Sms coming in in batches - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I hate asking questions but i havent read up on this problem..
So every night for who knows how long now my text will all come in at once.
Calls arent coming thru but other person can hear the ring over and over and it doesnt ring on my end.
Calls and text will come in after i make a phone call.
my text are recieved but i dont recieve anything..
Its not Att because a lot more people would experience this..
All i can think of is swapping modems and see how it goes..
any other ideas anyome might have??
TIA

What ROM are you on? Last night I had an issue with cm10 905 nightly and got 3 texts after midnight all at same time, 1 from my mom so I know they were likely from the afternoon.
Might have to try another ROM if it continues to be an issue. This was on cm10 905 with uclf6 modem.

There are two things that might be going on there. I have heard similar complaints associated with cm10 based roms, if that's the case reflash is probably the best option aside from trying different modems.
That is also a common carrier issue, i have worked for both rogers and bell, most carriers use the same crm, when a customer service rep adds or removes a feature (voicemail or a text package) or changes your overall price plan some times the system gets... backed up at the switch, not really sure how to properly explain that situation, but technical support is usually well aware of how to reset your account. Its a common problem which is not necessarily shared by everyone on the network.
Just something to think about.

It sounds like a network/carrier/weather problem, especially with others mentioning similar issues. If it doesn't clear up within a day, then its time to look at the phone.

Thank you all for the replies
I'm on CM10/LiquidSmooth ROM
CLF6 modem
Its happened on CM9 and stock ROMs as well
It happens more often after some one goes over the data limit or something else is charged to the bill....
It might be ATT after all.... just kinda bugged by it since it happens A LOT even with out any changes being made to the bill/data plan
I'll test out with different modems to see if problem persists if not then im done with ATT

I think the FL6 modem is pretty good. But its worth the time experimenting. After you flash, give it a little time to settle in.

i'm curious what is worse with the missed call bug.
I am talking about when people call, are phones don't even ring or show a missed call.
I have a new job that is a on call job and 3 times already within 5 days my phone didn't ring when i was called. and as anyone can expect that doesnt look good to the employer
I will be replacing my fascinate soon with a bionic but until friday i must try to make this work if anyone can point me in the direction for the rom that this bug doesnt affect as bad. thanks.

I too have a job that requires me to be on-call so I fully understand the importance of your question.
I had the missed call bugs a handful of times back before the ed05 over the air update was released but have not had a single problem, that I know of, since then. I am currently running AOKP M4 rom with glitch kernel and the eh03 radio.
So, what rom are you currently using?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA
Sry for taking long for a reply been in the mountains with no signal working. But I'm on stock eh03 with root and kgb kernel.
I generally don't care for aosp on the fascinate due too data drop a lot but if it isn't as effected by the missed call bug ill use it.

[Q] What hardware version?

What hardware version do you have? What versions are currently being sold by Sprint? Any problems with yours?
Most are going to be 003.
I have 003, no hardware issues/defects.

3 here also. So far no problems. Waiting for a little bit to root though. I want to make sure no defects and some more roms to come out. Hopefully some MIUI V4. Still trying to decide on a case.

003 with no problems as well.
Where are all those people who were complaining about everything?
By the way, as for a case, I highly recommend the Androidify case by CruzerLite. Awesome price for a minimalistic case that is made perfectly!

I'm one of those people. I'm on my second 0003, my data speeds are still horrible, my phone has asked me 4-5 times today to set my time zone, and I still periodically get a roaming warning when trying to make calls from my house even though I have an Airave. I'm sticking with it though, I just hope my issues get resolved after and update or 2. Those issues are annoying but this phone is too good in every other way for me to let it go.

Data speeds bad? I am used to that, I'm a longtime Sprint customer, haha.
Turn off the automatic time zone under settings-->time and date. It stops the problem immediately. I had the same issue. No biggie now.
Turn off the roaming warning since I'm sure it doesn't deter you from placing your calls. Settings -->Mobile Network--> Roaming Guards. I did this as well because it irritated me.
These fixes work until and update arrives!

3, no problems here either.
Well for a short while it stopped updating my statusbar time ... but it seems to be working again. Probably since I dumped a bunch of apps.
I believe Revision 3 is going to be the default US version.

Anybody else notice that when it roams and asks you to set the timezone, that the central timezone uses Central America time rather Central Daylight Time as an option? You can go into the time settings as mentioned by PsiPhiDan to set it correctly, but things will be messed up for half the year if you use the default menu popout selections. Not sure if this is an ICS or Sense thing.
Hardware version 3 here.
No problems other than time zone glitch in the matrix.

Don't know what it was but there must have been something specific that caused that. I had that time zone thing several times that one day but I haven't seen it since. Just as with just about everything, the software on this phone seems a bit buggy. I'm sure they'll get it ironed out soon. I could say that I wish they'd get all the bugs worked out before release but that would delay my precious.

mobile data issues CM9/AOKP

Hey all,
I'm having weird issues with mobile data while on AOKP or CM9. On custom or stock roms however, I don't have these issues. When I'm on cm9 or aokp I lose mobile data after leaving wifi. I mean, I don't lose the H or 3g, it gets it quickly after leaving wifi, it's just that it never turns blue (synced with google) or get any network connection unless I go to mobile settings, APN, and edit (actually, I don't have to edit anything) just save, and voilá! mobile data is back.
It's a pita to do this everytime.
Don't know if it counts, but I live outside the US, in south america. My carrier is compatible with at&t frequencies so the problem is not that, it's something different about those ROMs that is not the same on stock roms.
I definitely love AOKP/CM9, so I need to fix this somehow
Can anyone help me with this?
Same issue
I have an AT&T GS3 (I747) and with the AOKP ROM I have the same issue. My data is seems to disappear when it wants to. From reading different forums I am assuming it has something to do with the WIFI being on. It comes back after I mess with the settings or reboot several times but it is quite annoying. I love AOKP and don't really fancy any other ROMs. Is there any known fix for this issue? If not I am going back to my stock ROM or Jedi Invasion till it's fixed. I don't feel like paying AT&T for nothing lol. I found this on XDA but I don't know if it'll fix it or make the situation worse

Also I have a few apps like voice search in Google now that never respond even after reboots. Not as a big of a deal but any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. I am new to the whole android/root community.

Multiple texts

I was hoping that someone could help me with a very annoying problem I'm having. I'm getting texts multiple times throughtout the next few hours. Whenever I get a text, I can read it/respond/etc and it's fine. The problem arises an hour or so later in that I keep getting the same texts over and over and over. Best example is a text from my wife this morning at 8:22, I've gotten 8 times and it's only 11:32 now. Please can someone help me. Thanks for those that try.
Are you using a custom ROM? I know this is a known issues for a lot of CM builds.

I am actually. I'm using Miui.us. Could it have anything to do with the Sprint network and the huge east coast storm?
No it has nothing to do with storms, just annoying is all.
I believe you have to clear data in settings, applications for messenger, (backup using SMS backup and restore first) or clear cache in recovery (backup as well, obviously)

Thanks for the replay Slayer. I'll keep that in mind but for now it seems to have stopped on its own. So I guess I'll make a note of what you said in case it does it again. Thanks again for everyones time.
My bet is its just Sprint being Sprint. My Photon had that issue BAD when it was stock for first week or two. COMPLETELY untouched. Still have it do it from time to time, no matter what ROM im on, cm7/9/10, CNA, AOKP. Usually happened/happens when was in low service areas. Just my 2 cents, if clearing cache and whatnot helps for you then good its worth a shot but none of that ever did anything for me.
That is most likely a network issue. I used to work at Sprint and we would see it sometime. That is also the reason is usually just stops.

GSM/CDMA... Not even sure what to put on the subject line.

So I just wanted to share something really weird and ask if anyone has ever seen anything like it before.
I recently flashed the last AOKP update, and my phone was running phenomenally. I went out last night and my battery died because I forgot to charge it... No biggie. Got home, turned it on, no signal. Odd, since I have pretty decent service in the area. After doing the usual troubleshooting of cycling airplane mode, I tried pulling the battery and sim. That also didn't work. I went into settings to check my APNs, and instead of the usual menu, I saw only 4 options. The option to select APNs wasn't even there. The last one said "Set CDMA..." something. I forget the rest. Wish I had remembered to take a screenshot. In "About Phone", my baseband was blank. Tried reflashing back to LC5 radio. Still nothing. Did a full wipe and reflash of the ROM, and that got me back in business. Right now, all is well. I was just unaware that a phone could magically switch over to CDMA, even if there is no CDMA radio in an i777.
Any thoughts on the cause?
EDIT:
ROM: Task's AOKP 4.14
Kernel: Stock
Radio: UCLL6 when issue started. Now on UCPLC5
Not an issue that's related to the rom, as far as I know. Unless others have reported this issue and I've missed it. If you do a full wipe and re flash as you've done and don't install any programs for a good 24 to 48 hours, and nothing of the sort happens again, odds are it has something to do with an app you installed. Unless your service provider maybe was experiencing problems at the time.

No, definitely an anomaly. Not something that anyone else has reported. I called AT&T to verify if there were any issues in the area or with my account, and everything checked out. I haven't downloaded a new application in months. I restored from TiBu right after reflashing and everything is still good. Like I said, not trying to report it or anything; just looking for thoughts.
You meant APN and baseband NEVER come to live? If that's the case, then I haven't heard or read any report about it.
If it's up and running like normal AFTER 5 minutes, then it's has been reported many many times last week.

No... More like APN and baseband were completely fine for almost a week, and then it suddenly stopped working while I was asleep.

Reflash with clean installtion?
I know none of us want to factory reset but some cases, we have to.
This is odd but in no way, shape, or form can a i777 transform its hardware to support CDMA

This is what I thought. I have a feeling that since AOKP is based of CM, there is code built in to support both CDMA and GSM. Somehow, the software glitched, and made the switch.
