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

38° is nothing... i have easily 48° with the white s3 on 3g, same goes for other devices
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

When using it inside I can't feel any difference in temp...
Out in the sun I can understand the blue one will get hotter.

Every processor is different. Even if they are same brand. That's the only reason.

Did you just walk out of a cave and this is your first electronic device? It's normal for things to get a little warm...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Nothing to worry about. Most electrical items when left on get warm.

Super dumb NOOB question

What if I tried to replace the LCD with the AMOLED from the One S
Doubt the tapes are gonna be the same or the overall LCD will fit the way it should.

True but I'm just guessing, you should get a pic of both parts and compare them, possible google their dimensions, etc.

What does this mean? - battery related [solved]

What does it mean if the battery top is dark/red when the original/normal should be white. I also have another slightly red with white.
Is it still in good health, or should i dispose it?

Those are water damage indicator stickers. They don't affect the performance of the device.
Guessing your stuff got wet or damp.

Never happened to me. You don't mention anything about if your rooted or have another ROM on your device.

I have seen that happen on my s3. After a while it goes away. I had it too on my gnex. I think it's some app that is running in the background. Was concerned at first but never did anything about it. Try installing GSAM battery monitor. It shows which process consumes the most battery. There are other apps better, but this one is free.

Gps signal blocked by case

I had a very weird problem!
After 3 months without any bug on my S3 I started to have very long GPS fix time (about 15 minutes) and some times non fixing issue...
I Tryed everything since change rom, give some punches, replace the battery, change kernels, etc...
Suddenly and by chance I figured out that the new case a friend gave to me was blocking the signal!!
What the hell!!!!
I have been using many kind of cases including thick rubber one and only this innocent and thin one caused it!!!
Hope it can help someone.

Nastiest aspect is, that when using the phone now against your head listening.
The radio waves are directed towards your head trying to escape!
This should be a health issue too. More of a reason to use the headset now

That's probably why then, it doesn't take much to block a GPS signal.

Get a case with a cut on the top left corner in the back.
