Hi.
I realy need help with my S3.
Thing is that when I root it and put a custom ROM, my SD Card starts acting strange: it only shows some files (like photos) on gallery while on pc or any explorer all files are shown. While playing music it often lags ant etc.
I used Paranoidandroid and omega ROMs.
Everything is ok when I unroot it...
I tried everything, formatted in different systems, but still nothing...
I have 32GB Class 10 micro SD
Help please with this.

Hey,
I would say this belongs in the GS3 forums. You will get a faster response there.
Thanks
I also have a guide about SDs that don't work here.

In detail > do u mean what programs i tried to use? if it is apps are (a2sp pro - link2sd - app2sd -gl to sd - and much more programs )
i just can not move apps or games to my external sd card
when i used (app2sd) program it gives me this msg : the device does not have a real primary external storage or the primary external storage is emulated .
My device is (samsung galaxy S3 - odin rooted )
any solution? thx in advance
I think your /sdcard is internal memory. The /mnt/extsdcard is external memory. If you removed your external sdcard do all your files and stuff disappear or are they still there?
If you are rooted I think you can change where everything gets mounted or maybe change it in your boot.img.
Also, it's not for nothing. Consider this an educational journey into the rich world of rooted phones.

First thx and about stuff disappear , no i can still see them whenever i use usb cable or any
its my first android so am new to expressions (your boot.img)
its ok just wanted to have more memory cuz my empty memory is 700 mb :S right now
and am using the factory rom ( maybe i have to setup rom so it can work?)
about education am afraid to educate on my s3 maybe i have to buy a cheap one until i learn how to use
thx again bro
Since you are rooted you can install a custom rom that has no bloatware. You'll get more space because it will only have the apps that you want

Hi
I'm having problems mounting my sd card in cwm recovery. It's working fine however in my phone when I'm looking it under settings/storage. It's a 16gb class 6 mmc. I can also access files in it via file managers and listen music in it(sd card) using the walkman app. It's just that I can't use it when I'm installing zip from sd card. I'm on UHD 2.0.3 btw. Here's some troubleshooting I did:
1. Pulled out battery, reinserted sd card (Didn't work)
2. Mount sd card under mounts and storage in cwm (Didn't work)
3. Formatted the memory card (Didn't work)
4. Used another sd card. An 8gb class 4 mmc. (Worked! I can access zip from cwm)
Now my question is can this particular mmc still be saved? I'd like to solve this problem without having to cash out money. Thanks

Hey guys!
I have a problem and I search on the internet for days but I can't find a solution of this. So I have to write it down here. I hope someone can help me with this one.
So...the story. I had ICS on my phone, but I flashed with an official JB. So it's a stock rom, all i did with it just a rooting method. So it's stock but it's rooted. My problem is that all of my audio players (stock, winamp, early poweramp) can't see my sd card. All of my other apps can see it, but non of the audio players. I had a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 before the I9100, and that one and the Samsung Galaxy I9100 with ICS could see the external SD, because when I entered in my internal SD I could see a folder named ext-sd. It was a "link" to my external sd, so I can quickly access to it. Now on JB the folder is gone. I think the solution is that I make the "link" again. It's just a guess, I am a simply user so if you guys have an idea for this issue, please tell me cause it's a real pain in my ass :-S So all I want is my audio players can read my ext SD. Waiting fo the suggestions!
Have a nice day!

In the file manager goto /mnt/extSdCard
Ok I see the folder there with my file manager, but my problem is that my audio player can't see... I just see the "sdcard0". Unfortunately this is not solve my problem. But thank you anyway

I also had similar problems when I tested out your experience,in an another device I found that in JB the Music Player is not detecting from the ext-sd card or internal sd card, the thing I did was backup all data and formatted both the memory, I think it may be related to the filesystem settings but whatever a wipe and restore saved the day.
What i did
1.Made a nandroid backup
2.Copied all data from sdcard and ext-sdcard
3.Copied everything to PC
4.Performed complete wipe
5.Restored nandroid and copied data back as it was
6.Everything aright, crisis averted.
Thank you so much! I hope it gonna works. I will check it today!

Tough luck, then maybe the issue is with the media scanner?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I, after a series of reading has found that there is in fact a media scanner error in JB which causes similar problems like Gallery not updating, music player not updating, some of these people resolved this issue by using the app rescan media root to terminate media scan at boot time, and then by manually running scanner through that app to update your Gallery/Music Player, try this procedure, there is a flashable zip to fix this for deodexed roms.

Ive just flashed official malaysia i9100g 4.1.2 taken from sammobile. After doing hard reset, format usb storage, I inserted a sandisk ultra 32gb class 10 then I got this weird files on /storage/extsdcard. I thought maybe its a virus ive formatted it using the phone. But after every reboot, its still there. And antutu seems to freeze whenever it reaches sdcard i/o test. It worked fine in 4.0.3. Is this a microsd malfunction or jellybean issue?

check in i9100G Android development forum instead. They have a Q&A there too
Update: looks like it happen when im using usb mass storage, mtp and ptp mode. I guess im gonna need a card reader after this. Then going to do vold.fstab mod later.

Seems to me that you will need a new microSD card.
But, try first with card reader on some PC. Format and then check card on PC.
You wrote you formated card in mobile phone? But those weird folders look to me like suddenly visible deleted folders. So after checking on PC format again in phone.
Then read again line #1 of this post. I'd like I'm wrong...
Ah... have you checked with another SD card?
It works fine with 16gb + vold.fstab mod. Im going to check this microsd in ubuntu before sending it for warranty.
