Hi everyone..
i bought a Xperia sola a couple of months back.. i am having a problem with the app killer in the phone.. though it frees up ram.. it kills apps on its own and i am having trouble downloading the extra files that are required to run games like max payne and gta as the phone kills the app as soon as it goes into the background and stops the download..
Any help is appreciated.. thanks..
Disable the auto killer function or set it to low. You shouldn't use a task killer in the first place.

I have searched all over but I have no option of turning it off or changing parameters.. I meant that the phone does it on its own

Cm9 or gingerbread?
Looks like cm9. Says cm_tenderloin which is what cm9 says

I'm running at max settings on CM9 0.5 at 1.7 GHZ. Very minimal lag, looks great, and using a Sixaxis PS3 controller puts it over the top. Amazing!
Off topic a bit: but I got up to the sniper mission and lost all my data. Can anyone provide me a save game file?

You could have just a bad download. This happened on my Nexus S, would try to start the game and it would crash about a third of the way through loading.
I would start with deleting the "com.rockstar.gta3" folder under "Android/data" on your SD card. Doing that will force the game to redownload data. Keep in mind if you do that you'll use any game progress.
What is the best auto app killer Facebook always continues to run in the background using 10 to 40% CPU I need an application that will kill it as soon as my screen goes off
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
I actually stopped using auto app killers about 5 months ago after reading several articles on how the android operating system works. I would suggest maybe just using task manager to kill it when yer done with it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
That's a pain Especially since I'm not supposed to be on my phone at work and that's just one more thing I would have to do an more chance of getting caught

Advanced Task Killer seem to work well for me.
Hi guys dead space running smooth in my galaxy y but after completion of 10 level it force closes...

Please my friend Don't give opinion if you don't know it exactly.
My dead space is force close after
10th chapter so it is right version.
If it is wrong than it will even not load.
Other thing there is different between crash and force close
Let me explain that.
If your apk or data is corrupted than it will crash force closing is something different..
If we don't have any idea let other intelligent people help US.
Press thanks button if you know anything new from me.
Good day

It's all about ram. If you have 512 mb and running ICS or JB, just forget it..1 gb would be just ok, if you don't open much apps. You can set priority of apps in some tasks manager, maybe system tuner? Never tried... Waiting for the galaxy note with 2 gb!

Well. My iPad 2 with 512ram doesn't do this.. So I assume it's the os.

I assume its the OS just closing inactive background tasks no? Cant be ram issues...

Still doesn't work. Pages still have to reload after inactive for a while.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Android is a totally different operating system than iOs (and also requires more Ram for itself)
It runs a lot of tasks in the background unlike iOs, which makes it a lot more adaptable and flexible but also more resource-intensive.
Secondly apps are categorized in groups, which are then consecutively killed based on their OOM (Out of memory) score, the lowest group being "empty app" and regrouping all apps that are no longer being needed. Typically "empty" is killed when there are 90MB left (customizable if rooted).
First off you may want to check what eats your Ram (Java is one of the worst languages for Ram in the entire universe) and kill/freeze/remove those processes.
Then take a look into zRam for extended Ram (swap) and set swappiness to 99
There once were experimental patches that forced selected tasks into swap instead of killing them but since they were hooked right into memory management, that used up lots of Cpu cycles and caused strange behaviours - sadly.
Btw, needing 1Gig for Ics or Jb is just bollocks. Galaxy S1's run awesome under Ics and even such devices as the 256MB Ace get a lot better.

How do I customize the thing? The part where you say I need to be rooted.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Its only reload if you closed it on tasks
So dont do it
Sent from my GT-I9300
when you want to leave the browser in the background do you press back button or home? I have the experience with facebook app that if i press back than when i get back to the app it reloads as if i closed it, but if i press home then come back to the app it's there as i left it. As to the browser can't really say anything as I use maxthon browser and don't usually have reloading problems.
One such app is "Advanced tools".
However it is strictly recommend to leave those values alone unless you REALLY know what you are doing since tweaking these values without any knowledge will only worsen the problem or make your phone more or less unusuable with lag.

No it doesn't.. It somehow auto closes. I've read somewhere android auto closes inactive tasks.

No!!!
I explained a few posts earlier exactly when and how Android kills processes. Inactivity is a LRU factor but certainly not the trigger to kill an app.
Two words: v6supercharger,swap!

Question
Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone actually found a solution to this problem? I've tried supercharger, minfree manager, RAM manager pro, and Galaxy Tuner. None have proven to be an actual solution to the problem that seems to be baked right in to the heart of all versions of Android after eclair (I'm actually on the Epic, not the GS3).
Is this fixable or am I just chasing my tail on this one?

UPDATE: Current list of things tried
- Supercharger/Bulletproof
- MinFree Manager
- RAM Manager Pro
- Galaxy Tuner
- "build.prop" trick
- "local.prop" trick
- Auto memory manager application
Hello everyone i am starting this thread to see if there is anyone haave the sam problem.I tried basically everything (except rooting ) reinstalling the software, boosting up with tge different apps evrything but it seems to be not helpful.I mean ICS is not so bad itself on SXS but it looks like something is causing the lack of RAM and that's why my phone is bugging and being slow. For the RAM i found oyt that from the avaliable of 635MB i only have 48 free and than i have to restart my phone. So i tried Task Killers and stuff like that and honestly it wasnt so helpful. So o googled it and i found out that it is up to Android to kill apps when necessary itself, and that i shouldn't use any apps such as task killers just let the android work for himself.Than i think my android doesn't work well than.So anyone found a solution for this? And please if you would tell me if this is up to hardware or software thing?

What build are you? .452 or.1.58 or 2.45? The latest one seems to have fixed my problem I had with it. I generally have 200 Mb free now.
But to not use a lot of heavy apps that stay ob background, that is what kill the RAM.

I've had my device running for quite a while on cm 9 nightly and I'm always around 200.
What I don't understand is the whining about ram, if the device needs ram it clears ram.

I use eracter Rom and I have 300 mb free ram after one day... I have a few services running besides Gmail, maps and the home locked in memory...
So uninstall all the bloatware and avoid opening all apps within a short time

This phone supposed to be 1GB ram, however it drop to 620mb+ because of the driver need to run this phone. It's mean that 370mb of the ram can't be modify to use.
My experience with my previous phone x8. It's ram is only 168 in stock rom. But nowaday dev could create kernel with updated driver which use less ram! So now it reachs 185mb!
I hope dev here could do the same to our beloved XS!
