Memory card - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does Samsung s3 in box provide any memory card?

No, it comes with internal memory only. Any external SD has to be bought aftermarket.
To be fair you would want a bigger and better card then they would throw in anyway. Until then 16 gb or 32 gb internal is plenty enough to get the device up and working and still have room over for a decent amount of media.

Thank you for your reply, yes it would be great if we can insert memory compare to those built in ones.
Would like to ask bout some opinion in customs roms, any roms which is already stable for daily use. Gps, notes, messaging and email usage only.

it is noted that some market are provided with 32GB SD cards in which Samsung does mark 48GB on the box...this was due to the shortage of 32GB edition of the S3...

CheckROM is in my opinion one of the most polished ROMs out there...not many visual tweaks and very similar to standard but typically fast and very lean...good on battery too...

thank you for your reply. I will try on the rom. =]

Night and day in some cases, I was thinking of getting rid of my tablet till I tried Tasks rom. A friend was over with his Ipad last night and after playing with the Samsung he asked if I wanted to trade which of course I said NO. I would read though the forum on the different roms to see which one might fit what you need

Basically there is no point talking about it. Just do it and see for yourself. There is proof enough in the dev section that it won't do any harm, if you follow the instructions. Just flash cwm and then tasks rom. Don't bother rooting if you haven't already done it. The rom does it for you.
Why NOT root is a better question! Too easy, and revertable.
I think only thing stopping me is if I do decide to sell my tab some ppl want it original

You can unroot the tab by flashing any stock ROM. So need to worry for this reason.

overclock to 1.4ghz using setcpu app.
in most cases if you get a custom rom then it is also rooted
check out Task650's 3.2 rom, now at Ver 8 - really night and day compared to stock or just plain rooted

Does the dreaded screen re-draw occur with JellyBean

Not long till the official JB is released by Samsung.
A question to those who have flashed the leaks.. Does the re-draw still occur? mine is getting worse with ICS. I'm waiting for three seconds, sometimes more until mine screen is complete.
Hopefully JB has fixed this problem
Basic answer is yes at times .

Thats a shame. What is wrong with this phone? Its just not the performance you expect from a "flagship" phone.
JB is a test rom not a finished product .
jje
I hope the final build fixes it
Any news on whether or not thenewer leaked builds fix the issue?
The fact the note 2 and several other new phones have 2gb ram worries me slightly. If 1gb is plenty (as others have stated) then why the change?
I've had my phone since release so am well past returning it to amazon.
My question is would you be in your rights to return the phone to samsung under warranty (obviously they can't fix it as it's not just 1 or 2 devices with the problem). When they return it and you complain it still redraws, would they have to refund you eventually?
Then go buy one of the newer phones due out this year?
I'm in UK so AFAIK doesn't UK consumer law cover you past the standard amazon 30 days if something isn't working as described
Any thoughts?

S2 i9100 and 64GB microsd

Hello all,
I'd like to get a microsd for my i9100 (european) with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 oboard. The more space I can get, the better it is, so I was thinking to get a 64GB sd. Yes, I know that such a microsd has to be formatted in fat32 in order for i9100 to use it, but what is not clear to me yet is whether the phone would be able to move apps to a 64GB card.
Any first hand experience or suggestion?
Thanks
you can use a 64gb card. u just have to format it once its in the phone. it wont work if u dont format it. 16/32gb cards will work fine right away.
Buy two 32 gb SD Cards.

Thanks. I'm asking coz there seems to be a guy (don't remember exactly on which forum) suggesting that a 64GB is good for anything except moving apps to SD. So I was wondering if someone has first hand experience
but having 2 sd cards is a problem in itself. . what if my app data is in one card nd other data in second but what is i want to access both at the same time

If you read through that thread properly (and other threads), you can move apps to 64GB cards. It sometimes takes a bit of mucking around is all.

Hey ,
I would like to suggest make external as internal sd card.
You can store your all apps with ease on ext card ( 4 0+ has built-in function if i am not wrong)
anyway this is the app to make your external sd as internal and vice versa.

AW: S2 i9100 and 64GB microsd
So just to clear it up. It is working pretty well on Stock 4.0.4 Rom (Germany). just format it as FAT32.
What do you mean with installing Apps on SD Card. Why do you need this.. Is the 16GB of Internal Storage not enogh for your Apps :what:

Thank you all guys
For a very bad luck I destroyed the S2 just hours after I ordered a 64gb SanDisk!
I would appreciate suggestions on which phone to buy as a replacement! Obviously with a 64gb microsd capable slot
AW: S2 i9100 and 64GB microsd
Maybe an S3 since it has native exFat Support.

Haven't heard anything on a mega 2 release at this time.
If they do I believe it will be after a year ....its not a flagship device. The mega was an experiment which has honestly not done crazy good I don't believe. So I think its up in the air .............50/50 if we even get a second...imo

I'm running AICP MM ROM from the International G3 forums and its pretty stable so far. Don't think it exactly stock but, you don't need xposed, amplify, or greenify. I have xposed installed anyway.
