What weather app does everyone prefer? Tried weatherbug and like it but severe alerts are slow to come through unless i open the app. Weather channel is a bit better but often doesnt notify until the screen turns on, and then notifies every few minutes.
Using tray weather updates and alerts for both(not same time)
Radar now has push alerts that work in a timely fashion

WeatherBug is the way to go... you need to go into the app and change the refresh rate in the settings though to get the severe alerts timely, the app actually uses the refresh rate you set for everything in the app (I know, how novel, right?)... keep it at an hour or lower and the alerts come though within an hour of release for me. I have ran it at 15 minute refresh with no real change in battery life either. I think by default the refresh rate is set at every 4 hours.
I use beweather. Works great for alerts.

Giving beweather a try. Looks cool, and based on wunderground which is nice.
I also really like weather bug. With the 15 minute refresh rate it works great.
Beweather is nice and works with the sense 4.0 clock widget on viper. I guess that's a sense 4.0 thing?

weather bug!
Accuweather
Love weatherbug and still have it around but really want push alerts, and beweather does that. Also nice interface.
I use mycast.

I have been using NoLED since it was a beta, now the app is on the market with a lot of customization. You can put different colors for sms, call, emails, etc.
Sometimes the application doesn't work proper. Maybe is me. I LOVE IT don't get me wrong.
I was reading and came across another application is call Missed Message. This application turn on and off the screen when you get a notification. I am using this application for a week now and is very effective.
What I like about NoLED is the color.
What I dont like about NoLED is that if you dont realize it will drain your battery.
What I like about Missed Message is that does do job because the screen on and off is very noticeable. Also that you can set up the intervals of on and off after certain time and after 5 hours it just stop workin
What I dont like about Missed Message is that is not customization.
What do you think about this apps. Which one are you using?
I haven't tried missed message, but I have used noLED. The potential was there, but it was just too buggy for me. I'm bout to give missed message a try. I was using sms popup. It worked quite well.
does it blink the whole screen? I wonder if it would be possible to blink a pixel lol

It blink the whole screen. You can make it blink for how many milisenconds you want and how often.
i think the newest version of noled lets you customize how long the app keeps showing missed items so you dont kill your battery
NoLED is better. You can set timeout for ir now if that was your only concern.

I like how HTC sense clock comes with stopwatch and timer modes, but of course I'm running CyanogenMod, so no more senseUI. Can anyone recommend a good stopwatch and timer app?
UltraCron - Paid App, but very good replacement if your used to the sense timer. Also has a free version with less options...

Will either of the ones mentioned continue timing when the phone screen turns off? I tried Kitchen Timer and the timer would pause whenever the phone locked.

I use ultrachron for the count down timer, it works fine when the screen is off.
I have not really tried the stopwatch part of it, but my guess is that it would work with the screen off also.
Download and try the FREE version of ultrachron and see if it works for you.

"StopWatch & Timer" continues to run. You have an option to keep the screen awake, but the dev recommends turning that off to save battery.
What apps are people using for their alarms?
Right now I use Alarm Droid. I really like it, but i have a problem with it changing my volume settings on its own.
Example: My phone is on vibrate, and I have an alarm that goes off at 9:05am. When I stop the alarm, my volume changes to either silent (which isn't a huge deal), or full volume. Full volume is when I have a problem, because if I don't notice it, I get email or txt notifications during times when my phone needs to be silent.
Has anyone had this kind of problem? If not what apps work reliably for you?
And before anyone suggests it, I can't just use the sense alarm because I am running CleanRom DE which is senseless. Although I have had this problem from the very beginning running the phone bone stock. So...any thoughts?

I use DoubleTwist Alarm, Love it so far, give suggestions for bed time and lets you know how long before the alarm is triggered
Kaloer Clock is my go to. Will Force the alarm volume separate from the system math on snooze or dismiss, quite a few options for customizing the clock face.
umm stock... dont know why i need anything else
what he said. why don't any of you use stock? its just an alarm clock lol. it wakes me up every day without a hitch.

I rarely use an alarm to wake up with... When I need one, I just set an appointment in Touchdown and let its appointment reminder wake me up.
Alarm clock ultra free.... Great features.... quick nap settings are great and so is the advanced math alarm for days where you absolutely must be up.

I just use the stock one.
I really miss the Blur Alarm clock from my Droid X. It's the ONLY Blur thing I miss. I like how the entire screen was the snooze button and you had to slide to dismiss. I wish there was a 3rd party alarm that was set up just the same. I have seen a hack to make the CM7 alarm work to look just like it, but nothing else.
Can't see a need to use anything other than the stock one - wakes me up every morning without problems
I use alarm clock xtreme. It seems to let you set the volume in the app independent of other volume levels.
I use stock. I keep all my volumes on high anyway so no need for anything else.

I use alarms as reminders and have been struggling to find the easiest way to create alarms on the fly. I'm currently using an app called Life Reminders, which has some nice features, but I'm still on the lookout for something better.
I just use the stock one. Works fine for what I need it to do, wake me up

Waking up is my kryptonite. If it's to easy to shut my alarm off, or snooze, I will never wake up, or snooze for over an hour. My boss hates the first, my wife hates the second.
Gentle Alarm, it slowly ramps up in volume so it wakes me up and not the wife.

You can do that in stock, just go to sound in settings and you can adjust alarm volume. Also I use stock sense or aosp, depending on rom

Like a lot of others said, Stock. Ive never even thought about any other alarm apps. Stock works perfectly fine for me.

I like having a larger snooze button, I wake up better if I hit snooze a few times and slowly wake up, it makes me feel like I'm getting a little bit of bonus sleep.
If I have to focus my eyes long enough to slide the "snooze" button into the ring, I've already woken up too much.
If stock is good for you, then great. There are some of us that prefer a huge, easy to use snooze button and then making it more complicated for the dismissal part.
The old HTC clock would turn to a nice desk clock with just a dim digital time when in landscape. The LTE's clock ha the time displayed like it is in settings in a bright white and highlighted bar. TERRIBLE for use as a nighttime bedside clock!!!
anyone have the old sense 3 version of the clock??? i couldn't find any clocks in the HTC hub thing.
---
the flashlight is in the HTC hub though, for anyone looking
---
so, are there settings somewhere to change the clock's appearance?? this clock sucks. it just looks like settings, it locks out standard, just no reason for it at all.
I do know that the clock will change when you apply a skin

??
I was looking for the Desk Clock too!
And by what he meant by the skin, when you change your scene, the Big Digital Clock widget's skin changes also
Count me as another person who very much misses the night mode clock. I downloaded "night clock" from the market as a temp solution, but I really would like the old HTC clock back.
I'm also looking for a way to dim the capacitive button backlights when the phone is on the charger.
You should check out Alarm Clock by double twist. It's only a buck right now. It's really nice.
Alarm by Double Twist
doubletwist alarm clock - its ok... but still not desk clock.
someone got the flashlight from sense 3, not the hub, can't anyone with a #D extract the clock apk? i didn't know it would be so hard to find
I'd be interested in this too, and also how you get it installed. I've been searching for a way to install the HTC Note app from the International One X with no luck. I found the apk files, and tried a couple of the obvious methods of installing, but no luck.
i'm screwed, the update gave me 1.5 on the 3d, so i can't back up anything without wiping everything i'm trying to back up, and i can't get into folders to play with extracting any apps either. have to beg someone out there to do this for me!!
I really miss this feature as well. I used it every night after I set my alarm. I've been using the doubletwist alarm clock application for the past few weeks and like it but I still miss the old desk clock mode in the stock app. Hopefully HTC will bring it back in a future update. Seems like an odd omission.
I too noticed that, and is the only thing ticking me off right now about this phone.
I used it every night. You put it in night mode, and it would dim even further.
Best when you wake up half asleep wondering what time it is. Easy on the eyes.
This would be huge if someone can make it work on this phone.
Same story here.... Also I would like a desktop clock that is easy on battery and doesn't shut down the display... Any thought on using any widget combined with widget locker or something like that to create something similar?

Doubletwist alarm clock has a "keep screen on" option in settings. Though I've never tried it, that plus one of it's clock displays (the screen dims when you switch to the clock view) might do the trick.
I found that drains battery unreasonably compared to either shut off or the old HTC desk clock option. I've tried everything I could find to replicate the old sense 3 clock. apps just somehow use at least double the battery
Saw my friends iPhone do it, so I got curious if we could have it on our beautiful Amaze's. I tried uploading the apk itself but there was no option on the phone app for xda. Anyway credit goes to the developer for this brilliant app, just thought of sharing it with you guys. Hit the thanks button when you go on the app developers page! Link is below. Enjoy!
And btw it works flawlessly on the Amaze. Currently running Speed Rom 7!

Very nice and useful app have been using it for close to a week after you posted this link thank you for the heads up on this beast now I rarely miss sms and call notifications if my phone is on vibrate and just lying somewhere in the house (the folks think my phone is having an epileptic seizure )

Although this app is cool. I can't seem to keep the preferences I set. Every reboot I have to open the app and just exit out of it for it to see my flash duration and interval. It's set to 1 & 1. So it just gives me a quick 2 blinks. But overall I'm pretty satisfied with the function and doesn't seem to consume that much more battery.

Sorry. I figured it out. I comprehended the details from the creator of the app. It seems that when you have the phone on and using it the flash just flashes away like crazy. But when the phone is off the settings are used. Kinda annoying but this app is nice. I pike to annoy people with it when its dark.
