google play force close everytime - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i won't be posting if i found the solution believe me. ok i have a samsung galaxy gio GT-S5660M Android version 2.3.4 build number GINGERBREAD.MUGKG3 (Stock rom gingerbread ) but it is rooted. ok so i was trying to free up some space on my internal memory and i was using titanium back up and i converted google play to a user app (it took too long so i assumed it didn't work) but i backup the google play. i was able to move it to sd card thought ,but then i still don't have enought free memory to receive text msg (20mb needed) so i did a factory reset which freed up everything. and i was still rooted ( i fixed it) but now google play won't open it gives me this message (process com, android, vending) so i downloaded a new com.android.vending but still won't work i tried the clear data it will open and i can search but whenever i try to download it will force close (i know you can download app to your pc and install it from sd but it would be more convenient to do it on your phone please help if you can and thank you for reading i know it's quite long

I had some issues with Google play earlier, but it was trying to put a modded market on it. As far as I know, Google play must stay as a system app, out else it will not work.
I would suggest trying to move it back to being a system app. I use a free app from Google play called /system/app mover.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover
It can tell you if it is installed as a system app or not. If not, move it back to system and then reboot and see if that helps.

Hi there,
If ever you encounter this FC/not dowloading apps for Playstore/Market again, this might help, it might also be the cause of new partition or something like that, you can try this option freely..
1. check if cache folder has "download" folder inside it, if it no download folder then create one inside /cache, e.g. mkdir /cache/download.
2. then chmod the /cache folder to 777, also make sure the com.android.vending folder is present inside /data/data/ folder.
3. You can achive it through shell terminal.
Hope this helps you next time if ever, just ever , fixing the FC(Force close or not downloading apps on playstore or market).
Thanks

Error downloading apps

I have been having this problem for quite sometime now. I have a Galaxy S Plus running on Android Gingerbread. Whenever I`m trying to download any apps I always get this error:
Update for "App Name"/ could not be downloaded due to an error. (905)
I have googled this problem and found out that I should just clear the cache of Google Play and the data of the Download Manager. I did this and it worked for a while however the problem keeps on coming back. I am already tired of repeating the steps over and over again. Now it`s gone worse, I cannot download anything. The same error keeps on coming up even if I already cleared the cache and data.
I believe I have sufficient space on my phone (phone, USB storage and SD card). Please help me out with my problem! THANK YOU.
its something about your /datadata being low on space.

Uninstall the updates
It seems the error occurs due to the misconfiguration of app settings. You can uninstall the updates, and reboot the phone and your problem will be solved. Source: http://technogiga.com/how-to-solve-error-905-in-android/
just uninstall the google play store update and play services updates :good:

Insufficient Storage Available AOKP

I got the Insufficient Storage Available error when I install new apps from Google Play, I can't even install apk, so I think this is not Google Play problem. I have plenty of space life. Running the latest AOKP. Anyone having this problem?
I'm guessing this didn't work?
Try this.
It also happens when you have the app still in the data/apps folder yet it's already uninstalled. Go to your data/apps folder with Root Explorer and check if the .apk is still there. If it is, delete it.

Thanks for your advice, I used mini tool partition from my computer, but when I checked in my phone's storage, still wasn't shown the ext4 partition that i did with minitool, so just tried with cwm partition (1GB Ext and 0MP swap) and it worked! But before I try this one I downloaded link2sd from play store! That's it! Now my internal memory is 0.94GB, wow...before it was only 120MP!

The app didn't work. It runs ok, but has no effect in solving this issue... at least on my case: Galaxy S2 running Cyanogen 9 final release. I also had this issue from time to time with the RC1 of CM9, but it always disappeared without me doing nothing (the problem only happened back then when updating apps from Google Play).

Meanwhile, just my 50 cents, I think this problem is related with the Lucky Patcher... Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe not..,

Flash a custom rom or use the full recovery rom.
Sorry for late reply

This is actually a known issue. Standard fix is to clear data for Google Services framework, and Google play store. Then reboot your device. (If you don't reboot, you'll probably get the hated 'unable to connect' error until you do (reboot, that is)).
If you don't know how to clear data for an app go to settings -> apps -> running ('all' on CM9) -> [name of app] .
Thanks for your help dstarfire, but I already tried this and the problem comes again after a few hours.

You could try reinstalling google play: from that same screen where you clear data, tap the 'uninstall updates' button, reboot, and launch google play (wait a minute or two after the home screen appears to let it finish it's startup tasks).
Also, you could try clearing the dalvik cahce, if you have a recovery rom installed, or access to a command prompt (either through terminal emulator, or a pc with adb installed). The first reboot after you do this will take a lot longer than usual (a few minutes more, nothing too bad)
Finally, if you've made any system tweaks, (through a tweaking app) try reversing those one by one to see if one of those might be the culprit.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to start keeping track of what you're doing, and what apps are running when it stops behaving. Maybe an app or other activity is interfering with google play.
Maybe you don't have the correct date/time? That happened to me before. Hopefully the fix is that easy for you.
My phone also hav prob with the play store!! it jus open and close immediately but my downloads and download manager is enabled at the application manager, Help me please urgent !!!

I think you installed the APK for Play Store rather than having flashed a GApps .ZIP. Try flashing Mini Modular GApps on the recovery screen.

Is it possible to delete Google Hangouts from phone?

Is it possible to delete Google Hangouts from my phone completely?
I don't use it, nor will I ever use it, so why does it have to be on my phone? I am so sick of having it pop up in Play Store reminding me to update it, when I don't even use it. I would rather it be deleted from my phone so I will never be prompted to update it again. The saddest part is they must know what a complete dud this app is as they've removed the uninstall tab on the play store page (well for me its removed and I can't uninstall it from the play store) but they sure as hell like to remind me the bloody thing needs updating ...
Could someone please advice the best method to rid my phone of this nuisance.
Thx
You can uninstall it with titanium back up as long as you are rooted but I'd freeze it first to be safe. Don't think you can uninstall it without root
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
with root you can uninstall it via rootexplorer or search here for aromafile manager, with this you can delete it in recovery, just flash aromafile man zip in cwm and go to system/apps and delete it,exit filemanager and reboot, done.
I've searched for google hangouts via rootexplorer and titanium and its not listed. Is it installed under a different name?
Thx

Can't install APK files outside of Play Store?

I recently upgraded from an Android 7 phone (Moto G5) to an Android 9 phone (Moto G7). I like to back up all of my apps that I plan on using in the future, using a backup app like ML Manager, and installing them locally with a file browser, like FX. On my new phone, there are some APK backups that I can't install from a file browser; even if I actually download them though the Google Play Store, back them up, uninstall them, and then try to install that backup on the same phone, it won't work. Not every app does this, and at first, I thought it was only paid apps that were giving me problems, so I chalked it up to DRM, but a bunch of free apps won't work, either.
I've tried alternate methods of installation, too, like using a terminal emulator (see the screenshot, using the app Manual Camera as an example), and ADB on a PC, which results in an INSTALL_FAILED_VERIFICATION_FAILURE error. I've searched for this error and followed directions, like disabling Play Protect (which I never enabled on this phone, anyway), but nothing works. Is this just how Android is now? Did something change so that it's harder to install backups? I tried all of this on my wife's phone, too, which also runs Android 9, and I got the same errors. Any help would be appreciated, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

Some apps are different for noghat and pie Android
So there is no grantee that you can install all APK that you backed up on noghat for pie
Download them from Google
It should completely work
Make sure that you have free space on internal storage and when you wanna download them make sure that download arm/arm64 version

Yeah, downloading from the Play Store definitely works, I'm just curious as to why backing up an app downloaded from the Play Store won't install from the APK *on the exact same device.* I'm a stickler for keeping local backups of everything, but I'm more curious than anything at this point.

Well there is a another reason
That is some app install with APK
And other one install with APKS
which you should install them with SAI and have two or three file to install (even more)
And when you backup from apks apps it doesn't backup all files to install it again
But at play store it install automatically
