So we are having storms in the area and this popped up on my phone. I have never seen this before. Has anyone else? And if so what app is this coming from? I'm also on vigor 360 ROM but it seems to be a sense feature I think.

All Verizon phones are getting that feature. You can go into Messaging settings and disable them.
Whenever one shows on the Rez, my wife gets one on her VZW features phone, and I also get one on my work phone (Sprint BlackBerry). Stupid!
They are the cellular equivalent of the Emergency Alert System that cable providers must deliver. Even the president could send an emergency alert.

Don't know why anyone would "disable" weather alerts such as tornados but ok.. it also appears on the lock screen if you enable it in the weather settings (last block). It is not part of Google Now. Oh and yes I have seen it and like it..

I live in southern California where the weather is completely different if you travel more than 20 miles in each direction. Thunderstorms always hit a few miles west of me, while where I am we literally don't have weather, just hot and sunny every day. That's why I shut them off.
I like that my phone has this. We don't have cable so its nice to get updates on bad weather through my phone

Yup that's the CMAS thing. Annoying as heck, especially when you get them at like 4 in the morning -__- I was getting them constantly during Isaac, and on viperrez the emergency alerts menu is finicky so you have to open and close it a lot for anything to show up to disable it.

I don't get them either... it seems some locations do not support this, not sure if it is a Verizon thing or just the local government doesn't do weather alerts over the CMAS for local area.

I was just giving you guys a hard time its all good. I like the feature. One night when having bad weather I got an alert of a tornado warning. Its pretty cool for those of use who have weather I just got up and turned on the TV to see what was up.
Oh I'm sure it's great if you actually get weather. I was getting severe thunderstorm watches every day for two weeks. It hasn't rained here in almost 4 months. Seriously, we literally don't get weather here, it's ridiculous... I miss snow.

I'm getting extremely frustrated with the glitch that we all see on a daily basis: quick locking/unlocking of the phone will yield the unlocked screen followed by the lockscreen. How has this not yet been fixed by Google? Does anyone have a workaround? So stupid and unprofessional. It makes me sad :-(

That's BS. It happens almost every time and on every Android device. It's not long at all, but there's no way that every time you try a speedy lock/unlock that you don't get a glimpse of what's hiding behind the lockscreen. It's the same thing with apps that have lockscreen widgets (like PowerAMP). Sometimes I'll get a glimpse of the stock lockscreen and then the PowerAMP lockscreen widget will show up.
Android seems to have a serious issue dealing with sleep mode and knowing what to do on wake.

I can GUARANTEE that it happens on your S2. It happened on my HTC Magic, N1 and my current SGS2. Maybe you don't notice it, but it's definitely there. I'm uploading a video now to demonstrate what I mean, including the PowerAMP issue.

Thanks for the USEFUL response! I don't see it as a security flaw either, just a massive unprofessional bug. TBH, it's things like this that are the reason why the iPhone is seen to be smoother and more polished. I don't have an iPhone, so I can't ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE, but I'm pretty damn sure that something like this would never happen. And don't get my started on "only 1 phone to test on"; this has happened on ever Android device I have owned.
As you can see above, the issue is definitely there. Even if it is for a SPLIT second, it still happens and it shouldn't. And the issue with the PowerAMP lockscreen delaying for nearly 3 seconds should NEVER happen. Hell, I just tried it 15 times straight on my 2nd generation iPod touch, and it didn't happen once.
Honestly, if it takes Android purportedly DELAYING the screen wake by a second just to ensure that this doesn't happen, it's worth it IMO.
I see it when the phone has locked itself but not when I lock it using the power button.
I wonder if because the screen is off before actually locking the new lockscreen is not displayed until the screen is turned back on.
Agree it looks like sh1t when it does it.

I think he just means the "iPhone is better" war.
Not doing it here on KI8. I flashed and did a factory reset, wiped the dalvik cache and re-installed my apps and theres not a single glimpse of the screen under the lock screen.
I use a screen lock widget to turn off and lock the screen and the centre button to wake up the phone.
Trust me when i say it isn't happening on mine, it has done it previously and that's why i started using Widget Locker instead...

Yes me too, I have nearly burned my fingers off swiping my screen, and power button off. No problems with my K14 stock rom.
Maybe you need to clean up the App Cache, and use a memory booster as well?

This irks me greatly, since it seems to have gotten worse on KI3. Has currently annoyed me to the point of trying a stack of different ROMs to see if any of them are better. CM7 is - shame it's not quite at a daily driver level yet.

telling you it was not meant to be a real weather widget - like the purpose built weather widgets

I've submitted the issue to Asus. However, I hope they don't work to hard on fixing it as I'd rather them work on fixing my random reboots (not too common, maybe one every couple of days).
This seems to have been fixed in 9.4.2.15, although it could have been fixed in .14, was only on it for about a week and don't specifically recall whether % or %% was displayed during that time.
Do any of you fine folk know if it's possible to alter the CMAS settings on the Rezound?
We recently had a number of thunderstorms come through and were awakened at 3 AM by a screeching flash flood alert warning. And then it recurred every few hours after that.
On my wife's Droid 4, there's an "Emergency Alerts" app that lets you govern which alerts you want to receive, but I can find anything similar on the Rezound. I don't know if it's because I have been running Senseless roms (Slim, Con, and Neo's), or if it's buried in the settings somewhere and I've just missed it.
We should not be able to.silence them. I want as law a method that will bypass the sound profile and make all alerts loud as a dog horn. It should wake you.up as well written both flashing screen, flash camera flash and all that. What if their..was a terror attack, another Sirius shooting, a tornado, an alien invasion, sink hole, or some other energy... You would be screwed as you did not want to be disturbed....

Agree in principle, but there are always exceptions. Multiple flash flood warnings in a night. No thanks. I live on a hill. Also, I have a stand alone weather Radio that tells me the same thing. Don't need my phone doing too.

Dude, that's why there are levels of alerts. IIRC, it's Presidential, Extreme, Severe, and Amber.
All but Presidential are allowed to be disabled. I'm disabling Severe and Amber, because I don't care if there's a flash flood warning (happens here in Houston all the time, and not really an imminent danger), but I do want to know if an alien spaceship is about to blow up my house.
Really. First time that thing went off, I just about jumped out of my chair. I might have instinctively thrown it out the window if they weren't sealed shut.

Not to flame, but that is a terrible idea. In theory it is nice, but when it comes down to it, I don't need to be woken up if there is a sink hole or an alien invasion.

No I am not joking. I also screen with some law makers that we should also have an fm radio built in. I also think we should have an am radio built in also for a back up of emergency alerts. Also would save on data which the carriers would just love, right?

Well, that was as useful as tits on a boar hog. Can somebody please answer this question with a useful answer that solves the problem instead of reiterating it.
We want to know how to disable an unwanted annoying alert on our phones. Amber alert and weather warnings are wonderful and very useful for those that want it and need it. They are useless to those that don't want or need them. I get amber and weather alerts on my PC at home and office. I also have weather radio on all the time for alerts. If aliens invade they can wake me up when they come to take me with them. If there is a shooting that would affect me the gun shots will awaken me and my SW 45 and shotgun will silence the shooter in short notice. I don't want them coming on my cell phone unless I choose to have them.

Over xmas my phone went off several times, once when my mom and bro had it while I played with my niece and nephews and so they had to get startled. And I had to turn off my phone after a while cuz I kept getting annoying weather alerts that didn't help me at all, were not needed.
I forgot about it until I saw this thread bumped to the top.

Hey guys, the notification light is pretty unnoticeable on my desk and I think it would be nice to have the option to have the screen briefly light up with a small notification in the lock screen. Would be nice for those that have to keep on silent but still know what's coming in without constantly picking up the phone, or looking for that tiny light to flash when your expecting a text or email. Its working fine for me. I just took the wife's phone and blasted it with various messages and emails both screen off and on. Worked great. I take market reviews with a grain of salt as their usually from spoiled 12 year olds that only post when "something doesn't work " . If I can unlock a bootloader than by god I can set up an app properly lol

If it's just a fw anyone can flash it on defected devices unless they manage to check imei when flashing with odin...

It did, my new one has the green icon..
At first I didn't think much of it, but the more I see it, the more I think it's actually pretty hideous.
Btw, I don't know about the themes, haven't really checked that out, I'm using Nova Launcher and it's just green in that.

The battery stays green no matter what theme you apply.
It wouldn't make sense to make it so easy to change as the whole point is to make it easy to identify a safe product and none safe product, and if it was easy to change no one will believe you have a safe device etc.

Tested or just speculations? For whome I have to prove that device is safe? This is just stupid... Personally AOD is ruined for me, an that green battery icon will annoy me everyday. Was not planing on rooting but now star to think I will need to. Damn Samsung they overdid it... a simple message in about phone would solved all airport problems. Now we will have a ruined status bar and AOD... GOOD JOB SAMMY! The only problem is that there is no phone like N7 atm and I can't move on ?

Tested. I've had my replacement device since 12th September and received the update yesterday.
I've tried three different themes and on all of them the battery remains green.
I don't see what the massive issue is with it. Yes it isn't white like the rest but does it fundamentally change the phone? No.
If you don't like it and it makes such a big difference for you then maybe the device isn't for you.
Yes I woke up this morning to a message that my device had update... and now have the green icon. I mind it less then I thought I would.
