Correct.
Anytime you have a different kernel it has to be flashed specially

Rxpert and wileout you guys deserve some kind of medal or trophy for your services. I have not had any issues due to my ability to read and read before I attempt anything, but if I were in trouble its nice to know there are guys like you still around. I used to help a lot back in the hero days, but have little to offer these days.

Theres more to it than that. If you are on the old base the phone wont work right if you flash the new base.
Not all sense kernels are equal

Are there any special requirements to do this? Like having s-off? or not having hboot 1.15? I have CM10, hboot 1.15, I was thinking if i do a fullwipe and flashboot.img and flash in recovery, I should be fine right?

Just follow this post to flash the new MeanROM kernel, and then the latest MeanROM. Just an FYI, Mikey is cooking 3.8 right now, so I'd hold off for a couple hours until it releases.

It says that I should first have at least 3.4 as a base, so that means I should first get 3.4 right via fastboot flash.img method?

It doesn't matter which rom you're on, whether 3.4 or cmx. The steps ill get you where you want to go

I've had nothing but trouble with MEANROM. It lags more than my OG EVO to the point of being un-useable (10 second delay for touchscreen actions at times), especially after coming from Deck's CMX, but it switches between wifi, 3g and 4g fast which CMX doesn't do for me, yet.

MeanRom is ok, Mikey does his thing but its updated to often for me lol, like 3-4 times a week. I dont have access to WiFi right now and I have cricket service. Sense 4 Roms are all 400Mbs and up and my data is scarce lol, I hate to feel like I'm missin out so I just stick with Viper/CMX nightlys. Somebody should make him a cooler boot animation, such a awesome Rom deserves a better animation than it currently has

Im gonna have to say eternity rom by virus with tiamat sense kernel. It by far the smoothest rom out, ive tried them all including myn. Eternity is odex so it is much smoother than deodex roms.

How's the battery life on both of these ROMs?
myn's wins hands down....
although i got great battery on decks (until it totally crashed and wouldnt boot out of random and always rebooted and stuff for me)
and synergy had great performance (too far into beta though. looks and feels very unfinished and buggy)
I gotta give it to Eternity.
I've used ViperROM 1.3. Synergy from r100 to 502. Myn Warm 2.3, steelH, and SHOGUN.
I give it to Eternity without question.
Haha decks takes the W come on you want most stable and battery life i use my phone all the time and still get 20 plus hours on decks.

MeanROM has my vote
I cannot get over the amount of speed the device unleashes. Currently installed v0.6 and I am still pumping 4MBps down / up. At one point i was able to clock 7MBps down / 8 down. However, I will need to post an image when I test and get the results to prove it...

ROM and kernel have nothing to do with the speed of your internet.
cleanrom with anthrax RLS 009 has been my go to rom forever now, nothing else comes close
I use viper for DD but never tried mean. Viper has it all.
I vote viperROM, but I'm a little biased...

I tried the new viper base but was having a lot FC so I went back to 2.1.1 will wait until the update and then try again but I really like the way Viper 2.1 works
The newest version of viper seems to be very smooth.
I have tried both and I would definitely say that Meanrom is more stable and faster than Viperrom and that is without overclocking!

As far as stability, I had one user at over 700 hours of up time and didn't get more than that because he wanted to flash the newest version. I don't know that you can get much more stable than that lol

Next time, do a 3G/WiMAX speedtest. Your WiFi speeds are irrelevant here.

this is crazy!! i found the rite combo!!!

i been trying to find the rite combo for 3 months.. speed and good battery life.. i swear i have flashed every rom every kernel 10 times over!! lol.. i flashed infected rom eternity with infected anthrax kernel.. witch i have flashed meny times befor but this times diff my phone is running super smooth.. im geting bangin benchmark scores and my battery is good so far.. i wounder why it was never like this befor?? hope it stays like this..
I hope so too.
*Refers to sig*
This is what I was saying the whole time I was here lol. Eternity coupled up with any of the Anthrax kernels were THE best way for performance and battery life. Glad to know people are catching on though. I could never fully go back to other ROMs after this.
cool story bro
How stable and smooth is Eternity?
I'm loving Viper rom with chads kernels
Yea, tell me about it.
spook to soon
i just i spook to soon.. i just tryed to use the camera and it all messed up?? its mad fuzzy.. its the eternityr130 rom.. has this happen to anyone else?? i hope i can find a fix cause im loving my setup rite now other than my camera not working..
use stock kernel that comes with r130, problem solved
Latest Fresh ROM has incredible battery life, over 14 hours and still over 50%, plus it's very fast and smooth. Plus it's not buggy and doesn't have a stupid name or ugly theme!

Chad's older kernels are built for the older base. So his kernel with 2.17 will have issues. Update to his r14 test kernel. Camera works, although there is no preview. It still takes pics fine though.
He'll be releasing r15 in a few days that fixes everything. He currently has the only non-stock kernel for 2.17 that doesn't ha e a completely jacked up camera.
Can't get it on XDA because they hate bonafide devs now or something stupid like that. Check infectedrom.com

Mwakious has the biggest fanbase right now and can be considered as a good dev with a good rom, though I'm not quite happy with the battery drainage when the screen is on. Somebody else was complaining about the same issue, but again, every phone reacts differently, so maybe you won't even have that issue ukno..

Most of the roms have both cores enabled which will cause that battery issue.
IMO if you're going to go with an ICS ROM, Cool ICS is the best. No dual core nonsense, the right amount of tweaks, and just a good normal ROM.

Ugh not again.
First we need to know if you are GSM or CDMA.
And second, there is no "best" rom. All roms are created differently, for people with different wants and needs. And every rom will run differently on every phone. So just flash one, try it out for a day or two, and if you don't like it, try another.

Don't know if you were leaving it open to all, but I'll answer anyway. Rom is great, but in an effort to increase performance, the battery life isn't there for me. I think Mikey was in the process of balancing battery and performance when the lte came out. Since he is waiting until the ota to update, I'll try it again then.

I am using the mikey's meanrom v2.4 and it has been real stable. I also used the zr3 rom, but it did not have polaris office build into it, and I needed that since I get emails with documents attached. Didn't see any reason to purchase something that is in the mean rom. The zr3 rom is more customized, where meanrom appears to be more stock to me, but that is just my opinion.
I had no performance issues with either.
Have fun!

Meh, battery life is for razor maxx users. I like performance. there's another kernel over in the mikmik forums (or maybe it was the BAMF forums now that I think about it) but it didn't work on ics sense 4, didn't try it on a sense 3.6 ics...although I'm sure it wouldn't make a difference. Theres nowhere that I've seen in the post where it says what its for. My guess is GB roms though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Yeah probably GB. HTC hasn't released source for ics, so making custom kernels is really difficult and almost impossible to get stable so that's why there are no custom kernels for ics
