Mwakious rom is so blazing fast and great battery life specially on V4
I posted this in another thread but I just noticed that you guys are discussing mwakious new Rom, so I thought I'd ask my question here:
I really want to try out this Rom. But I'm not sure what to use to Backup and Restore my contacts, apps, texts, etc. if NOT Titanium (which the instruction says not to use). I would post this in that thread but since I'm new I can 't post there until I reach my 10 posts
Anyways, and tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Contacts should sync to google if when added you choose your email instead of phone location.
To transfer phones contacts, under contacts view, press menu, then move, from phone to gmail account.
Always choose gmail and it syncs your contacts, saving them automatically.
Sms backup and restore on play store for texts. I use google voice, so my texts are saved to google.
Run a backup in recovery and titanium will get your apps and data, or just the apps. Using extract from nandroid backup command in titanium.
Shouldnt have a problem restoring data apps, just do not restore system apps.
Just make a backup in recovery, that way if you cannot get something you needed, you can restore, or extract the data from your backup. Plus you can go back to exactly how your phone was if you don't like the new Rom in only minutes.

I've been using virtuous 3.0.2 themed with phikal v8 and bass nod 9.8 (no theme no tweaks) and I hqvent had any bugs at all. All I can say is its been a great experience for me.
Only thing I've noticed is after any reboot into recovery another normal reboot is required after in order to prevent second core from staying on all the time.

Thanks for advise on how to back up my the contents of my phone. Everything worked great. I managed to flash the ROM. The ROM is super fast and smooth.....BUT, I have issues with Bluetooth:
I could hear key presses on my bluetooth headset but not the dialing or the other persons voice. I did a search on mwakious thread and no one else has had this same issue.
Any idea what's causing this issue or how to fix it?
BTW I use the blueant q2 headset (if that matters)
Thanks again!
Mwakious (all I have to say)
mwakious ROM is the best so far as to me
Better battery life.
Good Signal,
Good sound,
There are some few bugs like call drops, and 2D camera not working at some points. These can be fixed easily.
I've got Boot Manager and have CleanROM DE as my phone ROM. But the past few days I've been running RezRom 2.5 with sense 4 in slot 1 and I really like it a lot. However, whenever I try to flash/install Google Now, it never seems to be right. All the permissions are screwed up, I never get the en-US folder to flash and have to do it manually, and when comparing how Google Now performs to my dinc running jb, it's clear that the ICS install isn't performing very well. Based on many peoples' comments, I feel like lots of people had better luck with Google Now, so I'd like to try a ROM where it's built in and known to work well (as we as the ICS port can, anyway). I've searched and read a few threads over in the dev section, but haven't seen anything.
tl;dr, I'd like an ICS & sense 4 rom, like RezRom or ViperRez, but with Google Now built in.

I just tried flashing ViperRez and it's nothing but FCs when booted up. MD5 matched, not sure why it won't work at all. Gonna try Newts XxX and flash Google Now over it, see if that works. Looks like RLS 3.2.1 is the most current version... is that correct?

Working great on newt one xxx for me.. Using mikey v6 zip.
I'm now running Newt's XxX 3.2.1 with v6 of Google Now flashed. It's a little wonky, and due to it having a just-installed "clean slate" right now it's difficult to say how well it's working (or not), but voice searches work and a couple cards are showing up. No fc's. This ROM is pretty smooth, too, the only noticeable delay is when you open the app drawer for the first time after waking the phone, but it's at worst a minor annoyance.
I am running RezRom S4 V2.5 and flashed the "Almost There" version of Google Now with no issues.

try it on a fresh install. maybe you have something in the rom it doesnt like.
Greetings,
I'm hoping I can get some assistance with the " SonySan RLS 2.0 Sprint/VM [CM9][1/13/13] " ROM.
Here's my breakdown first:
EVO3D Sprint
S-Off, 1.50 Dev Unlocked
I've run other ROMs in the past, some have worked better than others.
Recently, I had been running SonySan RLS1 and it was not bad but had a few quirks I was hoping to alleviate with the 2.0 release.
Following the basic routine: Backup, Wipe All but SD, install from recovery. Let finish, reboot, configure.
Sadly, my experience thus far with 2.0 has been mostly terrible.
Some issues:
1.) The OTA Updated program doesn't work. It didn't work for me with RLS 1 either. It reports "Error Fetching update info: Invalid ROM ((SonySan)) & device (shooter) combo!
2.)The Xperia Home/ Launcher crashes very regularly, and EVERY time I attempt to swipe to the right screen from my home screen. I'm not sure if there's some widget or something there causing the issue as I've never actually been able to see it.
3.) The built-in Wifi Hotspot doesn't seem to work. At all. For me, it just hangs at "Turning Wi-Fi On..."
4.) I still have the Google market rather than the play store. I grabbed the Playinstaller for the ROM, flashed it (via 4EXT Touch recovery) and still had no change. The Market crashes 98% of the time before I can do anything with it.
I've also flashed the latest appropriate gApps too.
Often, Market and the Xperia launcher crash immediately following a reboot.
I've tried re-flashing just the kernel, and I've since also gone ahead and reflashed the entire ROM (without a full-wipe).
Nothing seems to have helped. I've reverted back to 1.0 for now so at least I'm mostly stable.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.
2. Do you have a link for an updated version of the Launcher/Home?
3. So the hotspot is known to not be working and there's a separate app/download that needs to be downloaded to get it functional?
4. I've never had to remove the old market manually before, do you have a quick HowTo?
Man, would be nice if these things were listed as "not working / need fix" in the original description.
Thanks, and I"ll consider re-flashing to this ROM again perhaps when a new version is released.
So release 3 was made available a couple days ago and I decided to give it a try.
The results were much better than what I had with release 2 but still some things seems lacking/not of my preference:
1) The market issues persists. I've ran the "playstoreFix" a couple times now and nothing seems to change. Maybe there's more to it than just flashing it? The directions are ...absent. As it is, it's still showing market and crashes regularly.
2) Unless I'm missing something..I don't even see a basic clock/alarm built in. I guess I assumed this was pretty standard from all ROMs. Yeah, there are plenty 3rd party ones available but why not just keep the one that is integrated with the OS??
3) The OTA Updater app STILL doesn't work at all. It gives the same error I reported back in release 1.
4) Bluetooth seemed spotty but I haven't tested it much to really confirm the issue. Same wit the built-in wifi tether.
Background: After being a scaredy-cat for a year, I've finally achieved S-OFF on my HTC Rezound. My plan is to try a new ROM each week, and post a detailed review. I've decided to start with NIL's Business 2.1.0 as it seems (based on scanning the forums) to be very reliable and solid.
ROM: NIL's Business ICS 4.0.3
ROM version: 2.1.0 - 2012-12-09
ROM Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757357
Phone: HTC Rezound
Security: Unlocked and S-OFF
Previous ROM: Stock+Root
Recovery: Amon-Ra 3.1.5
Installation:
copied .zip to root of SD card
adb reboot recovery
Wipe All / Factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
wipe battery
wipe cache/davlik again
Flash zip
followed Aroma installer instructions
Installation Time: Approx 15 minutes from flashing zip to starting configuration in Android. When the splash screen comes on, it took a good while (perhaps rebuilding Dalvik?), but nothing to worry about.
Errors encountered: None
Gut reaction: Pretty psyched about flashing my first ROM without screwing my phone up royally. Excited that the install went sooo smoothly. I'm enjoying the tweaks to Sense that come with 4.0. I wish HTC would update the Rezound with 4.0 in a future OTA. Performance doesn't seem much better yet, although I need more time for things to settle in.
Initial thoughts:
Sense 4.0 is great! The extra quick settings are fantastic
It's nice having the built-in Dropbox integration
Aroma installer is fantastic. It lets you choose from about 2 dozen apps to install, which is great
Initial speed is just ho-hum. That might be because Play store almost instantly starts downloading all of my apps, so I'll evaluate tomorrow
1% battery increments is a nice touch
Sense 4.0 app drawer now pages side-to-side, more like standard Android. Nice.
I plan on running this ROM for about 7 days to really let it settle in. My next ROM will be one of the JB ROMs. If you're curious about this ROM, and there are things you'd like me to test, please post your questions below! I'm doing this all for you guys.
----2013-03-12 Updates ----
Battery Life: Batter has been simply fantastic compared to stock+root. I'm now going a full work-day on a battery. On stock, I used to charge every 6 hours, and it would drain fast. I'm not sure if it's just that I have a new ROM (and thus cleaned out whatever crud) or the ROM itself, but it has been a massive improvement. If you're having battery problems on stock, then this would be a great first ROM to try.
Bluetooth: I have 2 BT devices I used routinely. I have a pair of Jabra bluetooth headphones I used at the gym, and a Creative Labs bluetooth speaker. Both paired quickly and have worked flawlessly. I don't have a bluetooth headset for calls, so I can't comment on that.
Call quality: I've only made a few calls, and they've all worked fine with the same quality as stock.
Text / MMS: That's all worked fine. I don't send MMS, but I sent a few test ones, and they worked fine.
App compatibility: The apps I use routinely are:
Google+
MyBackup Pro
Dropbox
Chrome Beta
PocketCasts
Spotify
Google Drive
XDA Premium
LinkedIn
All of those apps worked fine. No issues. In fact, Google Drive and Dropbox were both failing on my previous ROM (stock) and this fixed any of those issues.
Gaming: I play a few games, and they all worked fine. Those games are Archipelago, Royal Revolt, Planet Wars, Flood-It! and Robo Defense. Some of those are 3D, and all had no problems.
Photo and Video: I've always had a few photo quality issues with my Rezound (mostly around having to tweak the white balance). I haven't found good settings yet under NILs, so I'm seeing photos not as good. I've had a few problems where changing the camera from main-to-front caused the photo app to quit. So out of 5 stars, I would give the photo situation 3.
Reliability: Things have been very solid and fast. There have been a few regressions compared to stock, however.
I've had to remove the battery once after the phone froze up in Play Store.
I had to manually mount the SD card after it failed to do so. I was freaked out that it was empty, but I just had to mount it.
I power-off my phone at night. In the mornings, after powering on, it feels sluggish for a few minutes. (Note, that by power-off I mean suspend or fastboot).
I'm needing help/looking for recommendations for a new DNA ROM. I usually have the worst luck in choosing ROMs so I thought to ask the community which one(s) that are available at this time that you use and would recommend.
A month or two ago I switched from a 4.2.2 rom to Blackout's "HTC One *STOCK* ROM Port | 4.19.401.8 | 4.4.2 | HTC Sense 5.5" ROM. Although I loved the new features and their work (very much at that, thank you all!).. but with the ROM itself I found the battery life to be pretty bad, especially compared to my previous 4.2.2 ROM and Blackout's also doesn't always connect well to some WiFi hotspots. My old 4.2.2 rom was really great on battery, was fast, stable and connected well to all WiFi connections.
Basically I'm yearning for a newer DNA ROM, maybe KitKat, doesn't have to be though...
My absolute must haves are below:
Very Stable - If it's not stable all the time I'd rather pass for a different ROM. It has to almost never crash with normal usage for it to be a daily for me.
Great Battery Life - A ROM with great battery life. Since the DNA as it is has bad battery life to begin with a battery efficient ROM would be a must.
Fast - I'd like it to be fast in transitions and loading software as best as possible - I'll trade in many cases newer features for speed almost any day.
No Bugs For Common Tasks - WiFi, Bluetooth, Speaker, etc - it all should work as expected and flawlessly.
Nice to haves list, but not necessary, are below:
Latest Android/KitKat - Would be nice to have KitKat, 4.4 but doesn't have to be.
Latest Sense/5.5 - I don't use Sense a whole lot but wouldn't mind the latest.
Improved Camera - again would be nice but not needed.
So basically... any recommendations for a new DNA ROM(s) would be _greatly_ appreciated. I can spend days trying out ROMs with little to show for it and would love to hear your thoughts/recommendations. Even if it's not the latest, if it's a solid, stable fast and super reliable ROM with great battery life please share I'd love to hear it.
Thanks!!
Try ViperDNA. Current version is 3.1.0 (4.4 KK based off the Sense 5.5 from HTC One). It is as stable as it gets for KK, all KK roms have VOIP issues, so if you need that, stick to 4.2.2 which ViperDNA 2.5.2 is based off of (recent DNA OTA).
Why choose Viper for a Rom? It has a boat load of desense options. (AOSP launcher, AOSP lock screen, etc) Viper roms also have some really nice themes also.
Viper ROMs also get pretty decent battery life.

I agree viper rom is by far the most customizable rom when it comes to sense roms and it is very stable. I'm still running 3.0.1 but 3.1.0 is out. There have been some bugs in that version that are being worked on. So I'm waiting until it's fixed. Rom is as stable as it gets though. Highly recommend it when it comes to sense roms.

Great, thanks for the info. Just to clarify: you're running 3.0.1 which is viperDNA_3.0.0_release_candidate.zip released Feb 15, 2014 () plus the VIPERdna_ota_3.0.0_3.0.1.zip from Feb 24, correct? It's Android 4.4 and it doesn't have the SMS bugs people are dealing with in ViperDNA 3.1.1?
I'm also looking for a stable, no-glitch ROM, preferably 4.4. I think I'll try ViperDNA 3.0.1 based on your recommendation. Thanks! =)
For others reading this thread: I had trouble finding 3.0.1, but eventually found it under "previous releases" in the thread "(3.19.14) Team Venom Presents ViperDNA v3.1.1" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648446 Download link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=2910#downloads

I downloaded 3.1.0 and the OTA 3.1.1 zip update. I formatted my phone with TWRP, "adb push"ed the two zip files to my phone. Installed 3.1.0 then after that I installed the 3.1.1 OTA update.
It's really interesting you mentioned the SMS issue... I've noticed that when I send SMS messages it will repeat them on my phone (but I'm told the recipients only get one of them). If this is the SMS issue you're referring to then I can confirm with 3.1.0 w/ 3.1.1 OTA zip that I'm getting that.
The other issue I have is some Google processes will unexpectedly stop running... for example if I'm using Google Search or Google Now sometimes it'll unexpectedly quit and crash.
Thank you for linking and explaining how to get 3.0.1... I think I'll go ahead and flash that instead.

I think so; that sounds like what people were describing in the ViperDNA thread. I haven't tried 3.1.0 or later yet, because of the reports of double SMS. As of yesterday there's a ViperDNA 3.5.0. Although the release notes don't say anything about fixing the double SMS, I'm going to watch the discussion for a few days and see whether it gets brought up or not.

So I've now been running 3.0.1 for a day or two and I'm mostly very happy with it. The one caveat is a bug with the camera: if you turn the screen off (or the screen times out) while the camera is open, the screen won't turn back on. I saw a posting saying that a workaround is to plug into power before pressing any buttons, but I found a better workaround: switch to the AOSP lock screen (instead of the default Sense lock screen) and the camera bug goes away. I do miss the quick-launch buttons from the Sense lock screen but my phone is responsive enough with this ROM that I'm OK with that for now. To switch lock screens, go into the Viper Tweaks application, then go to Lock Screen section, and there's a toggle to switch to the AOSP lock screen; you then have to reboot the phone for the change to take effect.
ViperDNA 3.5 isbelieve out
An update -
Viper 3.5 has been released - it supposedly fixes the multiple text message bug (one that I was receiving)... And others are reporting a bug with Bluetooth headsets - in that when music/video/media etc work really well but is jumbled when making phone calls. (*NOTE - I'm not sure on this next part...) I believe I read that the Bluetooth phone issue is rleated to 4.4.2 KitKat , and that it won't be fixed until HTC releases source for the DNA and 4.4.2.
One "big bug" I had with 3.5 was related to GSM ... there is a big issue with APNs, SIMs and ViperDNA 3.5. This is just an FYI based on my flashing experience.
I'm going to try 3.0.1 like others here and see how that goes - I am hoping all I get (if any!) is the camera issue mentinoed above.

3.5.0 apparently fixes double texts (i modded and used a different mms.apk)....that is according to beta team and other users as i personally block messaging on my account and use google voice and hangouts for texting as i dont want to pay for a messaging plan
gsm was a mistake on my part and i got aggressive in trying to make it a more pure gsm build for those users....but if you select "verizon" install instead of gsm in aroma you can still manually set your apns and network mode.....just loose out on the specific gsm quicksettings and have some verizon apps installed
there should be no difference in bluetooth from 3.0.0 up to 3.5.0, its all the same files, phone calls work the same regardless of version for me....but everyones devices are different and we are talking about a rom port
the camera issue/bug with screen off was resolved as of 3.1.0 as well

Yes, Viper is a sense-based ROM. That means it has all the sense libraries and applications. The default lock screen is the sense lock screen, the default launcher is the sense launcher, and the sense mail app, widgets, calendar, etc. are all there too. Other ROMs which are based on Cyanogenmod or AOSP cannot run sense applications because they lack the libraries (and maybe other stuff? kernel support?) needed to run sense.

i already unlock and rooted my droid dna, and install clockmod recovery, but nowaday most rom are on twrp, so i used fastboot method to replace my clockmod with twrp, and then i proceed to flash my hboot, but i encounter this error,

Sorry, I haven't seen that one before. But I'm a bit of a noob; maybe someone else can help? If a forum search doesn't turn up anything useful, you might get more attention by starting a new thread.
Thank you!

gsm was a mistake on my part and i got aggressive in trying to make it a more pure gsm build for those users....but if you select "verizon" install instead of gsm in aroma you can still manually set your apns and network mode.....just loose out on the specific gsm quicksettings and have some verizon apps installed
there should be no difference in bluetooth from 3.0.0 up to 3.5.0, its all the same files, phone calls work the same regardless of version for me....but everyones devices are different and we are talking about a rom port
the camera issue/bug with screen off was resolved as of 3.1.0 as well

Thank you so much for replying in this thread Nitsuj17. Glad to know all of this.. I think I will flash 3.5 now in Verizon mode. 3.0.x has been working well for me too (except I have gotten the lock screen bug a few times, once for sure with camera). Love your ROMs and your work.

3.5.0 apparently fixes double texts (i modded and used a different mms.apk)....that is according to beta team and other users as i personally block messaging on my account and use google voice and hangouts for texting as i dont want to pay for a messaging plan

Great, thanks! Sounds like 3.5 is a winner. I'll update when I get a chance. Very much appreciate all your hard work on this ROM; I'm quite happy with it.
One thing I haven't been able to figure out yet is where to configure the launch shortcuts for the AOSP lockscreen. The ability to configure shortcuts goes away when I toggle from the sense lockscreen to AOSP, but the AOSP lockscreen has 8 slots around the circle for apps to launch, they're just mostly empty. Perhaps that's fixed in 3.5 too?
The best way to find the best DNA KitKat Rom would be to download and be a flashaholic. That's what I have done here so far and honestly I'm stuck between santod040 and nitsuj17 Rom.! They both give me the performance I'm looking for and I never have issues with either of there roms. And when I do I see others metioning the same thing and within a day or two it's usually fixed by them. But that's my point of view. Only you can choose the Rom you like.
