Hi,
I picked up on something recently - it seems that if someone Whatsapps me then I get an SMS (or vice-versa) I only get the colour of the first notification I received. So for example, I have my light set to blue with Chomp SMS and green with Whatsapp and I would expect alternating green and blue pulses if I woke up to both; however I will only get blue if an SMS came through first or green for a Whatsapp. I've tried different messaging apps, including stock, to no avail. I've also tried an app called Light Manager which was supposedly designed for the S3 but this just confused my phone and seemed to stop both notification lights entirely.
I can't remember if this occurred before I installed Jellybean or if this is a side-effect because chiefly it is a query my girlfriend has with her new S3 and is not something that worries me too much. She wants to be able to glance at her phone at work and see what each notification is for. It was one of the primary selling points for her over the iPhone.
Can anyone tell me if they have this feature available to them on other firmwares or if they have found a way to make Whatsapp, Mail, SMS etc alternative on the device's LED rather than just sticking on the first colour that comes in?
Cheers folks.

I use Light Manager from market, you customize LED with diff colours for every new event. Etc sms, mms, gmail, missed call, whatsapp ++.
Im on stock ICS.

Download light flow from market. I've tested it out and it works great. I've counted about 10 colors our led can do with slight variations of each. Blue, cyan, purple, pink, red, green, yellow, orange, white, gold, and a few others.

I was able to get the LED colors to work at first, then they decided to stop and start showing just green. Haven't rebooted to see if that fixes it, but it looks promising. BerryBuzz was one of the only apps I missed from my BB days. Haha.
Yeah I reluctantly chose to let this atrix replace my n1 and absolutely hated not having my colors. Now if we can only get individual people's text colors back we are in business

works well here.
does this draw more battery than the standard *always* green notification light?
i download currentwidget but it dont work so i dunno
i wish there's an app that will allow capture of notifications too. so we can assign lights to different apps simliar to how we can do it back on cyanogen roms.
meh, its not constant. seemed to be working at first, but now it only showing system default LED color settings for everything. then, yesterday it decided to work for the color i set for text messages received, was blinking a sky blue color. but even after i cleared the notification and looked at the message.....the dumb light was still blinking. i like the different color but i dont see the point if its not consistent
I see various colors on mine. So far I've seen green, blue, purple, and red.
It's a good start. I haven't had any issues, the blink rate isn't always 100% consistent but it works for me for now. I haven't noticed any extra battery drain for using this.
easiest way to get colors on your led for texts is to download chomp sms or handcent sms. you can long press any contact's conversation and change the LED for that person from that point on. 100% works all the time for me and chompsms.
if you want to change gmail led from the default green you can do that with an app called gmail notifier. just be sure to disable notifications of the actual Gmail app or else you'll duplicates. same goes for replacing messaging app for chomp or handcent
it would be sweet if the notification color would flash multiple colors, kinda like a bb trackball

This app allows that. It flashes them in succession. Ex, R=email Bl=missed call Gr=txt. so if I had a txt and an email it would flash in succession gr, r, gr, r, etc.
Hello to all SGS 3 users...
Nice phone, fast, but battery is not good...
To the topic....
just a question that i post in omega SGS3 forum and i'm moving it to correct forum...
So is possible to change the sped rate of notification light(maybe 350ms)?
and is possible to make blinking red and blue light in fast way, so is easier to see ''
i would like to NOT use 3rd party apps...kernel support..

I don't know about blinking speed, but I have a connected question and perhaps you can help me. My LED is blinking either white, red, blue, green and I am not sure what every color means, I didn't manage to map notifications to certain LED color. I have facebook messenger, whatsapp, 2 email accounts, sms and don't know which color means what.
Also, is there a way to map a certain color to a certain notification?
thanks

Maybe are you using lightmanager.. some 3rd apps have more options, you can test it...

Hi there,
Has any of you have any luck changing the color (and/or blinking behavior) of the notification led (e.g. when an sms is received)?
On my CM7'ed Desire I had full control - e.g. from Go SMS - but with this Desire X I'm stuck with the default green blinking.
I just rooted and flashed Elegancia on today, hoping that would put me (or the apps, actually) in control, but no...
BR,
Egholm
I believe there are apps that will let you change your LED on your phone.
Sent from my GSM Galaxy Nexus
Only two colors on Desire X if I remember correctly.
Why would you want to change the colour. Maybe i am missing something .:cyclops:Green seems ok and orange when charging is also ok.
hi
Missed call or SMS -LED flashes only 5min.This is the problem.
ORA1: It's annoying that when I leave the phone at home, and a notification-event occurs that I don't hear, I cannot see from the LED which event happened (remember I didn't hear, I just glance at the phone every and so often when I pass it). Then it's super nice to be able to see if it is a missed call, an SMS, an email, and so and so forth.
Also, the standard blinking behavior - blinking briefly every 1-1.5 seconds - is silly. It requires starring at the phone for a second to judge if an event is there. A constant LED is much nicer.
That's why
Klapo, yeah, but mixing the red with the green, you get an orange So, three colors, and if I could control the blinking, that's infinite combinations ;P
Obj261, after trying different apps, I stumbled over "Light Flow 3.5.2 (lite)". Its the only one that I've seen being able to control the LED succesfully. But obviously I'm too stupid to make it work (consistently) beyond the "testing capabilities" from within the app
I hoped that others have had this need, as well :/
I would just want to know if it's RGB or just green/orange.
I would love to control it via LightFlow but the hardware must support it first.
katman4, it's only green, orange and red.
(But still I haven't found the magic setting in lightflow that makes it work consistently, so be aware of that)
Now someone can design an app that when you have a notification of any sort the whole screen flashes in a colour.
Cant be too difficult for one of the boffins to design:good::good::good::good::victory::victory:
Hi folks,
Is there any way to get decent notifications for messages on the Xperia Z2?
I'm used to old nokias and iphones. If I get a message it plays a sound (if the sound is on) and notifies me on screen. I don't need to turn on and unlock my phone to check if I have a missed message or a missed call.
So far on the Z2 I can just set the vibrate and tone, which is fine if I'm near the phone when I get the message, but if I'm not then I probably won't see it until I unlock the phone to do something, which could be hours later.
Can you set the Z2 to flash the led when there are missed calls/messages, or display something on the screen?
Usability-wise this is right up there with the motorola startac 130, which in my mind is still the most user unfriendly phone in the world.
If this can be done without a root/unlock it would be even better!
you have to activate the LED in setting -> display -> last line (as I can remember)
Try Frozen LED, a free app that let's you control the led notifications.
It let's you set colours and flashing speed for different apps.
Even better is you can set them by name. For example if my wife texts, messages or emails me the led flashes purple 4 times a second. Easy to spot.
I just recently updated to Pie on my Honor 8x - all stock JSN-L23.
What I have noticed is the LED no longer flashes green when getting Hangouts messages. SMS works fine for Google's Messaging app as well as Gmail. I also installed Spark and it also does not show LED light when I get a message. Anyone else experiencing this or is this completely isolated?
Thanks.
Here, the LED isn't working for any app except calls and sms in 8.1 and since I bought the phone.
The settings are set to use the light and vibration, but they won't go on. For example Twitter notifications never have sound, vibration and led, I checked and unchecked the settings one hundred times.

I wasn't experiencing any issue with led blinking until Pie. On Oreo, every single notification caused it to blink green. Now on Pie, only a couple apps work. Hangouts being one that doesn't anymore which is a real pain.
I tried using a third party app and it worked kind of but the blinking seems a little erratic and not as smooth.
Noticed that turning screen on when receiving notifications was also removed - at least I cannot see the setting anywhere .
