Have you tried to set your router channel to 4 or 6? Both of those seems to fix it for a fair few people.

Most wifi problems stem from the router not playing friendly with the tablets narrow range of communication options. This is good advice.
Great video and love your app! Thanks!
Changing the channel is a quick fix while at home, but for people who travel its no use at all. At times mine works at home and others it doesn't work at all. :-(

This is very true. I used to struggle with my work connection all of the time. No control over channels. Since ICS though, I have not had any issues.
Hey Rev! Just want to say how much I appreciate your videos. You do a wonderful job of explaining processes.
I do have a question......if I flash butta over cherry kang, do I have to wipe data? I just wish not to have to load everything again.

I am about done with OpenGarden. Works flawlessly at times, then randomly disconnects me ever after still saying I'm connected. I am wanting to know what the best and most reliable wired tethering app is out there?
I have a Thunderbolt, rooted, with Liquid 3.2 installed.
Switch to thunderstick and it works perfect

The rom? How so?
Download rom manager and go to download rom and look at thunderstick.........

The stock Mobile Hotspot app works just fine.
I do not want to switch roms....everything is working great for me on Liquid 3.2.
Stock mobile hotspot will want you to pay if you use it won't it?
Go to clockworkmod.com and check out kush's wired tether app. It's supposed to be really good, and you don't even need root.

U might also wanna reflash the liquid rom...... it might fix ur break with wifi tether ..... I haven't had trouble with either liquid rom or garden tether....... did u run fix permissions??

Go here ---> http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ and get the latest one. Just make sure to go into settings and pick thunderbolt as the profile and check the router fix box.
you should be good then

This is the one I was excited about when I first learned about it weeks ago, but it does nothing on my pc....I click ok or start or whatever it is and nothing works........
Yeah that new kush wired tether is garbage just like pdanet and klink. You have to install stuff on every pc you wanna use it on. Ohhhhh wired tether in the description through me off. I suggest scrapping liquid 3.2. It has a couple bugs that they aren't concerned with and has been totally abandoned. Open Garden is the best WiFi tether out there. Try channel 5 and 6 with ThunderShed 1.5. Never had a problem. Was using it today. I recommend wired-tether 1.4 from code.google. So much faster than WiFi. And I loved liquid 3.2 but too many bugs with tethering and a few other must haves.
Good luck.

Sorry if this is a repeat but I am kinda new to all this. I just rooted my phone and installed ICS from CM9. If that's nit the right way to word it my bad. The only problem I'm having is I can't tether via USB anymore. My computer recognizes my phone but doesn't connect. I even tried to tether using pdanet and that didn't work either. Wifi tether works fine. Please help it would be much appreciated.

That's an Epic 4G Touch. You're in the forums for the GT-I9100. Totally different models...

Though, it's worth asking: where did you get the CM9 that you installed? If you installed CM9 meant for an i9100, instead of one meant for an SPH-D710, that could be the source of your issue.
Hi,
I'm using TeamWhiskey Froyo Rom and wondered if there is a later version that is recommended as daily driver. I see there are plenty of 4.x roms, but anyone is stable and good enough to replace the Froyo?
Thx.

Pick anyone, it's better for sure. I use Kingsoft Miui on Semaphore kernel, I know it's way better than Bionix 1.3.1 or Biwinning or no matter what Froyo you can think of. Go ahead, it's time to upgrade.
+1, all of the 4.1.2 ROMs , IMO, are stable. There has been great progress with GPS in these ROMs as well. Upgrade, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I am Jack's smirking revenge.
Thx guys, I'll try to upgrade, got bored already with Froyo...

Ok, so I installed Slim Bean, really like it so far! Can't believe it's the same phone... Though I have some battery issues, need to check that, seems to be draining fast, I suspect the gps is keeping the system awake all the time, I remember it was an issue on ics roms...

Just wanted to update if others will read it, what I did to solve the gps wakelocks is to install this single file gps fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33844820&postcount=1246
And also uninstalled the GPS Status app I had, it seemed to be interrupting the gps from working well. That's it, hope all problems are gone now...

Be warned that gps fixes that replace blobs can mix badly with emergency dialing and can cause intermittent (and in at least one case constant) RIL crashes when dialing an emergency number.

Thx. I'm not in the USA, I wonder if it affects my emergency numbers here as well, thanks for letting me know, will check.

Also intermittent means it could work 90% but crash 10% of the time, so one test may not be conclusive. But frankly, I'm not sure if SlimBean uses the right libraries in the first place. prbassplayer/kravind can correct me if I'm wrong though.
How a 911 call is different from a regular call anyway? Why if regular numbers are working 911 won't?

Samsung used a special RIL request code for emergency numbers, so when we detect an emergency number, we use that code. When it does an emergency call it uses a command related to GPS and if the GPS libraries are out of whack, then the RIL can crash or receive corrupt GPS readings.
And also, 911 has to work even if no SIM card is present.

I am also interested in a daily driver but I don't trust Jellybean. I tried ICZen but its been acting weird lately. Any suggestions?
ParanoidAndroid 2.54-360 is a rock solid JB41 ROM!
Would you prefer my usual method of conflict resolution?
Ahhhhh, seems like the wake lock problem haven't gone away... It depends on how I reboot my phone, also I'm still unable to get a GPS fix.
I think this is the last Samsung device I'll bought, instead of making new devices every 3 weeks it would be better if they actually supported their devices by updating the os for instance...geeee.

Try CM10 nighty, and activate GPS for a minute right after boot if you want GPS after deep sleep.
Hi,
I could get a fix with my Nexus 7 device, is there a way to copy that "fix data" to my Vibrant device? maybe this will help it get a lock?
Thx!

I don't think that's possible since you change your location.
You can use an external GPS which will surely provide a better lock than the internal GPS.

You're using a Vibrant 4G / Galaxy S 4G not a Vibrant. The V at the end of the model number shows that.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
To funny cuz if you go to the cyanogenmod website and click the Vibrant it shows cm10 stable rom that i linked... And FYi i have a vibrant as well... Just sayin browski. Because rhe sgs4g and vibrant are two similar devices but different flavor. The sgs4g doesn't even have the support the Vibrant has when it comes to Cyanogenmod.
