1)should be on a stock rom (GB or ICS) pertained to ur region.
2) u must be unrooted for sure.
3) ur binary count should be Zero (0) , and u should remove the Triangle by using 'triangle away'app.
with all the above done, u can send to repair without any issue for sure

1. Sun90, already said it in his point no 3. Use triangle away app, to reset binary counter: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
2. Then download the firmware for your country here: www.sammobile.com/firmware/
3. Flash the firmware via Odin.
4. Your phone will be back to unrooted stock firmware.

You've mentioned that you've flashed various roms... Did they include different kernels? Before sending it for reparation, you could always try a different kernel. Perhaps your mom's wifi problem is kernel related. I'm not saying this the solution, but in my humble opinion it's worth a try before proceeding with the steps above.

[Q] Some questions about CSC

Hello xda-developers this it my first post, but it will be more and I will try to help you.
I have a SGS2, bought from Romania, but the CSC code is "XEF" which probably means that it was imported form France. Now I want to change my CSC in "HAT" or "COA" according to my country but I don't want to lose my warranty.
1) There is any method to do this?
2) If I will find the CSC files, flashing only this with Odin is possible and if yes I lose my warranty? I only flashed AIO or PDA,CSC,BOOT files in the mean time on my second phone,Samsung i5700, but never only one of those.
I tried with CSC Selector from Play and with Preconfig code, but my phone have no Multi-CSC, it have only "XEF".
My SGS2 informations:
PDA: I9100XWKJ2
PHONE: I9100XXKJ4
CSC I9100XEFKJ1
Thank you very much for your answers and sorry for my bad English
no need to change it unless you need something specific in that csc.
I want to upgrade to ICS via Kies, but in Romania the update exists and in France it doesn't... That's why I want this

Just flash XWLP8 Frankenstein with Odin. Kies is a complete piece of crap. Uninstall it right now and just leave the samsung usb drivers.
The aforementioned package already includes everything you need... and it's official... and it's newer than the package you are planning to flash ; )
@bala_gamer: I will look forward CSC files and just flash them with Odin... But is it possibile? My device is not rooted...
@victorator: Doing this I will lose my warranty...Am I right?

Go into settings->about phone and write down what you have now.
Worst case IF you ever really need to get warranty just flash this package...
End of story. The link I gave you gives you the newest official ICS rom, non-rooted. It doesn't increase the custom binary counter (that's how they check if you messed with your phone) and it is official. Just flash it.
Ok, I didn't know that I can put the phone into download mode and flash a new firmware without increase the counter, thx

The only thing that increases the counter is flashing specifically a kernel via Odin that is not signed by Samsung.
This is why flashing some ROMs won't necessarily increase the counter: If you flash a ROM that includes a kernel that is signed by Samsung, it will keep the counter at zero.

That kernel is posted just in case you need it, if you flash a custom or insecure kernel, and want to flash back to stock. If you don't flash a custom of insecure kernel, you won't need it. Wouldn't hurt you to download it anyways though, again, just in case you need it later.

When you go into Download mode, it will display a count if you have ever flashed a non-Samsung signed kernel. If you have never done so, it will not display a count at all.

You'll have to install CWM recovery to do this... which means flashing a kernel NOT signed by Samsung, which means increasing your counter.

[Q] Confused with S2 process / keeping warranty

Hi,
First post in this forum but have been on XDA for a while now (galaxy ace/note). Did look for this before posting. My wife has an S2 and it recently updated (via kies) to ICS. Its the UK (H3G) carrier version. Im not new to rooting/roms/flashing etc as have flashed my old galaxy ACE countless times CM7/9 etc.
I understand the S2 has a custom flash counter which could screw up warranty.
She hates this (H3G) ICS as it has quite a load of bugs. (Freezes lots etc) and I was wondering the following:-
1 - Do you need to root the s2 to flash via ODIN?
2 - Will flashing a stock ROM from sammobile increase the flash counter?
3 - If so will triangle away work to get rid?
She is not keen on the warranty being void but will happily go back to GB if I can do it for her.

You can root using odin, flashing anything will increase your counter and Triangle away does work but it can hard brick you phone at the same time.

Cheers for the quick reply. The first question was do you need root for odin? is Triangle away that risky?
A. No.
B. No.
C. No need if not rooted as flashing official firmware package will not increase the counter. An insecure kernel will.
Just follow Intratech's official firmware thread. Has all the instructions you need.

Flashing the stock Rom = No Triangle
I flashed the leaked version of ICS using ODIN and didn't get the flash count triangle, It wasn't until I flashed the edited stock kernel that allows root (without effecting the rest of the phone) That I did.
But using Triangle away got rid of it and I feel the major warning message may be a little overkill as it only took a second and it doesn't even reboot the phone.

Triangle Away does not work on I9100g.. It says MAGIC HEADER NOT FOUND.
May be we need to request its developer to make it compatible with I9100G also..

Why do people continue to post offtopic crap in development sections?
This forum is for developments, not questions or general discussion or the "I cant use search button" forum
Questions go in Q&A.
Discussions go in General.
Developments, ie ROMS, Kernels, Mods, Reference etc goes in appropriate device dev forum.

How to install old bootloader and reset counter?
I have a Galaxy s2 GT-I9100 and unsuccessfully attempted to root the phone and the counter is on 5.
Current state of the phone is that it can only access download mode.
Tried a jig, that didn't work. Next tried to install old bootloader using Odin this also failed.
Initially the phone was running ICS and I believe I must have attempted to install an incompatible root kernel.
My intention was to reset the binary counter and then use Kies to restore the original firmware.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Rooting the Galaxy 2 on ICS 4.0.4, Stock XXLQ6

Heya
I'm rooting my phone for the first time. Had a quick look around the web and couldn't find the exact instructions for rooting the stock XXLQ6. However I have read that using the instructions set for xxlq5 is safe and won't cause any major issues.
Should I root the XXLQ6 using XXLQ5 instructions?
If not, please recommend any(safest) instructions on how I should root the XXLQ6.
Flash siyah kernel from www.gokhanmoral.com. Download the odin flashable one and flash it.
I suggest you be extremely careful if you follow another guide, since the stock kernel you have is dangerous and can hardbrick your phone.

Don't wipe anything, or make any backup after rooting your phone. Let me know when your phone is rooted, then I'll guide about flashing a custom kernel immediately. This way you are safe.
Or
If you are so, so scared, then i will advise you to flash a custom kernel via Odin at once. This is faster and safer in your case.
So which one do you prefer?

Hey there,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II, the info about the phone is in the attachment (Screenshot). I have been considering to root my phone lately due to the problems with my GPS. I have understood, that by rooting my phone, I can have access to such apps as FasterFix and GPS Aids which should solve the problem of changing my NTP server. I guess, that since the phone was bought abroad, it hasn't got the correct server in my country. So tell me, what is the best and the safest way to root my phone and is it even a good idea? Maybe you have other solutions? Anyways, I hope for your help, dear XDA-Developers
Cheers,
Olev.
EDIT:
Just checked the Got Brick bug? app. Found out that the kernel indeed is Known to have the bug. Really hoping for your help in solving this problem before I do something wrong with the phone.
Thank you in advance,
Olev.

[Q] Flashing a stock ROM on rooted Galaxy S3 i9300 with CWM??

as said earlier two options:
(1) yes you can flash without resetting the counter, if you do not care about the counter, hence be aware of the fact that, in case you want to give it back to a service center they might reject it
(2) no you have to reset first if you care about the counter (e.g. if you want to give it back to a service center)
