Soft Brick Questions - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I using these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449771
Of course to recover from soft brick possible a NAND rw coruption.
and I have questions regarding this thread:
1. It says there that there are no kernel, .PIT or bootloader for the G/M/P/T versions, so if I have the T version I need to use the kernel under "ICS VERSION" in blue title ? By this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?65a5a59666hdopx ?
2. If so, I can't open this file it says CRC failed the file is corrupt and I have downloaded the file a few times already, does anyone have a link for this file ?
3. If I need a different kernel for my GTI-9100T version, can anyone provide me a link for it ? because I think it's a NAND rw coruption which means I will need to do step 5 in that thread.
4. In the steps he says "You'll see CODE, MODEM, CSC and .PIT. Put each one in its place..." since for my T version I only have one .tar.md5 file I need to put it in the PDA, but what about step number 8 ? from where I can download the bootloader ? anyone have a link for that ?
the OP there only says "only flash what is in the provided package" for the T version, but again, I only have 1 file..
Thank you.

I didn't even start.
I am trying first to understand the steps.
I can't go into recovery mode only download mode.
I don't see the bootanimation only the SGS2 logo and then it flashes white.
I really need answers to those questions, the tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449771 is good but the kernel file doesn't open and all the questions I asked above.
Thank you.

Good.
My assumption:
I think your gf probably tried to use ROM manager. I think she wanted to flash recovery and thus it wiped her recovery, and soft bricked the phone.
Because, ROM manager is the only dangerous thing that can do that in CM9.
Can you try to confirm if my assumption is right?

You cash still follow it if you want but the one will not harm. This may actually work faster. So I'll advise you give it a try.
BTW, the mediafire link you initially posted, is a GT i9100 kernel, it won't boot your phone since your ROM is CM9.
That's why i want you to flash Siyah kernel first, since it's compatible with CM9 and if this doesn't work, then I'll guide you through that post

Samsung has their own recovery on all galaxy device. So you don't need root to boot to it
To boot to recovery,
-Off your phone,
-Hold Volume up + home button + power button together
-Remove your hands from those buttons when your phone lights up.
I'm sure all this info is in that thread.
Read carefully and be a little patience

can you give a tutorial link
It is worth to invest few bucks in Chainfire's Mobil Odin Pro from Playstore to flash any Rom (stock or custom) with EverRoot option. It is good solution for people with moderate knowledge about flashing, rooting, etc. It's also safer method for those people because there is no chance to screw up bootloader or choose inproper flash images to selected partitions.
But flashing original stock ICS and rooting it is not so hard. It's free but you need to know some basics.

Gyz if u wanna update ur firmware from gingerbread or ics 4.0.3 to ICS 4.0.4, at first u need 2 wipe ur phone factory data, catch partition & delvic catch. Don't wipe factory data/catch partition from stock recovery in ics 4.0.4. cuz its have brickbug. check if ur phone have brickbug or not by this apps "eMMC brickbug check" from Google play store. After wipe then update ur phone firmware by select PDA in odin. download latest(30/7/12) unbranded European ics 4.0.4 XWLPU stock firmware in this link:
http://db.tt/3nw1oSmr
plz backup ur all necessary document/phone numbers/mms/sms etc. after flash when phone restart & automatic install some apps. After that flash again brickbug free LPU safe kernel by select pda in odin. download brickbug free LPU kernel in this link:

or

Wanna root ur by this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794
U first read my step by step method then download cwm touch 6.0.1. Zip file & root super su 0.95 Busybox 1.20.2. zip file from 1st page.

I accidently installed resurrection remix rom for GS3 on my GS2

Now it is stack on startup screen – and it would not go in to recovery mod (however it dos go in to download mod) what do I do?
Hi! I see that you are a new member, I suggest you read first the forum rules not that you've done something wrong, but just to inform you
you can also check guides here [INDEX of GUIDES/TUTORIALS] SGS2 GT-I9100
Since you can go to download mode, you can directly flash a stock firmware via odin
Check this one out also, since i think you're on bootloop [READ THIS] Got a Boot Loop?
Hope this helps,
Cheers

You have just installed something that was not meant for your device. Can you enter Recovery Mode and Download Mode? You can find all the necessary files for your device in the following link,
Know your Device:Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i ~Root~Odin~CWM~ROM LIST
You can also check the following tutorial. But make sure to use CWM 5 for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i as the one mentioned in the below link is for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. Here is the link,
HOW TO GO BACK FROM CWM 6.x TO CWM 5.x
Do post the result. Hope I Helped

Again its not for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i. You will find all the roms for S5830i from the link I gave above. Only use those roms. Installing a rom meant for other device can basically hard-brick your device. Try installing a custom rom through CWM 5. Also can you enter the Download Mode? Do post the result. Hope I Helped
btw hard bricking can only occur when you install a kernel for another device. Flashing a ROM from another device without the kernel would only soft brick.
Please do make sure you know the difference between 5830 (Cooper) and 5830i (CooperVe), as these two models are totally different on the inside. However, it does share similar, if not identical components with a handful other handsets, such as S5570I (TassVe), S5360 (Totoro), and S5660 (Cori, if I'm not mistaken).
For now, try entering download mode as it is a safer bet to revive your phone. The key-combo to press when the phone is off is Home+Vol Down+Power.

i installed CM9 from the link that you give me via CWM but still the same problem also it was successfully installed !
yes i can enter the download mode but the phone is not recognized by odin
thanks for your response
Phone not being recognised by Odin? Do you have the Samsung USB drivers installed? You'll need it both for Odin and ADB, among other things.

As @NightRaven49 suggested, you can reinstall the Samsung Drivers from the link specified earlier. Whenever your phone is not recognized by the odin, it most probably the drivers.

Not always though. Flashing a rom meant for another device on your phone can, in the worst case scenario, hard-brick your phone. Here is one such example,

Glad to hear you got it working again Don't worry. Make sure to install roms from the above link and you will be safe You can also use the following link which leads to the official Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i Development Section. Here you will find all the mods, kernels, roms, etc for your device.
Galaxy Ace S5830i Android Development
Never forget that Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i are completely different. Also make sure to read all the guidelines from the rom thread before you install them. If you ever come across any problem while installing a custom rom, just flash the stock rom back using odin. Good Luck
