flash eXteneded stock kernel.
best and most popular governor is smartassV2
I use 249MHz min CPU freq and max 652MHz
652MHz is undervolted at 975mV
It runs really smooth with this much underclock! though I'm on GB right now....
Ya,should hav written it out full, sry.
But Im usin real ics...cant underclock...I hav to keep it @ 1184mhz,otherwise its gets stuck.or should I jst change the Rom....used miui, even it consumed a lot of batt.nu ideas....plz.

Underclocking depends on kernel, not ROM?
I've tried ICS. I have used it for a couple of months. But I then reverted to GB. It's faster, lighter, less resource hungry, no lags etc.
It's a matter of personal preference I think.
Try to choose a light ROM. With only a few performance scripts/enhancements, no excess/unnecessary apps. Real ICS as good as it is, is pretty heavy in my opinion.
~652 MHz ~ 247 MHz

Doesn't make no sense to overclock to 1184MHz.....
And 134MHz actually drains more power then 249MHz. I really wish I could give you a link to see for yourself, but I read that some time ago.
134MHz and 249MHz run on the same voltage. But 249MHz gets any job done faster then 134MHz, thus using much less CPU time. And you won't have any stuttering when playing music while screen's off with 249MHz.
That goes for all kernels. All of them have 249MHz as default min freq. Execpt MESA, which seems fine with 134MHz as far as I've seen.
Anyway, please test for yourself. Get battery monitor widget (pro). It's THE best tool for batter monitoring etc.
Thanks,I'll try.

Just wondering do kernels make a difference on battery life at all.I find dooms and th japs very similar with battery life.just want to know if someone has tried many kernels for stock based Rom and what they find best.I don't care about overclocking as it causes random reboots imo

Usually rom developers would suggest suitable kernels for their roms.
Rom: feralab volt v14
kernel: doom v06

I think, the difference betweeen the kernels availible for download is not directly related to battery consumption, it is just a matter of features. Some of them are overclocked or undervolted.
As far as I know, it is the choosen governor that makes difference on battery level.
For example :
- Performance governor does set the CPU frequency to the highest one configured
- OnDemande governor increases the frequency regularly until it hits the needed one
... and so on. You can read more here and here.
On my phone I use SmartassV2 because I don't want lags but I care a little bit for the battery, maybe I am wrong. If I am, can someone correct me
Same here really not sure why it fcs there but never mind

Hi i install the MiniCm7 2.2.0 nAn, this ROM is awesome, everything works perfectly, and fast, but the battery is draining in a night without wifi and 3g use with step off from 99% to 55% .... (Ondemand, 19mhz-748mhz)
(Sorry for my english, gtranslate )

To overclock means to increase performance at the cost of battery life.. So make it normal n use governors like smartassv2 with FREQ- 122 to 600
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Also 2.2.0 drains battery very fast... 2.1.9 is WAY better follow mine and faiyyaz's way and you'll be the battery god.

Smartass v2 122-600mhz..
disabled surface dithering.
this works with me fine....
or else you can try
interactiveX 19-652mhz
undervolt checked....

I thought checking undervolt on MiniCM7 2.2 will make the overclock settings go back to default ? Since when I reboot the phone, the settings (evethough I checked the 'apply on boot') goes back to ondemand : 122 - 600 (with undervolt checked). When I leave the undervolting unchecked, the overclock value still attached even after a reboot..

no it wont mine stays at 700+ w/ interactivex after reboot. undervolt and set on boot checked
If u want to save your battery you will need to set ur cpu max to 600mhz........ Or if u make a shortcut on your destop of settings... When u dont need perfomance underclock ur cpu....and when u want.. overclock it.....dont use smartass it just reduces the overall perfomance.....better use ondemand governer...... Be sure u have callibirated the battery....

As a matter of fact u cannot get best performance & battery life together. But with Mesa ur battery life is better compare to other kernel. So u can try performance, smartass v2,interactiveX as CPU governors for performance with "sio" i/o scheduler. Don't push ur phone to hard with max cpu freq. I would suggest ~1200
349 ~ 1024
Sent from my Live With Walkman using xda premium
For good battery use... Min 134~ Max 864.... Conservati or Interectiv.... IO Deadline........ For performance use 346 ~ 1400 SmathV2 and sio IO
Isn't that harmfull for phone below of 1017 ?
And interwall beetwin max and min have any important?

We all know that our ace sucks on battery & after finding that calibration is a myth, I was kinda broken The only thing that helps us long on our battery is underclocking. There was no thread for this, so I decided to create one ! So guys, please share your frequencies, governors, I/O scheduler, rom name, kernel used & battery life for varied usages ( less, moderate & heavy ). If underclocking hasn't decreased your performance but at the same time if it has improvised battery life then it's worth sharing ! Help people love their battery that hate it like hell now

Why underclock the whole thing if you can just set a screen off profile? Using the phone while under clocked won't really give much battery. The Ace is a battery hog during screen on either way no matter what clock it's set at. All of you guys use your phone differently so that's why your battery usage varies.

i use Apocalyse ROM final which is the fastest I found so far and set to
CPU min 122
CPU max 787
Govenor smartassV2
Battery keeps normally 16-24h (no flight mode in the nigh) depending on usage.
I load battery until 4pm and can use phone until next day up to 24h

Rom : PacMan Rom v22.0.0
CPU Max : 748MHz
CPU Min : 122MHz
Governor : Smartass V2
Stable and less never heats (which means less crashes)
I use Screen off Profile for underclock, Smartass, around 700 max and 200 min..
Dont use now as I amon ultimatum rom and I am testing it so dont need that but mostly I use these settings and Battery lasts 2 days
I dont play games
After trying out many ROMs and trying various combinations of Clock Speed and Govnors, i personally feel that:
FOR BETTER BATTERY LIFE- Clock Speed: 245 - 787, Govenor- ONDEMAND (am getting 1d 5 hrs battery life with 2 hrs talktime, full time 2G connected and 3 hrs wi-fi browsing using Battery Extender 1.2)
FOR PERFORMANCE: clock: 245- 806, Govnor- SMARTASSV2
To save Battery you can further UnderClock it but I feel 787 is apt.

Try go search all X10 kernels... Look at all the kernels' functions / features...

But honestly, you don't need so fast speed on this phone...

If the led turns white and the phone reboots, then the frequency is to high.
Highest I've seen was 1228 but not many chips can run that fast for long.
I stay at a stable 1190.
