I'm having the same problem. Have you figured out what was causing the problems?

I'm not too sure, but being unable to detect the external sd card is a common issue amongst most aokp ROMs I've used.
As for your internal memory being used up, I had the same doubt and then realised it was mainly because of my backups. Each one was ~900Mb so that ate up most of my internal memory. Delete any redundant backups from the clockworkmod folder if thats your problem

Installing a secondary ROM takes up about 2GB of your internal memory, if that's what you're talking about. Anything more than that could be your backups..or something I'm not aware of.

Just to update my original post...
I appeared to lose my internal SD when I upgraded to CM9 RC2. Didn't bother me since I had external SD still.
When I updated to a CM10 nightly, I lost my external SD card as well.
The way that i fixed it was by going back to CM9 RC1. When I loaded that ROM the media scanner informed me that the SD cards were corrupt and reformatted it from me. After that I reinstalled CM10 and it recognises both
I had reformatted my ext. SD card using my computer before, but that hadn't fixed the problem. It would seem that my media scanner (in CM10) wasn't recognising the ext. SD or the internal and thus not reformatting it....
Not sure if this helps, I'm not as versed in the workings of android as many people are on here... What I did above fixed my problem though, so perhaps it might be of help to someone else.

Check out the thread for your rom. Some one else before you, has probably already asked about your problem and got an answer

MIUI problem - SD Card Safe to Remove

Hey all,
I was just wondering whether there is a fix for such error running on the latest MIUI build from their website. Whenever I turn on my phone, I would receive this message saying Preparing SD card, then it would jump into SD Card Safe to Remove. The phone cannot mount the SD card manually from Settings as the same thing will happen again. I am sure the memory card is not corrupt as both the internal SD card (16gb) and my external SD card (32gb) are both recognized in CWM recovery, although when selecting install from internal SDcard from recovery, it goes into the external.
Hope someone knows how to resolve this issue!
Thanks,
Nicholas

If you got the rom from their site then your best bet would be to ask on their site. No MIUI development is done here. Only translations

But just for other people, they released a fixed version of the ROM on the MIUI main site, not the MIUI.us site, that fixed my problem

Why is my GS2 seeing my SD card as internal & vce versa

Before I ever started flashing kernels or ROMs my GS2 sees my internal card as the SD Micro card and my SD Card as the internal card?? Anyone else have this or know why this is??
Example, just now I went into CWM to update my SHOstock ROM and had to choose internal card for it to see the update even though I put the update on the SD Card..
same thing happened to me yesterday when i flashed my gs2 for the first time. i thought at first i accidentally loaded the zip onto my internal sd accidentally but i double checked and it was definitely on the external sd.
That's just the way it works on Entropy's kernel. I believe it even says so in his thread.

Yup. Someone didn't read the Changelog.
Cyanogenmod labels their partitions differently than Samsung-derived ROMs (Samsungs don't follow the current Android standard).
Right now the CWM binary in Daily Driver is pulled straight from CM7, so I haven't had a chance to recompile and label the external SD as external instead of internal

No clue - turns out that what the OP was talking about was how CWM reports internal vs. external.

[Q] how to switch internal sd (currently sd card) back over to internal sd (emmc)????

how do i switch the interal sd card(emmc) to external sd card(sdcard) back to normal? currently its ext sdcard(emmc) and internal(sd card)...i believe thats the reason why my external files arent visible on my phone because my phones external sd card is emmc (took out my microsd and in cwm said cant mount emmc) and my internal sd is sd card aka ext sd. if that makes sense... is that better that way with the vibrant? is it rom related? i do know its been like that since i switched to miui. im running docs ics v12 now. is there a way to create a path to the ext card(mounted as emmc) on the sd card root path? so if my internal sd is set to be extsd it thinks its its saving on the extsd but isnt so it wont have a external sd path? and my external is set to be internal so i cant save anything on it with my phone though i wonder if when i flash a rom those files are saved to my ext.. so if i were to format my emmc (extsd) would that mess my phone. f-it im about to try it now lol.. formated, done, reboot... well i dont think it hurt anything and i know my extsd is completly wiped now but im still stuck with the problem on not being able to transer anything from my internal sd to extsd because there is no path for it in the file browser, i dont really want to go through the trouble of backing up my internal sd card, formatting that hoping it doest brick my phone like ive read b4, putting what files i want back on it, just to be stuck with same problem an hour later. seems like there are many post on this but ive yet to find an easy solution. i know someone has had to of come up with a fix for this... thanks
I'm running with internal sdcard only, but used to use external. Cyanogenmod handles both fine. I tried AOKP build 35 and had no sdcard, and tricks I tried with symlinks or mount -bind had no effect. So one fix is to find a good rom. There may be other ways around it.
I flashed aokp build 36 a few days ago and my internal and SD was switched too. I found this file posted by Mr. Physco and flashed my memory back to normal. I'll try to find link and repost

so does anyone know of a good ics ROM that supports both sd cards? Last ROM I used that supported both sd cards I think was bionix v. I guess it's really not that big of deal since I can stream my music with google music, but I would like to use the empty 16GB memory card I have in my phone for game data or movies. So Akop build 36 has a fix for that? I'll have to check it out, thanks

Try CM9. That one supported both my SD's (Galaxy Player 5.0). But, beware of directory changes. The external SD is now under "mnnt/emmc/".

sdcard disappeared in cm10, HELP please

Hi all, need help with my sdcard not appearing in cm10 ...
I was on the 0815 build and everything was working fine, then i wanted to mount a ntfs drive to my sgs2 via otg cable.. plugged it and got no response, so i thought it must be the fact that the usb is formated in ntfs format... a quick google got me to the app NTFS MOUNTER n i installed it..
After installing it, i notice i still cant access my ntfs usb and so i uninstalled the app.. then i saw that build 0820 is out, so i downloaded it, made cwm backup n installed it... the next morning i noticed tt in my jellybean, my external micro sd does not appear in my gallery or settings-storage.. but when i rebooted to Recovery i can still access the ext sdcard...
Tried to do recovery from a backup i made 0812 but i get the message: ERROR WHILE RESTORING /SYSTEM! message tried other cm10 backups n i keep getting the same message ...
Tried to do clean install (factory reset, install cm10 zip, install gapps, factory wipe) and i still cant access my external sd..
The only way i can my ext sd to work is to restore to my latest cm9 backup... it works just fine, but if i install cm10 afterwards (factory reset, install cm10 zip, install gapps, factory wipe), the ext sd remains invisible to my cm10, be it 0815 or 0820 build..
Tried googling it but cant seem to find any answer w regards to this.. can someone pls help..
Thanks you so very very much!
just download 0821 and give it a try.

If you are talking about normal FAT32 external SD /MicroSD card inserted in your phone, then it is mounted in:
/storage/sdcard1
just use a file manager to access it.
if you can find it there then it will be easier to to find your gallery files
hi all,
thank you for your replies.
But i think you got it wrong, it's not that the media files are not loading in GALLERY or that i cannot find my way in using file explorer apps, but the phone itself seems to not be mounting my sdcard...
Settings -> Storage will only show Internal Storage (1.97 GB) and Internal Storage (11.50 GB)
The Sdcard section is just blank... whileas if i restore to CM9, Sdcard exists (29.32GB) n is accessible from gallery or any file explorer...
HELP

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the help given to me so generously!
Finally figured out the problem...
Current SD card: CM9 can access, CM10 cannot
Tried another SD card: CM9 can access, CM10 can access
So apparently i found out that there was some corrupted data in the /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/gc./
with the directory containing 8 files which names contain gibberish ascii symbols and they were simply unerasable and the /gc./ directory itself was unerasable
Backed up the data in the sdcard and formated it and voila! Problem solved!!
Thanks again everyone!
So glad to be back at CM10 and to know that when CM10 is fully polished, i will have no problems using it...

hi, okay so i have almost the identical problem, i believe that i have corrupted files on my external drive (Patriot 16GB, FAT32) because i also have a clockwork mod backup, a data folder for titanium backup, the superuser zip and a LOST.DIR folder.
i would just delete everything or try to format it, but somehow the SD is now recognized as "read only" in any computer and my phone won't recognize it at all, even after trying "remount sd" apps on the phone. Suggestions? Im totally at a loss and dont have the money to spend on a new external.. thank you!! =]

unpartition internal SD card

Hello everyone. I bought my sgs2 pre-rooted and have always had the problem of what looks to be an internal SD card partition. I read thought the thread below as well as a few others that say unmounting/remounting the SD card should fix the problem, however, I am under the impression that is for the External SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640983
When I go to “Setting–>Storage” I have the following:
Internal Storage
Total Space 1.97 gb
Available 1.21 gb
Internal Storage
Total Space 11.36 gb
SD[Card
Total Space 14.83 gb
Anyone have any thoughts? I have plenty of space on my phone, however, it seems that everything I install is being put into that first Internal storage space. I need to get this internal "partition" removed to have the full amount of space (16gb) of internal storage.
ps: This was a fresh AOKP flash after clearing all data and factory setting twice before flashing.
I see nothing wrong here. You are supposed to have a 2gb partition for apps to install to. If you try and change that you are asking for problems.

So everything is Okay?? Whenever I go to camera (on AOKP's 8/30 JB) it says "SD card is running out of space". Also, I do not have that many apps installed, some apps won't be able to save data.

Stock ICS? as in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746181
I had this before and had same issues. I flashed to CM9/AOKP ICS and had same problem, but was able to save location where Camera saved images.
But you don't need more internal storage. That has nothing to do with your problem.
I would flash it back to stock gingerbread and see if you still have the same problem.

Also, Are there any extra steps needed to go from JB to GB? I have never flashed down from a newer version before.

Thanks Snipe. When I had ICS 7.3 aokp i was able to change that, but could not find a way to fix it in JB. One thing after the next I started getting paranoid that I fluxed something up... Thanks for the re-assurance. I may just wait until a newer build is out for AOKP.
Thanks for the help everyone, I apologize for spamming the forums. I have been avid reading these since I started flashing back in May, I guess everyone has to create a username eventually.
