1. Kies only work for Stock based ROM
2. My files is not preinstalled in Super nexus Rom. If you want to access your files and folders, you have to download a file manager from Google Playstore (market). I recommend Solid Explorer or Es file explorer. both are free..

Voice Recorder

Can someone post the Voice Recorder from the stock ROM on our Vibrant? Also, I plan to use it on a 2.2 ROM (Onyx). Any compatibility issues with using the Voice Recorder on 2.2?
Thanks in advance.

True, but it is still the appropriate section to post this request in. Some people just don't seem to realize it... and they're a bunch a doody heads.
But I guess since I'm such a nice guy I'll just give it to you even if you did post in the wrong section.

Don't know. Hang on a minute, I'll check.
Don't know why but de-odexer failed to de-odex it. I'm running a de-odexed rom so I can't test it now.
Thanks narco, but it didn't install. I took the apk out of the rar file you posted and tried to install that. No joy.
I really thought this was the right forum. I saw someone get yelled at in the Dev forum for posting app requests.
Don't know anything about de-odex so can't say why your file didn't work. I really like the ROM I'm using except for a few little ommissions like this. I wouldn't mind the file manager from the stock rom either if you have it. I hate these ad-supported ones in the market. I know I should support the developers and buy something, but these are things we got for free with our phones. I just want some of that free goodness.
Thanks again.

No worries. Coincidentally, I happened to de-odex that file since my last post. So here is the de-odexed version that I have running perfectly on Froyo. And since you need it I'll attach a de-odexed copy of the file manager as well.
Thanks man

narco, what am I doing wrong? I downloaded the rar files you posted and extracted the apk file. I moved the apk files to my internal SD card, then used a version of "Root Explorer" to launch the installer on these files. I get a message that says they weren't installed. No other helpful information as to why.
Is there some other method of getting these files to install?

Yes there is.
First you need to install the SDK.
Then plug your phone into your computer, enable USB debugging, open a command prompt on your computer, navigate to the folder where your apk resides and enter the following commands:
Code:
C:\Phone Hacking\Vibrant>adb root
restarting adbd as root
C:\Phone Hacking\Vibrant>adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/st19 /system
C:\Phone Hacking\Vibrant>adb push VoiceRecorder.apk /system/app/
C:\Phone Hacking\Vibrant>adb reboot
Okay, I think I got it. I installed the sdk and tried the whole adb thing, but it said I couldn't go into adb root on production builds, then it occurred to me that all you were trying to do was move the apk file into the /system/app folder which can only be accessed by root.
I already had Root Explorer, which I used to move the apk file and it worked. Thanks for posting the files and your help. I've been wondering what I could do with ADB. I messed around with the usb drivers for a while but ended up getting adb to work via the wirelessadb app that was included in the Onyx rom.
Learning something new everyday.
Thanks again.

The reason you got an error about adb not switching to root mode is that you are running a production kernel. You might consider changing to a custom kernel. You can run a rooted kernel along with your current rom.
I would suggest one of Eugene's custom kernels. I currently run A4 but there is a new A5 out that I will switch to later tonight.
If you can't figure out how to install it send me another message. I'll be glad to help.
Edit: Just updated to A5. Runs Great! Super fast awesomeness!

Try this, from Bionix final.Copy to root and use root explorer to copy to system/app.
This is my first week with rooting/flashing. My primary reason for going this route has been to get some froyo goodness and extend my battery life. I have been reading that the stock kernel is the best way to get the most battery life. What do the custom kernels get you? I've stayed away from the lag fixes as well for the same reason.
Thanks for being so helpful.

If your not rooted just flash the rom you are using again and all will be stock normal again If your rooted use root explorer and get the file you deleted from a custom rom and paste it back
I would go for the first option as its easier

[Q] Leomar / Cannot Install some apps from market.

Hi everyone,
I am on Revolution Rom from Leomar. Everything is great but i have one problem.
Coming from CM7 or Stock, i have no issue installing Astro File Mgr Pro from the Market.
On Leomar Rom, the Market tell me it is not compatible with my device. Same things happen with anothers apps.
I cannot explain why it is compatible with CM7 or Stock and why it doesn't work on Leomar. May be it is a known issue and i didn't find it on the xda forum.
I cannot post in the Leomar Thread because this is my first post.
If Leomar see my thread, i just want to thanks him and his team for the great jobs !
I am not thighted to Astro bu i want to understand
Best regards !

It does not work. On the smartphone i cannot find the app because it is not compatible.
Does Leomar's ROM come with Astro File Manager already installed? If so, you may need to remove it before you can install the Pro version.

No it doesn't. I manage to install the astro app but not the pro key. The pro key seems to be not compatible with gsII on this rom.
I do not understand why. Do i have to check with leomar or astro dev ?
Finally Leomar told me that is CSC related, and he is hardly working on. I will read further info on his thread.

[Q] accidently just delete my Default HTC weather software..

Just delete the com.htc.weather and the other things for weather that are all about the default "weather" for htc... And I cant find what Can i do... Can u help me ? (Sorry for my English..):good:
Thank u!
In future I highly recommend using Titanium Backup when deleting Android Apps from your phone or tablet because it's free and it gives you the ability to backup the App since once you delete it there is no chance of getting it back unless you can find the APK on the internet and with stock software that's very unlikely you could try contacting the manufacturer for the APK file but it's unlikely they will be able to give it to you so just use other weather software.
Which phone and which ROM do you use?
How did you delete the stuff? Usually these things should be protected.

Can I ask how you rooted your G500? I tried the Bin4ry method and it all seemed to work OK but when I run root explorer it says it does not have superuser rights!
How are you installing the Google apps stuff? Are you just putting the google play app on your device and installing it? I think you need a lot of other files as well especially the google framework.
When I get root I will give a few things a try - I think you might need something like the google apps pack from the cyanogenmod page - it is intended as an installable zip from recovery - but as we have no clockworkmod recovery we can't do this but I think you can copy it to your device and change a few file permissions.

Thanks for the info. HTC and Samsung brand their price always on the high side because of their brand name according to all suppliers.

Sure, HuaWei U8836D seems a really good smartphone.
Unfortunately, there is sooo few support for it: difficult root, no custom rom (besides eto's one)..... so I'm looking to Newman N1 and Zte V970 (cheaper and with good custom works), or maybe the more expensive Zopo zp300+...

A little unfair - the root (Bin4ry v10 version) is very quick and I would say easy. The phone has only been available for 2-3 weeks max so it will take a bit of time for the modding scene to get started. Although - as the ZTE V970 was out first then then people may stick there.
Does anyone have the scatter file for use with SP_Flash tool? I would really like to backup my entire ROM before I do anything!
Has anyone been sent and installed the eto ROM - is it installed with the flash tool?

First of all you have to flash the recovery, check Bruno's thread to access his 4shared folder and download his recovery. Then you have to follow his instructions to flash it (go to the "Flashing only part of the ROM" section).
When you are finished flashing, you have to access the ClockWorkMod recovery and go to "backup and restore" and do a backup. That will generate a backup of your ROM and save it to your SD card.
Thanks
