I ported paranoid android from the desire HD to the thunderbolt and almost everything works fine except for the mic and speaker during calls. I have tried everything I can think of with my limited knowledge and was putting this here to see if some more seasoned devs may provide some insight. I'm hoping like hell this isn't kernel related but I seriously doubt it is. Data works fine and so does mms/SMS. I did have to port the ril from our limited ics roms we have to get data. I think this is where I will find the problem but I'm really not sure.

Sorry to say but it IS a kernel/rom related problem. The kernel/rom dont work on another model or company' model. So, sorry.
Hope i helped .

Is there a way to fix it so it will work. It doesn't make sense to me that audio from games and notifications works but in call doesn't.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using Tapatalk 2
To fix it you need some tools and MOST importantly, deep amounts of knowledge of the structure of android OS. And in android, everything makes sense .
Hope i helped .

I'm pretty sure I have most of the tools already. I just need a dev to point me in the right direction. Based on your post count I can see you may not be able to help me.

Firstly you have to pull a logcat of the events leading up to it not working. You will find verbose and errors listed.

I've been running cm10 on my jewel for awhile now, and lately the people on the other end of my phone calls have been complaining that I sound extremely muffled or distant, to the point that a phone call is almost impossible. I've contacted sprint and they say everything looks good on their end. Does anyone know the cause of this issue, or a fix?
Thanks in advance

Its a bug in cm10. U should probably read the thread on the rom u are using before doing things like that

Foot in mouth? Its all good man. Majority people are here to help as illustrated all the way through ur post. 6 years here and that I am sure of. About ur issue: I had same thing ( distant /can't hear/muffled on the sake Rom) hoping it goes away with my replacement but-like u- was on most current CM10 nightly.

There's a setting in call that enables or disables noise suppression. I had this problem until I disabled it. All good since

I just posted the same question because I seemed to miss this thread. After poking around, I haven't been able to fix this either. It started right after the commit that played with the mic volumes. I have changed them back and built myself, but no luck so far. Does anyone know if there is an official bug ticket(if there is such a thing for CM)?

U get anywhere with this? On my third phone and it happens every time I root and install CM10.1 although the prob remains eben if I go back to sense based ROM. This is so frustrating and this is my primary work phone. Idk how its just u and I? I'm assuming with sprint being aware along with/ tech support /multipl3 replacements/weekly complaints - that they will allow me an early upgrade for the One or S4. Whichever is first because this has been a nightmare . Bluetooth the only usable format for voice calls. Headphones / earpiece ..."SORRY Sir are you on speaker phone I can barely hear you"...NOOO IM NOT ON SPEAKER ARGH... Sorry everyone for rant

A full wipe and flashing a sense ROM should fix it for you guys. If the problem persists after that there could be something physically wrong with the mic
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Thank you, but will flashing the stock ROM, then flashing back to CM10.1 still solve the problem? I don't want to run the stock Sense ROM.
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda app-developers app
You don't have to do that. I had the same problem when i flashed a certain CM10.1 rom (cm10.1 black from swiperrat i believe). I simply wiped everything and installed irocevo's unofficial CM10.1 4.2.2 (the one with xperia z launcher and acid audio mod) and i was apparently perfectly clear after that. Give the rom a try, it fixed my issues.

same issue here, any solution found? it seems to be an issue of all aosp roms I download.
have you guys all tried Sense ROMs to see if they fix your problem? otherwise you might be in ipclark1's situation (i.e. a problem with the actual mic rather than a software issue).
i had no mic issues whatsoever on kushdeck's build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110920
no it works just fine with stock sense rom, so it must be a software issue

I tried stock, it works on roms like meanbean, just not on aosp roms like carbon, liquidsmooth, etc
Any way that I can adjust the outcall volume? On phone calls the person on the other end can hardly hear what I'm saying, if at all. It seems to be low no matter which ROM I try. I am rooted and s-off if that may give me some more options.
Thanks.
Try to get into the epst settings and change the CDMA configuration as explained here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37710750
Be careful with those settings, if you follow the instructions there is a setting that you can change to change the call quality... Good luck!

Did it work for you? I hope so it helped my phone even with the low aux volume when using my car stereo and my Bluetooth headset... Be careful Do not to blow up your headset speaker.... :silly:
I've Looked Around And I Can't Figure Out Why Every Aosp Rom I Flash Gives Me Terrible Call Quality... I'm Completely Up To Date On All My Radios Firmware Etc etc.. I Am Resorting To Asking (Which I Hate To Do) But I Really Would Rather Run AospThan Sense. Btw I'm Dev Unlocked With Moonshine s-off. Currently Running MeanBean.
And I Don't Understand But Swype In Forums Seems To Caps Every Word...

Thanks so much for this solution. I had this problem, and this quick edit fixed it right away.
Then, I was able to pass that knowledge on over on the CM forums

How/where did you even figure this out?

oh awesome, this fixed my voice quailty !
Here we have some Mod's for your HTC ONE M9
more will be listed here as the project progresses
Audio
AUX improvement - this mod effects the AUX output on your device, as in your headphones (see attachment) file path is system/etc/.
Speaker - (WIP)
Camera
wip - some files still need tinkering, we're close but no cigar yet.
Others
you tell me?
Developers feel free to use this in your rom's, my only condition is give credit and thanks
I kindly ask that this not be included in other audio mod packs with out written consent. reason being is I spent hours going through the file to make the perfect output. thank you for understanding.
On another note I ask you all to save your thanks post! there is a button for that, please use it.
I do ask everyone to post issues with the device. - not rom related issues as in why doesn't xrom xtweak work.
questions and answers
why isn't it a flashable zip? because this is a development forum! if you cant adb push a file or manually move it via a file-explorer you're sol.

Flashed on LeeDroid m8 with partial success headphone quality definitely sounded better but when in a phone call people on the other ended couldn't hear me, I had to revert to the default mixer_paths.
Thanks anyway great work an m8 version would be awesome if you wouldn't mind.
