I want to install custom ROM by WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread V4.0.0. I have downloaded and copied the .zip file to my SD card. i rebooted in x-recovery, but when i update the custom.zip, it give me a error

I think that maybe this is caused if you are not using the latest version of x-recovery. Wolf wrote about it at the the start of the thread under the installation instructions. You could try that. Someone else here might be able to advise you better...
Hi,
correct you need a GB ready xRec version. There is an update for the FlashTool which contain this new version.

I already have the latest version of xrecovery 0.3, but still i am getting the same error.
I checked in some of the forums and I heard that we cannot install a custom ROM with rooted android 2.3.3. we need to flash android 2.1 and install this custom ROM which has got the latest kernel and baseband .71. Is that true, can anyone confirm it ?

I recommend flashing back to 2.1, extra step but it's worth it having the clean install.
What I did:
Flash 2.1 in Flashtool
Root 2.1 in Flashtool
Install Xrecovery in Flashtool
Reboot in Xrecovery
Factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Wipe battery stats
Flash GB ROM
Do NOT reboot, remove battery to reset phone
Flash BB .71 in Flashtool
Reboot and ur good to go!
I haven't had any problems since I switched back to WB's new version

I would go with this also if you are having problems. You can get the stock 2.1 ROM if you need it by searching for the Flashtool. The stock ROMs are on the same post (I cant add links here, sorry!).
I'm also on V4 of Wolfbreak ROM and it's the best one i've used so far!

[Q] Flash kernel error

I flashed Doomlord kernel for locked bootloader by xrecovery but have an error: "failure at line 1: copy_dir package: system system: installation aborted" How can i fix it? Help me. Many thanks.
Try rebooting anyway, Doom said it should work.
I tried many time but it's the same. last time, i flash TW v6c (custom rom) it doesnt work to, i think the same error. How should i do to fix it now?
check in xrec there's and option Partition tools in that check whether the first option is Mount System.. if its the try changing and flashing it !! else if its the other way i.e unmount system then jus change it and flash!!
hope it works !!
Hic, it still doesnt work, but i see that after i flash (it still error), the Mount system change to Unmount System. Help me plz.
whats not working exactly.. like now u can flash the package or not ??
I get the same error: "failure at line 1: copy_dir package: system system: installation aborted" when i do what u said. I reboot, it only stop at bootanimation. Then, i tried to flash ewJet kernel it "failure at line 6" but i still start normal with wifi error .
Help me, plz!!!
Do one thing then flash the rooted firmware for x10i I mean the generic one ...then freshly install ericks Rom and flash kernel ..might help u
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
OMG, i installed ewjet rom, but it stop at bootanimation and reboot. I tried 2-3 times, but it's the same.
afte installing EWjet how much time did u wait until it restarted ???
i wait until it reboot again, 2-3times, then i must leave it to flash other rom. only custom rom have custom kernel i have that error (i think so) because i flashed Dix, aniking, th2 v7, TEAM
no not necessarily that custom Rom have custom kernels!! u can try others too!
and which kernel of Doomlord ru using "Unlocked or Locked " Bootloader ??
My phone's locked Bootloader so i use DoomKernel for locked bootloader v.4b.
did u install the kernel before goin for the ROM ??

[Q] Amend script & Overclocked Kernel

Hi everybody,
Amend Script Problem :
I'm a bit confused about Amend Script, my Xperia x10i is unlocked, i got the Oodie CM7, I've flashed it to change roms many times now ! Today i wanted to change the rom, but i can't because of these script (Amend Script is no longer supported...) I don't know why i've got it, i didn't do anything more than before.
I found many thing about that, a little program to convert to Amend Script, i try it, my recovery said 'Update Complete', but the rom was the same... No change. I also saw many weird things that i didn't understand..
So, what is the best way (with details please ) to restore my phone as before ?
Overclocked Kernel Problem :
I've got another problem about Overcloked Kernel, i can't flash them. When i do it my phone stay at kernel Screen then reboot then stay at kernel Screen etc...
Do you have an idea about that ?
So thanks you, and sorry, my english sucks

Are you using cwm recovery? If so use xrecovery (from flashtool). Also not all phones support overclock (my device may be better than one other but worse than another still). It all depends on tolerances on chipset.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I use xrecovery !
For the overclock maybe it's because I got one of the first X10 !
I just put my phone at original rom and root it again, then i reinstall recovery.
Same thing I can't do anything...
Someone got an idea ?
If you are bootloader-unlocked just flash a stock rom kernel (doomkernel/th-kernel)then you would access to xRecovery.
I can access to xrecovery but i can't flash because of amend script ! (cf first post)
Okay ! So, i found a solution this morning. The problem was the version of the recovery put with the latest Doom Kernel.
I'll share my procedure for all having this problem.
1- Put the Sony Stock Rom 2.3 with Pc companion.
2- Root your phone.
3- Install the 0.3 Recovery via Flashtool.
4- Before installing any rom don't flash the kernel. Keep the stock Kernel.
5- You should be able to flash your rom now, do anything you want but install everything (rom, patch, gapps...).
6- After all of that flash your kernel.
7- Now you have your rom, maybe without Wifi, but you can fix by flashing in the recovery (no need amend script for that).
I hope it can help some of you

You can always just change your kernel from flashtool then flash an other rom. No need in going to pc companion.

[Q] Boot problem when installing Smultronic 5.0 on Xperia Mini

Hey guys,
actually I didn't want to create a thread for this as I thought I might resolve it myself or that I'll find the answer elsewhere.. But after 5 attempts with each different methods, I don't know what to try anymore.
I have the Xperia MIni (st15) and I want to try the Smultronic ROM. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796272). My attempts looked like this:
I flashed the ICS .587 stock ROM via Flashtool to get a clean thing to start with (including full wipe)
I root by flashing the .562 kernel, run the Doomlord script to gain root access and reflash the .587 stock kernel
I install CWM (xparts or cwm-install script, both works and doesn't make any difference)
I choose the smultronic 5.0 ".zip" in CWM (no wipe) and follow the instructions in Aroma installer. (Unlocked Bootloader chosen, as I have one).
The installation finishes successfully after a few seconds (!) and I am proposed to reboot.
The result of this is that my phone will get stuck at the SONY screen (>20 min.), which up to my knowledge means that there is no boot process for a ROM, just the bootloader showing it is alive.
I tried a bunch of things, like starting from a "used" stock ROM, fully wipe the system (+Dalvik) before starting the installation or choosing another Recovery installation method. No problem to recover any stock rom, but Smultronic still don't want to start when I try the above again.
I really feel a bit stupid, as this ROM is actually made for my particular device, and I don't manage to install it. Anyone finds the error?
Thanks a lot.

If your bootloader is unlocked, why are you using xparts to install cwm instead of a custom kernel?
To your problem, boot in cwm, do the wipe data/factory reset, install the rom, reboot and see what happens. If it's not working, flash another custom kernel or download an older version of the rom...

Error Status 7

I have SGP311 4.2.2 stock rooted with this kernel and regularly I am trying to install varius custom ROMS but I am always getting Error Status 7 and flashing stops. The only way to overcome this issue is to install first the boot.img from the ROM that I am going to install and then through the Recovery of the new boot.img I can install the custom ROM without errors.
I know this is not a normal behaviour and I am trying to figure out what's wrong. I tried to edit updater-script by removing all the getprop lines but then I got the same error when the set_perm command is executed.
Could you help me ?
Thanks!
i had the same issue

i had the same issue while i was flashing cyanogen mod 10.1.3 , any ways i kept trying, i still recieved an error
afterwards i tried to download the rom again and then i placed it into my internal sd storage, after soo many tries, i finally got it working
maybe its the issue with your zip file, try downloading it again, place it into your internal storage, not external, then flash it

Hi and thank you for the reply.
I tried to install from the internal flash though I didn't believe that the result would be different and I had the message (set_perm Error Status 7). It's very strange that no other users mentiong this problem. I am thinking maybe it's something with my stock ROM or some other setting.

i think you have mentioned that you flashed the boot.img before you tried flashing the rom, i would recommend to flash the right boot.img again from the rom, this is the most common issue when u get status 7 error,
other wise, backup all of your important data, return to stock by using flash tool / factory data reset, root again and then flash the boot.img and then flash the rom
thats what i do when im desperate for the rom
