Is mobile data on? if not, turn it on. also check if mms is enabled in messaging app settings

Did you use wish's settings for faster internet? Its known to interfere with MMS. Make sure your on the att WAP APN and you should be good to hook

MMS problem on ICS
I had the same problem after updating to ICS. The solution which I accidentally found was to go to:
Setting > More > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > click on the left soft button and select Reset to default. That's it!
I noticed on a friend's SIII that while looking on his APN there was only one bullet shown by the first APN. On mine there was one bullet on the side of every APN. When I hit Reset to default, these bullets dissapeared and only one was left.

I just updated to 2.3.4 firmware, And re rooted. now i get no H+ or 3g signal. I am frustrated and stumped on what to do now anyone ?
have you made sure the apn setting are still there?
setting>wireless>mobile networks>access point names.
yea anyone i try will not get me data
Sounds like your apn has not been installed automatically. As its a test rom it may not have added your apn, you will need to add it manually

i had exactly the same problem man! Intratech helped me out, all you have to do is do a factory reset, if that doesnt work wipe all your data and cache by pressing Home + vol up + power button let me know if this helped you
Had the same issue upgrading to 2.3.4.
I manually made a new apn with my carrier settings. Then I also re-registered the phone.
Under wireless and networks >mobile networks > Mobile Operator.

MMS sending problems

Hey guys, I just came off of the Galaxy Note to the S3. I never keep the data option enabled all day because of the battery drain, plus I just manually update all my sync'd apps anyway so there's no need for it to drain my battery & use up my pre paid credits at the same time.
My problem is this. With the galaxy note when I would go to either send or receive an MMS I wouldnt have to have my data connection permanently on. It would automatically enable the connection to send or recieve the incoming MMS, download the pic for me then automatically disconnect it when it was done. No muss no fuss. The GS3 does not automatically enable data to retrieve ur messages, you instead get a little download button in ur text you have to click. Problem is even after I enable data and click download to retrieve my mms, 95% of the time nothing happens, no activity is shown that the pic is actually being downloaded and you just end up staring at the screen for an hour until you get bored and turn it off, without your mms.
Is there a setting somewhere or something I can hack that will turn on the feature that will automatically enable data to retrieve your mms just like I had on the note? Its a bit hard to believe they'd have it on there then disable it on their brand new one. Not everyone likes to have data on all day :|
Thanks guys
Do you have Auto-Retrieve set to on in the messaging app? Just checking.
Check you apn settings

Find APN setting for your network provider. In apn type, type in 'mms' without quot

mms is already in the APN section. The settings were sent to my phone after I put my sim card in. Looks like there mightn't be a fix for this... :|

Hey, I had the same problem and I just fixed it. it will take you about 10 seconds.
1. go to mobile networks in wireless and networks.
2. choose access point names
3. menu button and choose New APN.
4. Im on AT&T so this is what I put (may be different if you have some other carrier)
Name: ATT PHONE
APN: Phone
that's all you have to put, everything else will already have values in there so dont change them.
5. once youre done with this just choose the APN you just created and your MMS will work.
**If you have a carrier other than AT&T then maybe this will work exactly the same, just find a phone with the same carrier and copy what's already there.
Thanks for the tip jon, however it still didnt work for me

Oh, that explains it. you could probably use the same method but copy the info from another phone using the Optus network. for example, here in the US, AT&T has several settings that I can choose from so if one doesn't work I can switch to another (which I did by inputting the info manually)
Maybe Optus has more than one setting so you can just use another. borrow a smartphone from someone and see what settings they have, if its different than what you're using now, try the one they have.
Hi
I also have this issue but it is important to note that there is nothing wrong with the MMS settings. The problem is caused by the S3 requiring Mobile Networking to be active to send and receive MMSs, but I choose to keep Mobile Network disabled unless I specifically wish to use it.
On my previous mobile of another make, even with Mobile Network disabled, the network would come to life to send and receive MMSs and then switch off again. The S3 does not behave this way and needs the Mobile Network to be specifically enabled manually.
This is an irritation! I would love to know if anyone has a fix or workround for this.
So.. there isn't a work around because its how they designed the phone eh. Is it something that they can tweak in a custom rom? Or do I just have to wait until the release the new galaxy note and hope they they put it back in again?

are you on AT&T? If so, with the Galaxy S the problem is not with your phone's settings but on AT&T's end. turns out that sometimes your phone just disconnects from their network and they have to reset it--takes the only about 2 minutes to do over the phone.
It's on US Cellular, calling then would fix it though?

Im not sure how US Cellular works. I have AT&T. before you called them you can check your settings and make sure mobile data is turned on and you can also check your APN settings. on my GS2 I have 2 settings for APN, one is AT&T the other is Cingular. on my Wife's GS3 she was having MMS issues so I added a second APN to her phone and it worked--for a while then it happened again, called AT&T and it was something on their end.

I had the same problem not only with whatsapp but also with viber etc. I fixed it by creatin my APN settings manually.
Settings/Mobile Network/Connection Settings than tap home buttons left key / New APN
you can ask APN settings to your cell provider.
Usually it's not the cause of Whatsapp but your provider blocking it.
Many (if not most) providers are either incapable or unwilling to use transparent packet inspection (not necessarely Layer-7) and rely on the phone to have a Proxy server configured in the APN.
Interestingly exactly this proxy is usually not even given in the configuration details.
Some providers (such as mine) even attempt to do their bandwith throttling via the proxy. I don't complain since I don't use it =)
But other applications are ok with this default configuration. And Whatsapp in my HTC phone worked ok on 3G data with default settings...
later edit - found the solution 4 the problem, when flashed the new omega rom, it put all the APN profiles my provider has, including some ****ty MMS and WAP APNs. After I deleted those and left only the Internet APN, things got back in normal.

Whatsapp application problem
Hi all,
I am using samsung galaxy s duos.I am unable to send messages through whatsapp when I am using aircel network, other networks it is working fine.Is that the problem with aircel n/w or whatsapp application. If any suggestions pls give me replies......http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif
Also had a problem with WhatsApp messages not being delivered when on 3G but they would on Wifi. I thought it was something to do with droidwall but the resetting off APN settings makes sense.
I shall try that and hopefully it works.
Okay resetting the APN's did not work.
I am running Omega Rom and Jkay but this happened when I ran stock as well.
On 3G messages will sometimes come through immediately, sometimes not. They will always come through on Wifi. They will also come through if I open Whatsapp. Not sure if it is ISP related but when I had a Nokia on same ISP I never had this problem.
Does anyone know if something in Droidwall would be blocking this?
Thanks!
I was having problems since yesterday with my phone. Even not having the S3, one quick look here and found the solution. Thanks.

Hi
Please check your APN settings. Use your carrier support pages to find the correct mms settings...or you could try to reset the APN settings to default.
Good luck

Ok, I'll give it a shot at doing a quick walkthrough...
Go to "Setting". You'll be looking at "Wireless & Networks" and see "Wifi", "Bluetooth" "Data usage" and finally "More..."
Tap "More..." and choose "Mobile networks". Here you'll see "Access Point Names". Tap there and you'll now presented with your carriers APN's for your on-line and MMS settings. My carrier (Telia in Sweden) reads: online.telia.se and mms.telia.se. You should be looking at something similar with your carrier brands name.
Now it's time to head over to your carriers homepage and search for MMS settings. When you've found them, tap on "your-carriers-name MMS"
Now compare the settings on your phone to the one on your carriers home page and change whatever differs in the present APN settings on your phone and for heavens sake, don't forget to save! :fingers-crossed: You'll be able to save your new settings by tapping the symbol to the left of "Home"-button on your phone.
Now back your way out oh the settings with the arrow key and wait for a brief moment while your phone is connecting with the new settings.
I hope this will take you along the way to a happy MMS-ing
Good luck and be patient

check your apn settings
Google your phone carriers apn settings then make sure the apn settings on your phone match if they, change them.
