No, I'm not using a AT&T; you guys just don't have the TMobile one on your site so I posted here.
Is there anyway I can root without a USB or using odin? Please, I'm new to Androids. I could do all of this so easily with Apple lol.
I have a 4GB SD, with an adapter. I've been up ALL night trying to figure this out.
I'm using a T-Mobile T989 Samsung Galaxy S2.

The OP ask a legitimate question imho about the GS3 in a forum that is the predecessor to the GS3 where people are genuinely interested in this device. Correct us both if we are wrong then. Where or how should he have asked the question? Thanks in advance. BTW, this is not sarcastic in anyway but a legitimate question.

I don't have to be a moderator to want to spread knowledge of the rules, threads like these are constantly getting closed because they don't have anything to do with us. Being the predecessor doesn't mean we should have a whole bunch of s3 stuff on our forums. Imo the one with the video is enough.

The reason I started this thread served a dual purpose.
I wanted to inform people with an sgs2 that the forum for the sgs3 is now available, and I needed assistance in getting it to show up in the app.
The first reason, not really being obvious, yet still succeeding. May have caused some of the criticism about this thread.
I would like to address the real problem with this thread that has legitimate reason for criticism yet no one caught it, no it wasn't intentional. I apologize for posting a question in general. I do not apologize for creating this thread but for where I created it.

I didnt think model is THAT important i thought the phone in general shared the same qualities :silly: it's with telus though so maybe it's not this phone model i just assumed they shared the same qualities across the chart

What it really boils down to is the same thing that happened in world of war craft. Lol i know it's strange to compare the two. But... What happened was you had two kinds of gamers. One kind was hard core and played every day. The other was casual and only played once in a while. So what blizzard did was dumb down the game to the point that a mentally handicapped monkey could level up and play it. To relate it to xda and other forums of the same nature, because the popularity of rooting and flashing custom roms has become more and more prevalent, more and more people are flooding in here. Some of us have been here a while and surf the forums daily, and so we have a very good grasp on what's going on. Others are new and they don't want to learn all that we know, they just want the answer to their question. So instead of doing the research we all had to do, they just post a new thread and ask their question. What people need to understand however, is that this site wasn't made to just give answers out. It was made originally for development and later bunches of users joined up and now it's a large community. But the basics are still the same. If u want to modify your phone /device, that's awesome. But also understand u have an obligation to yourself and this community to educate yourself. I wish everyone the best. Good luck and happy flashing.

If I can add something here and possibky you can add it to your op.
1. Please turn off phone.
2. Remove battery cover
3. Remove battery
4. Look at sticker under battery and look for MODEL NUMBER
5. Verify you have a i777 for the model number
6. IF you have a i727 then please do a search for the correct forum using Google Search Engine
7. IF you show ANY OTHER model number then please see instructions from #6 above.
8. This way the i777 Galaxy S2 forum does not continue to get cluttered with useless post for phones that DO NOT BELONG in this forum
9. Also this will make it easier for us to help aid you in your issue IF IN FAXT YOU HAVE A i777 Galaxy S2

I REALLY dont understand why it seems to go in swarms with the skyrocket people that DONT KNOW what phone they have or that there are quite a few different models of galaxy s2s. from the sound of it its his phone now. Read carefully. Also download samsung kies. Plug phone to computer and check for updates. you should be able to update to ics. Whats worse than spoon feeding personally is someone who goes out their way just to say something that does in no way help the person. If its been stated once by a member there is no need for 10 more people to say the same thing. Just like or thank the first person so the op knows its important info.

Well he is a tech noob and didn't know that factory reset will end most force close issues, so he thought it was garbage and he gave it to me..so i just reset it and now its fully functional
